Flavorless and hard. I was excited when I was given the opportunity to try these as I love mangoes. The packet was great as it is a good size and had the handy zip lock seal. To truly taste these I thought I would put them in my bircher muesli as pieces. I let them defrost fully but was a little disappointed. The first piece I tried was hard. Thinking I just got an odd one I tried another, which was softer, however there was a mixture of hard and soft pieces throughout. But one consistency I did find with each bite was that they were a bit tangy, like the mangoes were a bit green/under ripe when picked. Maybe I'm used to eating fresh mangoes that are soft, juicy and sweet. I think they might add the right mango flavor for smoothies or when blended into a recipe, but ... MoreFlavorless and hard. Not Good.... Iâm in total agreement with @nannymaz!! The product looked really nice in the attractive, see-through packaging, but there it ended. There was an overwhelming smell of fish oil when I opened the bag which didnât inspire me to go any further. But, brave soul that I am, I soldiered on & tasted a few of the nice-looking chunks of mango. It just went downhill from there..... the mango taste was overpowered by what could only be described as a similar taste to the contents of a fish oil capsule. I coerced my poor unsuspecting wife into tasting the mango, even after her protests that it âstank of dead fishâ. She obliged, but declined to go any further than trying one small piece which she declared tasted even worse than it smelled. The package states âpacked ... MoreNot Good.... No thanks. Easy to find with its inviting mango coloured bag. I opened the bag and ⌠smelt like green mangos. I took out 6 pieces and let them defrost for about 20 minutes. They held their shape, didnât collapse into mush. Unfortunately they tasted sour and left a âfurryâ feeling in my mouth. I tried this again with another 6 pieces with the same result. Maybe I was just unlucky with the mix in my bag. The packaging says â packed in Chile from multi origins, maybe this is the usual taste for mangos from some of these origins and Iâm comparing them to beautiful, in season, ripe Aussie mangos. The packaging also has a âwhatâs inside that countsâ section with the first suggestion being a smoothie. What does a smoothie have â more ingredients which would mask this sour ... MoreNo thanks. Nice for Mango Lovers. Lovely bright coloured packaging, organic frozen fruit packed in Chile from multiple origins. To be honest mango is really not my favourite fruit so I thought Iâd put my mad scientist hat on and whip up a concoction which would be the best ever mango, coconut, lime and vodka ice cream ever tasted. Well I wonât be making my millions from this experiment it tasted quite nice but it was icy. Needless to say I wonât buy this again as mango is just not my thing, personal taste. I will soldier on and finish the ice cream⌠might be nice with some pineapple pieces
Definitely delivers on quality! I was really pleased to see these mango pieces in my freezer section. Frozen fruit can often be pale, underripe, and tart. But these mango chunks are a really great size, amazing colour and look premium quality. Since it's winter and smoothies are the last thing on my mind, I made a cobbler with my mango chunks. I tipped the whole bag of mango pieces out into a saucepan, adding about a half cup of sugar, a cinnamon stick, a few cardamom pods, a small sliver of nutmeg and a vanilla pod plus about 3/4 cup of water and put it over a medium flame. It didn't take long for the mango pieces to soften because they were nice and ripe to begin with, so I fished the mango out of the saucepan with a slotted spoon as soon as they softened (leaving ... MoreDefinitely delivers on quality! It didn't take long for the mango pieces to soften because they were nice and ripe to begin with, so I fished the mango out of the saucepan with a slotted spoon as soon as they softened (leaving the spices in the syrup) because I didn't want the fruit to go mushy and let the syrup reduce to about a half cup. I strained the syrup into the dish with the mango, added about a tablespoon of lemon juice and spooned about half of this fruit mixture into a small baking dish. I like to use a basic shortcrust recipe for my cobbler, so I put half of the shortcrust on top (just roughly rolled - nothing fancy), the other half of the fruit mixture and about a tablespoon of butter broken up and scattered on top and finished with the remaining pastry rolled out and tucked around the sides. Baked at 180 for about 30 minutes until golden. I let it cool slightly then served warm with ice cream. My kids loved it and using the precut fruit made it really easy to make. I was very impressed with the quality of the fruit (the best I've ever had in a frozen fruit!) and will definitely be adding it to my trolley on a regular basis
Frozen mango. Thanks for the opportunity to try this product. I was really looking forward to it. Made some pancakes for the kids to have for breakfast and we had them as a side with some berries and the mango together. It was lots of different sizes, tasted nice. It is been sourced from multiple countries. I would love to see some organic mango from Australia. We had some just blended with plain yoghurt and a bit of mint and honey as an ice cream for the kids it was more popular that way. Don't buy frozen fruit in season so I probably would stick to the fresh for now.
