The Makita HG5030K Heat Gun has a powerful 2 Speed 1600W motor which pumps out an airflow between 300 - 500 litres/min. The temperature varies between 350 - 500 oC. It is simple to use with a comfort grip handle. The machine has a flat end giving the option of free-standing in an upright position, leaving both hands free to manipulate a workpiece. It comes in a case along with 4 different nozzles. The glass protection nozzle prevents damage when stripping window frames. A reflector nozzle holds the heat around a pipe when soldering. The reduction nozzle concentrates the heat when welding plastic. A wide nozzle spreads the heat for thawing or drying. The HG5030 is the successor to 1,600W Heat Gun HG5012.

Have not used yet but purchased mainly because it had a blow moulded case. I am a Makita fan and have lots of their gear!

I previously had a DeWalt hot air gun and it was great but the variable heat setting failed. I bought the Makita one because it had two heat settings and not variable so it's simpler. It works very well and having the case is useful which houses the nozzles. I recommend this one and delivery from Axminster was very fast and price was the best.

Everything was fine if it received without edge damage. There is no packing damage that means the seller shipped damaged item or he didn't inspect it before dispatch.

I bought this for my DIY wood projects. Does the job perfectly and with good finish. I even tested on metal and I was happy with the performance
Well built but lacks a level of heat to enable rapid paint removal. Bought it to replace an older DIY version which it failed to equal
Purchased as an alternative to the cheaper sub 20 options. Upon opening the hard plastic case (which inspires confidence in its ability to protect the tool) the heat gun appears a quality item as expected from the Makita brand. It has a good weight and heft, without being overly heavy, and certainly does not feel flimsy. Used several times and has performed admirably, making light easy work of paint, both thin and several coats thick, on a variety of wood surfaces. The gun has not scorched the surface of any of the woods, even when provoked by deliberate careless use holding the heat very closely over a single spot. Overall; very pleased with the tool, would have scored 5/5 but can't get this with the paint scraper that the case has a recess for.
1 different product arrived. The product I bought is 1400W The product received is 1400W, other than that everything is fine
Have used this for scraping paint from a door. Its well made, easy to control and does the job.
