From the warmth point of view, this is my third, I had the uber light and another cooler of uber Halo and they're all great in keeping me warm. However, I loved the older model more. Especially with the carrying pouch. I couldn't pack the jacket in the inner pocket or probably the pocket needs to be bigger. Not the same neat job with the pouch, which used to save me space when traveling

Best down jacket I've bought!

This is a down jacket of very good quality bought at a great price. The fit is perfect and the jacket has a quality 'feel' compared with equivalently-priced products. It is well made with good stitching and the colour is just what I hoped it would be. The only improvement I can think of would be to include a small nylon bag for storage - I find the method of folding and rolling the jacket into the inside zipped pocket too challenging.

Cosy but light, let down by mediocre zip

In choosing this jacket I sat in the dressing room for five minutes with the zipper done up and the hood down. I wanted something that was really warm but wouldn't inhibit my movement/posture or weigh me down.1. It is very cosy and warm.2. The jacket also succeeds on the movement/posture front in a few ways:- Hood doesnt dig into my neck when it's down, if I'm in a chair with a high back or headrest (I don't wear hoodies because of this issue).- Physically light. With other big jackets I often feel my shoulders opening back up when the weight is released after taking it off.- Broad enough for my shoulders - I am a woman and was warned choosing a men's jacket would make me look boxy. I don't care, personally, because I won't look or feel good if a jacket is ... MoreIn choosing this jacket I sat in the dressing room for five minutes with the zipper done up and the hood down. It feels cheap, compared to what you see on a lot of other brands selling coats this thick. It has one zip-pull, not two, and it could really do to be thicker. It doesnt feel like it has enough control over the jacket. I am considering finding out what it would cost to have it replaced with something better, because I can imagine the wrong pull causing the material to split and down to pour out. I would not have bought this without the half-price sale, purely because of the zip.

Extremely light jacket
18 June 2021

I got this online and its even lighter than I thought it would be and packs down to basically nothing. Because of this though, the material feels extremely thin and a bit more flimsy than I was expecting. I picked this up on special to replace a much thicker down jacket I didn’t wear much because its was just too much warmth in one layer. I find this jacket gives only about the same warmth as a regular jumper but thats perfect for me because when its cold I like to wear it as an outer layer over the top of something else. Together this gives about the same warmth as my thick down jacket but with more options when the temperature changes. So far happy with the purchase, I just hope the super light weight material holds up an doesn’t get torn too easily.

Happy so far
4 May 2023

Seems good so far… It's the first down jacket I've owned as I have always disliked the shiny, tacky look, and that so many townies wear them for town stuff. I usually wear wool bush shirts, and polartec type fleece but I thought I'd give one a try. Really nice warmth to weight, and the packed volume and weight are awesome! The slick, cold feel of the inner and outer still feel alien, and it feels like it's going to tear on everything I brush against due to the thin (20 denier maybe?) outer! But at the sale price I paid for it I am not going to be babying it, so time will tell ??

I do like my jacket so far, although very flat.

I like the jacket very much. My partner bought one in store. That jacket is much more “fluffed up” than the one. Bought online. I am waiting to see if mine bulks up a little more, maybe it’s been compressed in it bag longer.I hope it bulks up more than it is.I also can’t judge it’s warmth as it is mid summer. My online purchase experience was good and considering it was Christmas, delivery time was good.

I liked it so much I bought it twice!
28 July 2022

I needed a light weight jacket as I spend a lot of time working outdoors and I am also required to travel quite a bit. The Macpac Uber Light Down Jacket packs down into a bag about the size of three tennis balls; its light. When on, its very warm and comfortable. To be honest, I misplaced my first jacket and waited all of 5 days to find it - before getting back to Rebel Sport to buy the rtepolacement. The jacket is fantastic.

Perfect purchase.

The perfect companion to the MacPac feather vest. Bought them both at the same time and they’ve been great for winter on the coast. It packs away neatly in its small stuff sack and can be secreted away in my day pack in case the weather turns cool. I’ve had it through winter and so far it’s been perfect. It doesn’t get really cold where I live so it’s a good replacement for my bulky polartech jumpers. Very satisfied with this purchase

Well made & functionally designed

Recent purchase. Am very familiar with Macpac gear & this XL Hooded Halo Jacket is right up to their lofty standards. Excellent quality at the right price. I bought in store as I was concerned about picking the right size as I switch between XL & XXL often. The XL fitted perfectly whilst the XXL was surprisingly bulky with a long torso & long sleeves. All I am suggesting is just be careful on the size selection!

You need this jacket
10 July 2021

It was a cold, winters day and my Kuta Lines jacket, circa 1993, had finally perished after its one thousandth wash. Aghast, I slumped in my chair, freezing on the bitter cold of my loneliness. Thankfilly, I had recently purchased the Macpack Men’s Down Halo Jacket. I put it on. Warmth and light immediately embraced me. I was not only warm but actually felt like there was a halo above my head; such was the feeling of weary no this jacket for the first time. I am not using hyperbole when I write that this jacket literally saved my life.
