It cost £195 for the bare unit which was the best price around, it's built to makitas usual high standards. I was impressed immediately with its cutting, weight, balance, etc. I dont think I will be needing the wireless function, unless they figure out how to get the wireless vacuum to vacuum the house while I plane.Only drawback is it doesn't last very long with 4.0Ah batteries. I have 2 and the second battery was exhausted before the first had recharged in the rapid charger, leaving me to twiddle my thumbs. I've since ordered a 6.0Ah battery which should keep me planing!

A step up from my previous and only power planer. This Makita leaves a beautiful finish and can skim off the thinest of thin wafers of wood. Feels weighty and solid in use, needs collection bag or vacuum.

Item delivered on time, Makita packaging Bob on. Product came with the usual to understand instructions and within 5 mins I was planing away with ease. The Makita planers has an adjustable plane setting, which is easy to use and adjust. I planed about 50m of old sleepers and they have come up a treat. The plane just glides along smoothly, no forcing or having to push the blade. Im really impressed with this tool. The build quality is top notch, and robustly put together, this planet will look like it will last for years to come. I rate this a worthy 5

Very handy tool for woodwork. Good power & easy to handle. I use it both at work and more usually at home for my wood projects & I am delighted I bought it recently. It is one of my best buys.
Remarkable power and accuracy. Good deal supplying two batteries and a charger.
Worthwhile upgrade for me being a chippy. I have the brushed version but wanted this as rebate cuts are possible and the bag can be put on either side. It’s a bit heavier than the original 18v but feels well made and planes very nicely and accurately. Overall I’m pleased with my purchase.
This planer is simply awesome. The sustained power is incredible and the automatic torque increase passing over harder wood is impressive to say the least. On the flip side reducing the blade depth for minimum reduction is where it really impresses. Easy to control and easy to maintain reducing thickness it is a real game chamger for 18v planers.
Brought to replace an old but high end planer that disappeared from my van one dayused the new makita planer and wow! It has good power, accurate planing, but noticeably very smooth cut. This was edge finishing oak internal doors. A vast improvement on my old planer. Nice tool...
Slightly bulkier than the DKP180Z and heavier. Apart from that very easy to use, glides through timber. AWS chip, I havent figured out how to use yet. Dust bag wouldve been nice.
I have an Elu corded planer but wanted cordless convenience and flexibility. The Makita is beautifully balanced and sits well in the hand. Do be sure to buy the brushless model for lifespan. You probably dont want to run it on anything less than a 4amp battery else you will be recharging too frequently. If you are in the market for a cordless planer, then look no further. You will need a carry case and dust bag, extras!
