This hooded top works well in a wide range of temperatures, and drys quickly as well as wicking perspiration effectively. Odours wash out well, and it tends not to pill nor tear when working in dense bush. Unfortunately it is synthetic, so doesn’t like heat or fire, but otherwise its ideal for South Island conditions - except in hot weather - and is tidy enough to wear in urban environments

No matter the weather, I’ve always been a heavy sweater. I wore this top for two days recently in mild weather and sweated up a storm, but it did a stellar job of wicking it away and I didn’t once feel damp or cold, even with windchill. The hood doesn’t get in the way of a pack and comes in handy instead of digging out a beanie for a cold saddle in the wind, or even as short term sun protection when the track temporarily exits tree cover. I’ve never liked long sleeves on anything but on this I actually really appreciate them for sun protection, as it doesn’t feel any hotter than a T-shirt. Very happy with this purchase!

I have 4 of these, and I use them for motorcycling.The high neck (with zip) means I don't need a neck gator (mostly).The hood can be used under the helmet. But, mostly it isn't necessary. However, the hood is often useful, on cold days, when I stop.

This Polartech Prothermal fabric is the best warmth to weight ratio I've ever experienced in a thermal!Its provides immediate warmth as soon as you put it on. Very soft, stretchy and forgiving fabric so the tailored form of this garment will easily form-fit to anyone with out hindering movement. The hood when fully zipped up is like a snug balaclava and neck gaiter in integrated into a long sleeve thermal. This proved to be the ideal base layer for snow hiking.As a thermal, it does not block wind, so will always need a windproof layer over the top perform at its best.Really awesome product, I look forward to getting more of these.I strongly recommend this for light weight breathable warmth.
This thermal is the only one I ever use for almost every outdoor trip, run, or even social outing. With the integrated hood that zips up like a full balaclava if you need you never get caught out with a cold head. The hood works great with a hat too. The arms have a thumb loop which is good if you're wearing gloves over the top. I always wear a thin technical running shirt underneath this.
Definitely would recommend this product, I've been a merino fan (and still am) but this has benefits merino doesn't including faster drying times. It's super warm when you need it to be and keeps temp normal when temperature warms up. Would like to see it in the blue colour as black is fine it is nice to have some colour sometimes.
Very hard to find a short zip hoodie in light polartec like this. Got it for climbing rock and alpine, but use for everything. Don't want to take it off! Love the bright orange too. Good job Macpac!
This would be one of the best baselayer/Mid layers I have used. Excellent warmth for weight and packability. The hooded version a really great option to keep you warm also.
I run a medium t shirt and got this in a large so it's slightly loose. Feels great and warmer that a regular thermal - even a standard weight merino. Great addition where weights a factor.
So much to like about this top. I have the men’s version for the extra length. Used it for 7 day hike at Wilsons Prom in Feb. with some challenging weather, found it to be warm mid/outer layer. Sleep, hike, camp, good temperature control neck zip high to chin no need for buff. Comfy hood has enough stretch for sleeping in. Warmth for weight bonus. Has a purpose for all conditions,as base, mid, or outer.
