Amazing little worklight. Has both corded and battery power feeds. When installed, the battery is conveniently hidden behind part of the products shell which is very useful when on a job site since it is easy to otherwise knock out batteries if the product is being handled roughly on a job site. Though the product is made out of plastic, it is very robust. It also has a center-balanced design which makes it easier to set the light in places such as on joists, 2x4s, and ledges without worrying about it falling with the slightest breeze. The light output is great, however Im more impressed with the beam angle. This light throws even light at a very wide angle and can easily light up an entire 15x20ft room enough to work. Excellent work light, very bulky

I own one of these work lights, mine has the top carry handle cut off because the whole thing is very bulky and space can be limited in the ute toolboxes. It does an excellent job of lighting rooms up but I just wish the fancy frame around the actual bright box in the middle was half the size.

Great if you can get it at less than rrp

I bought this at a reduced price, full price is not in my opinion very good value for money as there are other products available for less. However it seems well made, has a good light spread with two power settings and the best thing is the obvious that it runs from my makita batteries of which I have lots, the 5ah ones seem to last a reasonable time and its great not being limited by a socket and lead all the time.

Im writing this on the assumption that my reader is already invested in Makita 18V LXT batteries. This light does an ok job illuminating a small work space. The main thing I like about it is the corded/cordless versatility of it, and the way it keeps the battery safely latched inside. As others here have noted, it wouldve been great if the cord was detachable. My main problem with it though is the size. This thing is space consuming! I would be more forgiving of the bulkiness if it could put out 10,000 lumens (like Makitas DML809), but at only 750 lumens its difficult for me to justify having many of these around and storing them when not in use. My typical go-to Makita light is the DML806 lantern. Its almost as bright as this (620 lumens), about the size of a flashlight, and it has a built in hook so you can easily stick it practically anywhere you need it. Plus its just over half the price of this, so for (almost) the same price I would buy two of those instead. This isnt a terrible light, but I think Makita has other options that are much better.

Makita DML805 Corded & Cordless 18v LXT LED Worklight 240v

Purchased as a work light when mains are not available or I do not wish to get out an extension lead. As I am standardised on virtually all my cordless tools on Makita this was the obvious choice. I have used Makita cordless tools since their introduction and have expanded use as the technology improved and their range expanded. I have never been disappointed with quality or utility but have with other makes.

Overall it is an ok light. I bought as I have other Makita that use the same battery. I wanted something portable and no heat output when working. Working in a small areas such as a shower doing tile can get a bit warm with Halogen. I would not use the light for painting in a bedroom as I don't feel it is quite bright enough when on high. 2x the high output would be nice. Not sure about the plastic bracket / stand. I am afraid if drop it once, that it will break the stand. Would be nice if the cord was able to disconnect like a computer or LED TV cord, but I suppose if it did, it would get lost. Using a standard computer cord would be nice as many people have those laying around, and they are cheap and easy to obtain if you lost.

This is one powerful light !!
10 February 2018

I'm getting older or my garage is getting darker. Well, maybe the first -anyway, for years I have used single bulb trouble lights and the dual fixture halogen lights. This light puts those back in the 20th century where they belong. This light is so bright, light weight, easy to maneuver and aim right where you are working. It's one of the best pieces of equipment I have purchased recently. The best advantage is - unlike the halogen lights - you don't have to worry about "frying" yourself or your clothing if you get too close to this light. I did keep my twin fixture halogens for cooking hamburgers for lunch. ;<)

This was a really nice upgrade from the halogen work lights we used to use. It's awesome that it has the spot for bot the large and small Makita batteries but can also be plugged into the wall. Easily attaches to its accessories. Has 2 brightness settings: small sun and slightly smaller sun. It doesn't get terribly hot which was a downside when using it in a chilled work environment, that would have been nice to have a halogen for the heat. But for everything else this has been great and I didn't need to worry about 3rd degree burn when packing it up!

Uncomfortable Flash Light
20 December 2017

This Led Work Light is too heavy and uncomfortable. A led flash light should be light weight. A cordless led flash light that can work many hours on battery only, while the battery can be replaced when required, doesn't need a corded system especially when the cord can't be disconnected. The corded system adds unnecessary extra weight due to the cable and transformer. The light itself is insufficient for such size of flash light. I'm considering to disassemble the cord and to remove the transformer. About the battery installation, it is too complicated due to the waterproof protection. I personally would prefer a simple replacement of exposed battery.

Works well, but not worth getting unless you have at least a 4.0 AH battery or larger. Ive used my 5.0 battery with use times of well over 3 hours. I tend to forget about it, but Id say probably around 4.5+ hours of battery life. It has an annoying feature where it automatically dims down to a lower power use mode as the battery gets down to what Id guess to be .75 AH of life left. I dont want a dim light - just give me a bright light until the battery is gone. Also, has nowhere to wrap the extension cord when not in use! So its just left hanging out to trip over or catch on things as you carry it. Very unusual for such a lack of design foresight from Makita.
