Great product! My partner had this same bag (but in orange) as his school bag over 20 years ago and is still going strong! It’s called “old orangey” Such a great purchase. Highly recommend to everyone looking for a very high quality bag.

I purchased my first lite alp 30 years ago, I have used LiteAlps through school, university and work. I have travelled with my LiteAlp (Makes a great cabin bag which fits under the seat with room for your feet). I can't live without my trusty handbag! In 30 years I have replaced my LiteAlp 3 times, and I'm about to do it again. Pretty good for a bag I use almost every day.

Incredibly capacious this day-pack has room for almost anything. I use mine daily for food shopping as well as for trips away. The legendary AzTec fabric is both hardwearing and waterproof, the heavy duty YKK zips last the lifetime of the bag, which is a long time. The only downside, is the lack of a breathable airflow system, which means you can get a sweaty back on a hot day.

Purchased this to replace a 20 year old Kathmandu Unisac- Canvas, this was my perfect pack, used every day but finally the zips gave up. Litealp was the closest replacement I could find. The canvas seems tough and the zips are good n chunky just a few designs quirks let it down.1. Front Pocket. The diagonal pocket zip is awkward a straight horizontal zip would be better, the dividing material between the pocket and main compartment in flexible plastic not canvas. This plastic seems cheap and prone to degradation. The flexible plastic divider allows items in the pocket (sunglasses, food, whatever) to be crushed by items in the main compartment, a problem I never had with the canvas divided Unisac.2. Back Padding. Person taste but I don’t think a small canvas ... Back Padding. Person taste but I don’t think a small canvas daypack needs any extra padding, I find thick canvas is padding enough. This pack has layer of what feels like closed cell sleep mat lining the back. It is just a waste of internal space; I will remove it if I can without damaging anything.3. Straps. The straps although well-made are too thin to be comfortable under load. An extra centimetre or so width would make a big difference.
Lovely quality, fits a lot (compared to our 58L laptop bag - I think it's just the way it's designed). Unfortunately, the drink bottle side pockets need to be taller, as a taller bottle (than the one that it's shown with) would just slide out otherwise. It would be nice to have clips where the drink bottles sit (higher up) to give extra security of it not sliding out and being able to clip on other things like an insulated lunch bag.
I've had three of these in about 30 years. As they don't seem to be available in the UK anymore I ordered the latest one from NZ.It's the only pack that has remained waterproof over it's entire lifetime. I can just fit my DSLR bag and equipment into it plus a Thermos, a sandwich and a pack of essential dark chocolate. I like the dense foam backpad -- I often lay back on it after said tea, sarnies and chokky to look at the sky and catch 500 winks.Brilliant. Don't change a thing.
The true test for any product is to use it on a mine site. I have had this bag for 4 years and used it everyday for 208 days each year. It has been thrown in the back of a ute, kicked around footwells and dragged through the dirt.Well made, simple and robust. Hard wearing with quality chunky YKK zips.Very much recommend.
Great pack bought it over 2 weeks ago in Auckland Oneroa Dressmart. The guy in their talked it up. Convinced me and I am stoked with it. Pity was cheaper like now. But hey I needed ot as other bag broke.
I owned one of these 30 years ago and it was amazing... the material, the comfort, just perfect.I wanted to replace it with the same model and ordered this one.The material feels as well as ever, but the shoulder straps are horrible compared ot the original.Im the original one the shoulder straps were wider and better formed and covered with some sort of canvas material. These ones feel cheap and stiff and slip off my shoulder all the time. Very uncomfortable to carry.Very dissappointed that you claim it is the classic and then it is not
I ordered one without trying it on. That wasn't such a good idea.I really like the rugged feel of the Aztec and what looks like a fairly heavy duty construction. What let me down is the very basic harness.I understand this is an "original" so I simply bought the wrong thing.I do wish Macpac made something similar with heavy duty fabrics, clean cut design, but with a 21st. century harness system.I gave mine away.
