Makita BHR241 Rotary HammerIncluded items: BHR241, handle, depth gauge and manual. It is a light, strong, fairly priced piece of machinary. Drilling through concrete, brick or granite counter tops is effortless with this drill. It is comparable to a corded rotary hammer. It weights in at around 9 lbs with battery and can be used one handed for drilling. Built in torque limiter clutch is a great safety feautre. Selector switch has a neutral position that when with a demo bit, you can rotate the bit to desired position without moving the tool around and feel uncomfortable. Its on the cheaper end compared to other brands like Milwaukee. The cons on this are, its long. At nearly 17" in length, its long and isn't the best when under tight spaces. There is no LED light which is a bummer because that would make working the dark a lot better. The last thing is that only the 3.0 amp/hr batteries work. You cannot use a 1.5 amp/hr, small 18v battery on it. It will not fit.Overall, I used this tool when there is not electrical outlet or just want no cords at all. But with the cons, I can't give it a perfect rating.**** 4/5 stars.

Doing a big job myself (as tradesman let me down). I needed walls drilled though and although my corded sds drill was fine this is up ladders ( cctv system) and i couldnt be bothered with extension leads dangling..and as project muggins was saving money.... This unit seemed to offer the most impact force for my buck. Unreviewed but other makita machines rated highly and i have all the batteries. Look its a nice machine and i dont regret buying it- but no way does it have the grunt of my corded machine. Putting a new 25mm bit through a gable end it slowed down to almost stopping. Im not used to making pilot holes. I thought it would stall and not the impact force of my corded one either. Its quicker and easier than dragging a lead around but the loss of the cord does ... MoreDoing a big job myself (as tradesman let me down). Say a 10mm bit i wouldnt notice but my other machine could put a big 600mm long 20mm bit through anything with no hint of slowing. Sorry makita close but no cigar.

Its not a Makita tool!!
8 March 2023

This is not a Makita product! Its a Chinese knock off! Had I looked or noticed the wording of the item and also zoomed up on the tool to see its not branded as a Makita, I wouldnt have bought it. For the money spent I could have bought a genuine Makita less batteries and charger . Which I would have been perfectly happy doing because all my battery tools are 18 volt Makita.

Everything was fine if it received without edge damage. There is no packing damage that means the seller shipped damaged item or he didn't inspect it before dispatch.

The drill is spot on , good weight to it aswell . 12mm holes in flagstones not a problem . Use a good battery

Usual Makita Quality

Upgraded to this after having the HR2630 corded hammer drill. So much easier to manoeuvre without the cord. Easy to operate and drills through masonry in seconds. The only concern I have is that the drill body is quite long compared to other models so might cause difficulty if drilling in a tight space or angle but on the flipside it gives you plenty leverage when using normally. A welcome addition to my LXT powered set.

useful lightweight unit

the Screwfix initial description say it does not contain batteries or charger , correct . It infers it contains drills and chisels , it doesn't.That said it is very effective for its size .but I would recommend that 5.0Ah batteries are used as 3.0Ah batteries are quickly needing recharging when used as a chisel. ..
