The Makita 18V Compact Lithium-Ion LED torch (body only) provides hours of illumination without a lead. It features a compact and ergonomic design for ease of use, with a strap for convenient operation. The flashlight is compact yet bright, with 6 leds which will run up to 35 hours on a single charge of the 18V Lithium-Ion 2.0Ah battery (sold separately). For extended run time, it can also be powered by Makita's other 18V Lithium-Ion batteries (sold separately). It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. The Makita 18V battery has the fastest charge time in its category, so the battery spends more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

Very pleased with the LED light. Ok , its not as bright as it could have been, but is plenty good enough. The great thing is that I always have my Makita 18v drill, impact driver and portable compressor in my vehicle with two charged batteries so its always there if needed and no flat AA batteries. Bit of a bargain really as you get Makita quality at a very reasonable price. Straps a bit useless with 5AH battery as too big and heavy to strap to your wrist, but you can place it on a surface without it rolling away, great for roof spaces I have found.

Very useful torch design. Not the brightest. The Velcro strap allows me to use it attached to my wrist, to concentrate the light beam from behind the tool onto the work. For a flood lit area, use a DML 808. Now that is a light. At this price, there are no complaints. I have a couple round the house and in my car. Good value. Must stress, dont expect a parabolic reflector searchlight!

The flash light is well built and very nice in shape as is just becomes part of the battery but saying this is not very bright. And it's got only one mode and only one intensity of light which is not bright. It's only useful as a spot lighting on one focused area of 700 mm circle. Price wise not really cheap as you can buy a nebo larry 2 which is much better and cheaper. And just have three AA cells to replace.

I have been a loyal user of Makita power tools, over a 40+ years period I have amassed a varied and extensive Makita power tool collection, I have at all times been happy with the reliability, quality and customer service. The DML 186 18v torch body is really disappointing the light output is really dull and lacks power, I thought that the Makita 18v battery attached to a Makita torch would have been an impressive combination, sadly not so. I would not recommend this Makita item to anyone!
A very simple bit of kit. Needing more light working in gloomy areas, I got a couple of these, partly as the spec says they give out 500 lumens. As it looks & says, the 186 is a flashlight, best suited for holding in your hand, & the ones I got have quite a strong focus on a central point, with lower level of illumination around, so far better for illuminating at a distance, not good for lighting a small area evenly - that job is far better done by the DML801, despite its apparently lower output.
Not particularly bright. Only has one brightness setting. The switch seems a bit flimsy - only time will tell if it lasts. I guess its strong point is the length of time it lasts on a charge? Really shouldn't expect much more for the price.
Handy little torch and fits with the rest of my Makita tools. Very reasonable price and a super fast delivery. Fully recommend this site. Thank you.
It's well made but it is so dim you can barely tell it's on. Seriously, any ordinary AA flashlight is brighter . The single LED on a phone seems brighter. Not sure what Makita was thinking. I ended up replacing the LEDs with a 700 lumen LED module - the flashlight works great now.
Too dim to be usable. My phone flashlight has higher output. It's actually kind of incredible that Makita could make so little light using a giant 18v power source. It feels quality but is completely useless. This product is complete waste of plastic. Do not buy it.
"Makita DML186Z" is absolutely the same as "Makita DML186" without any difference. The only difference is the price is a little more expensive than the price of "Makita DML186".
