A powerful bomb proof light, but extremely heavy and if used soley on batteries will eat through them very fast. Would recommend getting the makita stand for this, which is also bomb proof to cope with the weight of the light !

The light is really good for construction, it lights up the room even on low setting. If it had a build in charger it would have been perfect, to charge your batteries when plugged in . But only for a light it dose the job wonderfully.Didn't expect it to have a fan to cool the light down . On 10000 lumen it gives out heat

If you need to see what you're doing then look no further. these are just great. A word of warning though, we have had 2 of these eventually fail after 11 months or so. Makita have fixed them but they're not covered by the extended warranty unfortunately.

10,000 LIMENS . SUPER BRIGHT . BEST OF THE BEST. Looks Great . It can really light up the area .I use it at work everyday since I do commercial work . It has 3 levels of Brightness. It won’t charge batteries if plugged in . It can drain up your batteries up quickly if used on the brightest level . Worth every dollar ??
I first purchased the lower priced Makita DML81 with one 18 volt with full power of 3000 Lumens (equivalent to two 100 watt incandescent bulbs) for about $170 on Home Essentials Direct, and it was not bright enough, so I sent it back. I then purchased this more expensive Makita DML809 model at 10,000 Lumens requiring two 18 volt batteries for about $80 more, and it was so much better. It seems to be very well made, and a fan comes on when the unit is running hot. This is the brightest light (requires two 18 volt batteries) that I could find on the market running on battery power, and it is still not super bright. For example, I have a very well lit 20 ft X 30 ft work shop with probably 30 florescent T8 lights (at about 30,000 lumens), and if I had a power outage, I ... MoreI first purchased the lower priced Makita DML81 with one 18 volt with full power of 3000 Lumens (equivalent to two 100 watt incandescent bulbs) for about $170 on Home Essentials Direct, and it was not bright enough, so I sent it back. Don't be afraid to move up to 10,000 lumens output with this light, because I think you will not at all say it is too bright. You will almost always want more light. It is like a closet, you always fill it up and need more space. For abut $80 more you get over three times the brightness over the lower priced Makita model DML81, and you will be glad you did in my opinion. You can always turn down the brightness level if you do not need it, but I always end up using mine on full power 10,000 lumens 95% of the time, and wish I had a little more. I think this is the best light available for today's technology. It comes with a power cord that you can plug it into the wall AC outlet if you do not need it on battery power. I really find this light so useful and handy on so many things I use to do in the dark or very dim light.
I love the light. It is SUPER and will be very helpful when I conduct my candlelight prayer vigils through my organization...
It's bright but I don't think last for as long as it reports. Also, Im still not sure if it charges the batteries when its plugged in but it should!
Husband wanted a contrasting color to black which camouflaged his phone too much. This one is frilly not slippy. Seems like it will last a while and he likes the change of case!
The Good: VERY bright, easily enough like to work in a room for any type of construction, even painting. Do not, under any circumstances look directly into this light, you will see Jesus and long dead relatives. No really, you will. I plan to take this camping for kicks and giggles if I want to be seen from space. I can easily light up a job or camp on any of the three power settings. The not-so-great: It's big and heavy, with two 5.0 ah batteries it's super heavy. Easily the heaviest "drop" light I have ever seen. Doesn't feel as portable as other LED's or Halogens I have owned. But, with that said, I guess it's a trade off since it's far brighter than any LED I know of and a lot cooler than a Halogen light. I would use my 1000 watt Halogens on a tripod to dry ... MoreThe Good: VERY bright, easily enough like to work in a room for any type of construction, even painting. I would use my 1000 watt Halogens on a tripod to dry painted walls and even heat whole rooms. There is a little heat on high but nothing like my Halogens. I will see what the battery life is but i think mostly I will plug it in. Conclusion: Stupid bright, not hot, heavy and expensive. I wanted the craziest bright job light that runs on the 18v platform and with that I'm happy. But the size, weight and price might be a deal killer for some. You're not gonna hang this off a rafter with a little bit of wire without some effort but then again, leaving this on the floor, it's plenty bright still so I would say it requires a little different way of thinking. I'm glad I got it, I will never be short on light again. EDIT UPDATE: Took it camping, gawd this thing is obnoxious, I love it. Every time I heard something in the forest, hit the button and POOF! I can see everything in the forest instantly. Figured if I saw a bear I would just blind his ass with this. I didn't want to annoy the people camping around me (say those that were within a quarter mile of me) so I didn't turn it on very often but it's the brightest non automotive light I have ever used camping.
This light is so damn bright. Easy to use and very well made. 3 light setting for different use. Love it
