Best Walnuts Ever!! I was a bit unsure about trying this sample as most walnuts I have bought previously, regardless of the price or brand, have mostly tasted rancid & unpleasant. Thankyou Woolies…my faith in buying walnuts has been restored!! Not only are these walnuts fresh, they actually taste very good. The price is a bit up there but, considering that the nuts are organic, I guess that’s to be expected. The resealable bag is good, as is the see-through window. (I generally avoid purchasing products I can’t see in the pack). I would have liked to see more complete walnut halves & not so many smaller pieces. I doubt that I would have purchased these walnuts, but having sampled them, I’m now a fan & will purchase again.

Handy snacker. Have to say up front that I am NOT a walnut fan so the assistant taste tester (hubby) was brought into play and happily swung into testing mode. I couldn't get anything worthwhile from him for the first 5 minutes apart from "ooh, lovely" and "these are really nice", albeit muffled by the crunching. Overall he was pleased with the resealable pack (almost laughable really because hey, you actually have to have something left over to re-seal into the pack lol), said that they were a little moister than those he normally buys which are, again, Woolworths brand in a larger pack. I then forced him (with very little protest) to cross sample the other pack, poor man, and he said "Definitely more flavour, definitely moister and he would choose the Macro hands ... MoreHandy snacker. Very nice walnuts. The walnuts are fine, fresh, delicious, crunchy. I would not buy them as at $40 per kilo I think they do not present value for money. They are also produced in USA and packed in Australia. In comparison Woolworths brand walnuts are $22. 70 per kilo and are Australian grown. Why even bother having this American and overpriced product in stock?

Wonderful walnuts! Have never been a big walnut fan except for in Waldorf salads and atop a carrot cake, so didn’t have high expectations, but now I’m a walnut convert. They have such a light, delicious flavour and are the perfect crunchy texture and I had mostly whole nuts in my resealable bag. It must be the fact that they are organic that makes them taste far superior to other walnuts I’ve tasted. They are expensive at $8 on sale, but you do get a lot of them so I don’t mind. I will definitely be purchasing them again, both for snacking and for salads and baking. Thanks Woolworths for a top-notch product!:-)
Great walnuts. I was most impressed with these walnuts grown in the United States. They were really fresh tasting with a great crunchy texture. I used them fresh in my snack bags for work and baked some choc chip and walnut biscuits with them. They maintained their crunch factor after baking. The plastic packet had a press seal opening to maintain freshness which was quite handy. I do tend to be a bit skeptical about the increased prices of macro products, but I do feel, in this instance, that the pricing is justified, especially if you are serving them fresh, on a cheese platter for example. Many thanks to Bunch for the opportunity to try these, I feel sure I'll be purchasing in the future.

I go nuts over nuts. I love my nuts and always have a bag of something in the pantry for either eating or cooking with. I still had a half a bag of my larger bag of non organic walnuts so was able to do a blind taste test on myself and Mr Gorky and to be honest we couldn't tell the difference other than the organic was a bit fresher than the opened bag we already had. The only major difference is the price at $8 for 250 g organic compared to the same sort of price for the 500g pack that is found in the fruit and veg section and not organic. The big difference is the organic ones were grown in USA and packed in Australia compared to the cheaper bag which says it is grown in Australia. The big difference is the organic ones were grown in USA and packed in Australia compared to the cheaper bag which says it is grown in Australia. I do prefer organic over mass produced and chemical farming but then try to support Australian farmers first. I mainly use them in a carrot cake, brownies and muffins etc but I also love to mimic an old Pancake Parlor recipe of toasted walnuts and fried banana with maple syrup over pancakes. A special treat for me.
Snacking Handful of Health. The bag contained walnut pieces that were crisp, had a pleasant taste and no powdery residue or bitter aftertaste (as you get when they are unripe when harvested). Being organic they had a cleanness about them. We consumed them as a snack with other mixed nuts. It is a large bag and like all other nuts highly priced. I see nuts as a very healthy snack and therefore don't mind paying a bit more and the resealable bag would see them keeping fresher and lasting longer in a cool pantry. I would recommend, use in cooking and purchase for my family again.
Buy organic if you can. Walnuts, my husband loves walnuts, along with the sample of cashews he was made up. He has these sprinkled with honey. How to make a healthy product less healthy I guess. Macro range and certified organic. We have tried both the organic and non organic and cannot tell the difference. Both taste very nutty with a good crunch and overall freshness of a good walnut. I will start with the price:The Macro range has two different types of walnuts, certified organic natural walnuts $10 for 250gm bag and Macro walnuts $8 for 250gm bag. Woolworths also have California walnuts and walnut pieces, all differ in price. So to get a perspective I did comparisons on the 250g packets only. Starting with non organic Macro one for $8: Produced in the USA packed in Australia, the sodium content is low at >5mg. Sugars 2. 7g. 5 star health rating. Ingredients Natural walnut kernels. Definition of a kernel: a kernal is the core, centre of the nut. A nut is a hard shelled seed around the kernel. Macro Certified organic walnuts $10: Produced in the USA packed in Australia, the sodium content is low at >5mg. 5 star health rating. Sugars 2. 7g. Ingredients Organic walnuts. Woolworths Walnut pieces $6. 50 : the sodium content is low at >5mg. Sugars 2. 7g. 5 star health rating. Ingredients Walnuts. Grown in Australia. What is a walnut piece: This was a tough one to work out. It is the smaller part of the walnut or the halves inside of the whole nut. Baffled about the difference between an kernel, nut and pieces... yep me too. Can't help thinking they are just different names for the same things. I even found walnut crumbs, I think that must the small leftovers from the shelling. So in a large nutshell: Organic walnuts are produced without being sprayed with chemicals and pesticides. Walnuts are usually saturated in pesticides during the growing process because of the harmful pests that are attracted to them, these can then be absorbed into your body, so opting for organic which aren't sprayed are much better for you and possibility, why they cost more due to there different growing conditions. At the end of day it is down to the individuals budget, but if you can buy organic then it is the best option. Packaging is clear and easily identifiable by the green and gold of the Macro logo. When buying, careful searching as the packets for the organic and non organic are the same. Easy to open and resealable packet. Gluten freeBag return to store so put in your soft plastics.
Yummy Snack. These were a great yummy snack for when I was feeling peckish. Walnuts aren't my favourite but I do like and eat them. These were fresh and quick when I needed a quick nibble. I found them a little bit pricey though. I suppose being organic means they cost more but for me, the price plays a part in my purchase and I might not buy these again if there's another brand just as good but cheaper.
