Sabre Jackets are for water resistant warmth. They're ideal as an everyday piece that works in the hills, and they're made with a breathable and abrasion resistant softshell fabric that's ideal in changing conditions. It's laminated for protection under light showers and it has a DWR finish to help repel moisture, but it isn't constructed to be fully waterproof. The soft fleece lining increases warmth and comfort.

Works well to protect from wind but it provides very minimal rain protection. Water come straight through onto the back of your neck through the logo stitched there. The sizing is way off, I'm usually a medium but read beforehand to go a size up so went with a large but even this is a tight fit and the hood will only just fit of not wearing anything on your head like a beany etc. Wouldn't recommend this product

A mixed review from me. The flap of material on the top of the zip is a bit annoying. The sleeves are a bit long and the forearms are too tight. Otherwise it is a good jacket. Great for taking the edge off Adelaide's cold winds and light showers without being overly warm. The lack of stitching on the very top of the shoulder is good when wearing a backpack and help water resistance.

I have had this item for a couple weeks now and it is my favourite jacket. I bought it recently after buying the equivalent kid's jackets two years ago for each of our children. They love them and I thought I'd get one for myself. It is comfortable, warm and looks good too. It even keeps you dry through a light shower and drizzle. I do find however that the arms are a little tight fitting in comparison to the body (no, I'm not a body builder). I would recommend going a size up on your usual to account for this fact unless you have spaghetti arms.

It’s a really nice jacket and keeps you at a nice warmth but the sleeves are tiny and I can’t wear a long sleeved shirt with it because it ends up sliding the shirt towards my bicep. It might sound like I’m a weigh lifter but I’m not, I push paper for a living.
I have been wearing this jacket for tidy casual use. It even works over suit pants for a smart casual look. I recently took this jacket on a business trip to China. The weather in Beijing was -3 degrees with wind and heavy snow. I wore a Macpac Merino, and this jacket as a mid layer with my Macpac Traverse Jacket as an outer shell. It worked great. Breathable, warm and light. Most times it can be worn on its own without an outer layer but good to know it can handle extremes too. I’ve owned several soft shells of other brands but this is the best I’ve used. Good work Macpac.
Love this jacket. Plenty of secure pockets, copes with the rain well and beads off nicely. Good sized hood and the fluffy liner on the inside makes it warm and comfortable for such a lightweight jacket. Had to go up a size compared to my normal Macpac jacket purchases as the sleeves were tight around forearm and I needed flexibility for my intended use.
Love my Sabre softshell. This became my go to for the cooler days, especially if there was a chance of rain or it was lightly raining. Looks great, lovely & warm & surprisingly good in the light rain. I haven’t used it when the rain has been heavy. Although it does bead initially I did find the fabric retained moisture eventually, but stayed warm regardless. Great keeping the wind out.
Served us well both in camps and hikes as well as recent trip to Japan. Zippered pockets including one at chest height was great for train tickets/ cards. Hood was great in light rain - the rest of the family needed raincoats. Easy to wash and dried overnight.
I have other Macpac Jackets, sized at 2XL, which are very good, but this jacket at 3XL, after two attempts to get it right, is just way too small across both my shoulders and arms. Frustrating as it appears to be a well built unit and looks smart, I just can't wear it. Shame, I guess I should return it for someone else to try.
Nice fitting jacket I am 95kg 176 cm tall and XL fits nice with a little bit of room for layering. Quality materials and really keeps out the wind and light rain. Chest pocket is handy for phone storage. Side pockets in just the right spot for keeping hands warm. Great for wearing as a top layer over business shirt when outdoors from office environment