Mango insider's job well done. Whatâs inside really does matter, thatâs me concurring with the writing on the packet!Gorgeous cubes of real mangoes (of various ripeness), firm, a little tangy but not too sickly sweet, it has that sharpness and fresh taste of organic mangoes. My first instinct was to make a smoothie but I thought Iâd make something different as it was perfect timing that I had an abundance of passionfruit in my garden. So, I made a mango and passionfruit curd as a filling for sponge cake. I then topped the cake with finely chopped mangoes. Yes, thereâs still plenty leftover which were eaten just by themselves (so luscious) and another handful for smoothie. The pack says âpacked in Chile from multiple sourcesâ so a little confusing as to where these multiple sources are. It would be good to know if one of these sources is Australia. It would be even nicer to see more organic growers in Australia as there is an abundance of fresh mangoes being produced from NT and QLD alone. For some like myself, this pack is an occasional treat but for lovers of all things organic, they can now access quality, organic mangoes all year round in the form of Woolworths Certified Organic Mango. Not a fan. Took a couple of visits to find these, as I wasn't sure what area they should be in, Yes I could have asked someone, but I do like a challenge & was committed by then. Once I know they were frozen, found them in the freezer of all places. Even then, they were down the bottom & hiding under another flavour. Tried one still frozen & didn't like it at all, so put a few in a container to defrost. Once defrosted, still didn't really like the taste, had an icy, fridge taste. much prefer my Mango fresh. It seems from the comments below that these are not really sold to eat fresh, but more suited for frozen smoothies, that will be the next trial. Checking the other packs of frozen fruits it seems that Chile & Vietnam are the countries of choice for supplying these. Price is up to double other packs of frozen Mango that don't claim to be organic. Unlikely that I will buy these again, will stay with the fresh ones when in season.

AS THESE PEOPLE CONTRACTEDHEPATITIS.. WHICH HAD NO 'CURE' FOR TREATMENT... AND HE NEWSPAPERS PUBLISHED A 'RECALL' OF THESE FROZEN FRUITS FROM THE SUPERMARKETS - EVERSINCE THIS NASTY INCIDENT, WE ARE VERY WATCHFUL IF THE 'FROZEN BERRIES OR STRAWBERRIES OR BLUE BERRIES ARE PACKED IN THESE COUNTRIES.. WE REMEMBER RETURNING THE 'FROZEN BERRIES TO COLES SUPERMARKET' WHEN THIS 'RECALL' WAS ANNOUNCED ON TV AND ALSO PUBLISHED IN THE NEWSPAPERS.... THAT TIME... WE ARE SURE THAT WOOLWORTH IS VERY TRUSTWORTHY AND WOULD NOT IMPORT SUCH FOOD FROM THE COMPANY THAT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PACKAGING OF BERRIES. AS THIS IS A LESSON WE LEARNED A FEW YEARS AGO - bUT, BIT TOO PRICY i MUST SAY ! AS THE MANGOES WERE NOT RIPE ENOUGH FOR THE CHUTNEY.. What's inside mattersCreate tropical smoothies, homemade sorbets and frozen mango pops with these fragrant mango pieces
Better alternative than other frozen fruit being organic. I really try to avoid frozen fruit such as berries, mango in packets etc as I can never find a brand that is not packed in Chile from multiple sources. These how ever put my mind slightly at a ease as they are organic which hopefully means they are not contaminated. I don't even buy fresh fruit if sourced from other countries. We really should just eat what is in season but I know it is difficult at times. Sorry this is a downer rating but frozen fruit from Chile is always a concern for me and my family. Surely we can source fruit from Australia. Even still these were tastier than other brands and very versatile from my Coconut rice mango chicken to smoothie staple or even defrost with cream fraiche.
