Probably the most comfortable socks I've owned. Cushioning in the right places, they are thick enough without being bulky. They're soft but stay put without sliding around. They don't make my feet sweat, and they dry fairly quickly which is handy. Getting me through a European winter holiday nicely, and also make wearing new shoes easier.

These are absolutely fantastic hiking socks, even better when you consider the price point. Not too hot, not too cold, and good cushioning. Wore them without issue for 4 days of hiking on mixed terrain. One star deducted because I think they run large. I wear a 38 hiking show so the small should be the right sock fit, but I found them a little large. My husbands shoe size matched to a medium, but his were a tiny bit large too and actually he preferred my Small size! Having said this with a bit of manipulation on initial fitting the socks didn't bunch or move around and worked out really well for us.

Love my Macpac merino hiking socks ! Love how soft they feel , but still really durable as I'm walking a lot in gumboots during the day! Have brought two pair, and will definitely buy more in the future.

Good, comfortable sock that fits well. They do appear to shrink a little after washing but this is natural.(yes, I did use wool wash on wool cycle). I also either use canisten in the wash at home or finish last bit of drying in the sun to help with anti-fungal properties.Having read another review on slippage, I didn't use a fabric softener and found I didn't have this issue. I have used in slightly warmer weather and my feet stayed moisture free even in Gortex lined boots. I would recommend these socks so far.
Worked really well with my boots. No blisters. I have purchased a number of them now.Seem to be wearing well but it's early daysMy use case is NOT very cold walks. But they are still quite warm.
The socks were bought for my grandson at University in Dunedin. He says, “ they are best socks I’ve ever had, it’s like walking on clouds, and they’re warm!”
Brilliant socks. Great elasticated band at the top. Don't fall down into your shoe or boot. It's all I wear during the winter months.
Ordered 36-39 size (S), I'm usually a 38-39 shoe, and have other Macpac socks in this size that are perfect. But these are HUGE. I tried to give them to a friend who wears size 42 and they were even too big for them. Terrible, waste of time and money, will return when I get a chance.
I was disappointed with the socks. I had previously purchased some of the same sock three years ago and was very pleased with them. I am size 9 feet and when I put the new socks on and then put walking boots on the each sock stretched and left an uncomfortable wrinkle. A sock in a walking boot needs to lay flat and these don't and to get the winkle out I have to stretch the sock behind my heel. I purchased two pairs of socks that were different but had same problem. A feel that using a small size would overcome the problem.
Just bought a pair size small, as i am size 39 they should fit snug. Sadly, they are 10cm too long. They hang off my toes like floppy, wooly flippers. Unusable. No exchange although the error is theirs. So beware - try before you leave the shop and do not order online as you will be disappointed.
