Definitely delicious. Wow this tasted really good!I loved the herbs in this pasta sauce! The flavours are what I search for in a pasta sauce are all here! Served over hot pasta ( unheated, as the hot pasta heats it) with a tiny sprinkle of cheese and it took me back to my youth! Yummo! The aroma was mouth watering and I couldn’t wait to tuck in! And it tasted like the sauce from my younger days Beautiful and full of flavour It wasn’t overly chunky as advertised but I didn’t mind. This product was hard to find. I scanned the shelves…. Twice! Good sauce, small bottle. Its always hard asking an Italian to try a jarred sauce. This is a difficult review for me!! There isn't a chance that I would use this as is with pasta. Sauce flavour needs to develop over time and I'm afraid this hasn't achieved that yet. I'd also need 3 of these jars to make a meal!!So at the risk of doing a pet peeve and changing the sample somewhat I added the plainest tomato sugo I could find to make a whole meal and cooked some meatballs in it for an hour or so. I nicely reduced to become a sauce flavour and texture that would please my palate!I did have a nibble of the sauce as is (albeit cold) before my finished product. Its very watery and hasn't developed an oily velvety texture yet but the flavour was ok for a jarred product, needed some additional finishing touches. I think overall this is a good sauce to use as a base. Would I buy it again? Highly unlikely but I would recommend it to others who haven't grown up with making sauce from scratch from backyard tomatoes and washed beer bottles- from the roasting of tomatoes to the squashing and bottling, (I was the basil stuffer and top basher) to the downstairs garage storage cellar just waiting for a Sunday pasta!! @baudin you can relate I'm sure!Pricewise I think its a little higher than other brands but I think its worth it for the organic tomatoes.

Great base for any additions. Lovely big glass jar – I like to see the actual product before purchasing – easy to open. Another great Macro certified organic product at an affordable price range $2. 60 for 500g. This is indeed comparable price wise to other brands but this one has the added bonus of being organic. 4 star health rating is great and Australian made even though its using imported raw materials. No overpowering aromas of either garlic or basil greeted my nostrils when I opened the jar, however the smell was more than just tomatoes, it was pleasant enough, reminded me of Italian food. So I spooned some onto my tongue for the naked taste test. I must say it was a bit bland considering the label suggested garlic and basil but I still liked it. I don't like products that taste too much like any 1 listed ingredient. It was chunky enough, gorgeous little solid chunks of tomato and I could see the basilCertainly looked nice and I had no problems with the consistency either, it was lovely and thick. I would call it thick if my teaspoon stands up unaided in it. So I have added it to my vegetable stir fry up and look forward to trying it later or even tomorrow as the flavours get a chance to mature. Would like to try other flavours of this sauce as it is a very nice product. I do recommend it, and I would purchase this again if needed. Would be nice just as it is over some gnocchi or some wholemeal pasta but as a tomato base for any dishes you need tomato in, it would add lovely flavour and texture. Thumbs up from me

Chunky, It's not. Was a bit disappointed with this sauce. Was expecting this sauce to be either rich and thick or at least some visual sightings of some 'chunky' tomato pieces. Sadly neither was evident in this sauce. As it was more on the runny side I used it in a spinach/ricotta pasta shell bake where I would usually use a passata. Once cooked the sauce did have a lovely flavour with a hint of basil and garlic. The labeling of the jar is a standout even though it does get lost among the many other brands on the market. The price is reasonable for an organic product BUT no Aussie ingredients are used in the making and no information on where they are grown. A very thin sauce with only one obvious very small piece of tomato. Calling this product chunky is false advertising. - I tipped the sauce into some fried pork mince and diced bokchoy, later adding some pasta spirals. - A tasty sauce but one that desperately needed to be thicker and have more depth of flavour. *Fried pork mince, diced bokchoy and the Macro sauce. You can see how thin the sauce looksOverall: A convenient product sold at a low affordable price but you don't get much value for your money. Personally I'd rather buy a more expensive brand that is thicker and contains Australian ingredients. Would not buy again unless I was really short of cash.

Great Staple. I usually make my own pasta sauce, so was interested to try this ready-made version. The jar of sauce was easy to find in the Macro aisle. At $2. 60 for the 500 gram jar, it is 60-80 cents more expensive that some varieties, but 20 cents cheaper than others. None of the other varieties were certified organic though. We used the sauce for cooking some lamb shanks in the slow cooker. We added some onions and carrots as well. The result was a lovely, rich flavour, with the sauce already made. The chunky texture cooked well in the slow cooker and added some interest to the sauce. I would also use this sauce as a base for pasta sauce instead of tinned tomatoes for a change. Convenient. Every now and then I make a vegetarian bolgnese using TVP. Usually I will use tinned tomatoes, dried or fresh herbs, garlic, onion, any spare vegetables etc to make up a sauce to mix through the TVP. I had the opportunity to try out this pasta sauce so thought I would skip all of that process and use the jar of sauce instead. It was certainly a lot quicker to put together and to cook. The jar claims the sauce is chunky, but it wasn't for me, so the bolognese was lacking the chunks of vegetables I would normally have. Compared to making this dish from scratch and using the jar of sauce the taste is far better when made from scratch. A Complete Fail. When I received this sample, I said to myself here we go again with another pasta sauce that probably has no flavour. I was totally right, this product did not disappoint and was actually worse than some others that I have tried in the past. I appreciate that it is all organic but when it fails miserably like this what's the point. There is no taste of garlic or basil as specified on the label just a strong sour taste and where is the oregano?Upon opening the jar it had a sour smell to it and when I tried it, it was extremely sour and absolutely no flavour. I tried to save this sauce by adding my traditional ingredients to it but it did not help whatsoever. I ended up eating a little bit and the rest was binned unfortunately. There is no excuse for not sourcing all ingredients locally as there are many organic Australian producers. I understand the cost of the product would be more expensive than this at $2. 60 but I wouldn't mind paying that little extra for the quality and if it was full of flavour. Overall this product is a major fail and improvements are needed on flavour by going back to the basics with simple ingredients and keeping it traditional. I would also love to know who is taste testing these products before they hit the shelves? Nothing beats making pasta sauce from scratch and thanks Bunch for the sample but it's a no from me.
