I swapped my 3Ah batteries for the newer 4Ah and found my old grinder wouldnt take the larger size so had to bite the bullet and replace my kit. What a difference. Lasts much longer. Very light. Lovely soft start and great new trigger mechanism. Best buy for a long time. Love it.

I bought this about three months ago and thought it would be handy for the odd job that didn't warrant running an extension lead out to my 240v makita grinder. So far I've used it several times on slates, flooring tiles ,re-bar, and extensively on plastic fascia and gutters. Used with a 1 mm thick steel cutting disc it cuts plastic cleanly and quickly without chipping. It's a great tool to use fitting comfortable in your hand .my only slight gripe and it is being picky ,is the switch is a bit fiddly. My mains grinder has hardly been out of my van since I purchased the 18v grinder that is now in almost daily use. Excellent tool .

What a shame no variable speed.. consequently limited use.. could have been so much more versatile..Don't understand, variable speed as standard on other makita products?
i was not expecting it to have as much power as it does its not to heavy and fits in your hand nicely
works extremely well, quite powerful, soft start is awesome, last about 10 minutes with a 1.5 amp battery...
easy to use paddle switch, great to be able to use the battery with other tools (4 so far)
