Some gourmands make you crave chocolate and candy and smell similar to whatever they're trying to replicate, whereas this isn't trying to replicate anything and therefore doesn't do that (thankfully!). It treads a fine balance between sweet and classy. It's a unisex fragrance and I can imagine this smelling equally great on a guy. Now if only it wasn't so darn expensive I would be out there snapping up the matching body cream, body oil and hair mist too. They make fragrances inspired by other hard-to-find or high-priced and niche fragrances and the version they make of this is absolutely fan-friggin-tastic. There is a slight difference in longevity and it's a little less saffrony in the Juliana's version but I'm telling you, I couldn't tell the difference when my husband sprayed each wrist while I closed my eyes. If you are in the market for a fragrance that can literally be worn by anyone, anywhere, any season, time or event- this is the one for you. It is appropriate for any type of situation (in my opinion) and will give off Rich Auntie/Uncle vibes like no other. What are you waiting for ? Run to the nearest store or run your fingers to the nearest online reputable retailer that sells a sample or decant of this and you will fall in love.

Disappointing formula change or quality control issue - do not purchase until it is fixed!

I have worn this fragrance for years and recently replaced (October 2022) with a new bottle. Let me tell you, I was BEYOND excited for my replacement. I had to see what the craze over this scent is, so I ordered from here first to get the general idea of the scent. I will say I leans very unisex. It’s not very feminine in my opinion but it will compliment a woman, as well as it compliments a man. It’s not a straight up earthy mens cologone but it does have some earthy undertones to it. So it won’t leave a trail unless you wear quite a bit of it, and apply it correctly. It is strong and pure so it’s not that it’s weak. But unlike sprays oils tend to be closer to skin more intimate. Which I work in senior care so I usually don’t wear sprays to work but oils are perfect cause I can smell fresh and clean but not offend anyone or make too much of an appearance.

I bought 3 bottles over the course of a year and had to exchange all 3 and still nothing! No smell its like i'm spraying water. Yes people talk about anosmia to it when your nose gets used to it, but NO ONE around me smell it whenever i wear it. I can bet MFK intentionally make varying batches so you keep repurchasing more so you might lucky and hit a good batch. No such ridiculous thing as "anosmia". It's all to do with the business strategy for making more profit. And the tester MFK supply for consumers to try in store is obviously a good batch. You might get the slightest scent on your clothes if that. Not blaming Mecca koz they have been great with their customer service and exchange policy. Sigh. The hype about B540 is well truly over.

There are definitely some good and bad things about this fragrance in my experience.The initial drydown is very alcohol heavy and does take a good 10-15 minutes to disappear even with one spray, so don't go spraying this just before meeting someone or going out. Give it some time and definitely don't go ham on the spraying. I found the fragrance lasted all day and even after a nighttime bath for over an hour, it was still there like I never washed my arm or soaked it in water. It is almost identical to By The Fireplace by Maison Margiela, which I do enjoy, but I find it to be more of a masculine leaning scent and something I have to layer with a vanilla, floral or fruity scent to get it just right for my more feminine taste.It wasn't worth the price for me, but I'll still use it occasionally and enjoy it by layering. The packaging and design is lovely. It has a little box with a pull tab inside. It does feel and look expensive. At least it satisfies the packaging fanatic within me!

So, I simply cannot believe that this is being touted as an extrait de parfum. This is my first one of this classification as I usually buy eau de parfums. I was under the impression that the concentration of perfume oils in extraits is a) more potent and b) of a higher quality. However, sillage, longevity and projection is very very poor compared to the eau de parfums from other high end brands that I own. Most reviews say one spray is enough on each pulse point which is true for most perfumes but I would say this scent is watered down for some reason. Maybe I received a 'bad batch'? Nevertheless, it does actually smell very similar to a dupe by a high street brand that shall not be explicitly named, but an easy internet search will lead you to that. It smells like sweet cotton candy roasting over a bonfire next to some marshmallows - a very sweet skin scent. I'm shocked that "sweet" isn't listed as the top main accord on fragrantica. There is a lot of comparing this to Ariana Grande's Cloud perfume and I want to address that. The notes that Cloud has that I believe BR540 shares is Vanilla Orchid, Whipped Cream, Musk and a hint of Pear. First BR540 is way, way, WAY stronger; half a spray of this is the equivalent to 15 sprays of Cloud and that is not an over exaggeration. If you love this scent enough, getting BR540 is worth it for this reason alone. I'm gonna try to explain the difference between Cloud and BR540 like this: unexplainably, we all know when a perfume smells cheap and when a perfume smells expensive...so yes the smells are very similar but the cloud one has no depth to it, it has this syntheticness to it that reminds me of high school where we wore cheap (not necessarily bad) perfumes. BR540 on the other hand, you just KNOW this is an expensive perfume, its sweeter than cloud; it gives me almost...raspberry or strawberry notes, and it has a skin like scent to it. In other words, I think Cloud and BR540 are sisters; Cloud lives in the suburbs and BR540 is the more attractive one that lives in a luxurious French apartment next to a bakery. Also, I can see why people think that this smells like Sol De Janiero 68’ but Sol De Janiero 68’s smell evaporates the moment you spray it and it is 1% of what BR540 is. Seriously, 1%...The only thing I don't understand is how people are saying this smells like Burberry Her -- BH smells nothing like BR540 but it does have notes of strawberry and raspberry which I definitely picked up on in BR540 so thats the only similarity. In conclusion, Baccarat Rouge 540 is 10/10 and worth it.
