Love it. Good power. Good performance. Variable settings make it more effective. Hooks up to my shop vac. Love it.

Great sander, but handle is too bulky for a person with smaller hands. It's also a lot heavier than expected. It's quieter than other sanders I've used. The dust extraction is almost as good as the Festool Rotex, almost. Value for money? I'd say yes, as it's half the price of Rotex. It's the weight & girth if the handle. That's a real bugbear. Other than that, it's ok.

Full disclosure I have not used this yet, I bought it for a project on my boat which I'll get to in the spring. However, I have several other Makita sanders and polishers and am very happy with them. With regard to the dust port. The size is identical to a Festool sander which is about twice the price. Rockler sells a dust adaptor kit for about $30 which will fit. There are also individual adaptors available. I am extremely happy with the service I received from Home Depot in ordering and shipping this sander.
I love this sander! The dust extraction, when used with the Abranet sanding disks, is amazing. I've used it to sand some Meganite (Acrylic Solid Surface like Corian) and there was no dust at all. I'm using a Festool Extractor. You have to be careful that the cord and extraction hose are free to move with the sander but it was comfortable to use and I was really happy with the result.
This is a great sander. It has a large high quality pad with protective barrier and edge protection which seems to help the life of the pad. It gets a little hot with extended use. Great torque and power which helps when applying a bit more pressure. My main thing is that the vibration is much lower than other oscillating sanders and through long sanding sessions helps avoid HAVS, something I experienced from other sanders. All in all, I wish Iβd bought it earlier and that 150mm discs were as common as the 125mm ones!
Arrived more or less, on time but that is the way it is in this pandemic. The machine came in a very well built strong box that is typical Makita. I opened the well packed machine and read the settings suggested then started to make saw dust. This machine does exactly what I wanted it to do. I used it on Redwood and on Purple Heart so far. It works great. Use the power settings suggested in the manual and all should be fine.A note. The Makita dust hose (not from Acme) will not work for this machine. Makita says that the hose is for "many" Makita sanders, but this is not one of them. You will have to custom fit a dust hose to the port. No big deal as I did it with no problem. All in all, this is a very good machine, from a dependable company. I recommend it.
Good but more noise than my sons FESTOOL and the sanding discs with the correct holes are difficult to find! Sands well though.
Makita....6.6 Amp 6in. Random Orbital Sander with Variable Speed. I've had this sander for a couple of months now and it is without a doubt the best sander I've ever had, a Bit pricey but worth every penny. This sander can be a beast with 60 or 80 grit or gentle as can be with 220 grit or even 320 grit sanding discs. This sander has many features like variable speed control, Fine or fast finish with 2-mode selection, a comfortable barrel grip, two mode random orbit switch, side handle which I don't use but it's there. The dust collection port works very well, Hook and Loop easy to change 6 in. sanding Discs makes it easy to change to different grits. the carrying case is very durable. This is a Great Sander I highly recommend it.
