Makita 12V Inflator MP100DZ

So far so good. Delivered on time and used today to trim a mixed beech hedge of 160ft in length. No problems at all and finished with one bar of battery. Reasonably lightweight product but, for me, slightly wearing on the hands keeping the three safety features depressed at all times. However the cutter dealt very well with all aspects of the hedge cutting through some branches of 10-15mm. without difficulty.

Bought after checking reviews. Used to trim hawthorn hedges, superb cutting through thick and thin growth, excellent battery life - 2 bars left after cutting 2 long hedges both sides and top. Safety features and balanced so makes cutting less strenuous. I have several DeWalt products and this continues excellent rating of all of them.

Have used Dewalt products before. Well made and reliable. Only used this hedge trimmeronce but proved to be above my expectations. Battery seems to last well and was light and comfortable to use. Excellent product.

Blade should be a bit longer. I never used a hedge trimmer before, now I know I need a longer blade. I used my 2AH battery instead of 5AH. Managed to cut 90% of my hedge. Only 10% I needed 5AH battery. Just buy unit if you have any dewalt battery at home. It is quite powerful with reasonable noise level.

Excellent small and relatively quiet... it can handle very high pressure, and handy for motorhome or road bike with different adapters. You can easily set the pressure you need on the small LCD, and dont need to worry or constantly check all the time! The compressor will slow down and stop... The LED light is also helpful, you dont need a torch to use it in dark! Makita is a brand I can trust so far, I using lots of cordless and corded Makita tools with no problems at all!

Fine for what it is, like the fact that it shares batteries with the other tools I keep in the truck. But the valve adaptor are overly complicated. Like, one is on a chain and the rest are snapped into place on the body of the tool. Would like them all in a little compartment that locks closed so they won't get lost. Other issue is with how they work. Like the Presta adaptor needs to screw onto the valve stem first then the hose is fitted to it. That's a real pain when doing a lot of bike tires. Would be better if the adaptor screwed into the hose end.

The build is good enough, the chuck/hose is above average in construction but take care not to catch your finger on the pin the level pivots on (sticks on the side of the chuck); it's not sharp but It can catch a ring or a fold of skin and hurt. You have to keep your finger on the trigger. It won't run on its own. It will shut off when it reaches the desired pressure, which is good. In comparison to the Ryobi tire inflator, the Makita is slow (12v vs 18v). You have to keep the trigger depressed on the Ryobi and it has an analog gauge with no auto-shutoff. However, you can find the Ryobi on sale sale for $20. For $20, it's a better deal. Naysayers WRONG!! This is a GREAT tool -especially if you have a trailer. I am a contractor and have OVER 30 Makita 18v or 36v tools. Yes, this one requires buying 12v charger and battery (I have 20+ 18v batteries and 7 chargers). BUT WORTH IT. Now I can explore the Makita 12v line of products. PLUS more importantly, I have a battery operated inflator for my cars and especially my trailer. SO TIRED of looking for a 7-11 or other gas station with a WORKING inflator - especially one that is accessible when pulling a trailer- then getting change, etc. Invaluable when on the road a lot, like I am.

Works exactly as intended with excellent Makita parts and smooth operation as you would expect from Makita. (Love all their products as I own over 20 tools.) Now for the one star hit: Sure 12 volts fills slower than 18 volts but I knew that when purchasing, but since it fills slower, it should have a trigger lock. It took 2 minutes to fill a mountain bike tire so a real drag having hold the button the whole time. And since it has auto shut off anyway it's perplexing why Makita didn't include a trigger lock feature.

I didnt like that it is sold without a battery, and we have such batteries very rare and need to be ordered on special sites. Why not do everything at 18 volts, since it is more powerful and many will not have problems with the battery. You sell without a battery because with a battery will be very expensive and will scare away many who want a marketing ploy. my rating is one.
