This is a great old school drill motor. Hang on with both hands if you are pulling a large bit. I bought it for maintenance work on farm and industrial equipment and it does all we ask of it.

I bought it 7 months ago and last week was the 3rd day using it. Still looking new and ready for the recycling bin. The head that hold the bit collapsed and a piece of screw came off. I contacted Makita 1800# and they wanted me to travel 50 miles round trip to the shop for a free repair plus the waiting time. Definitely, I won't and don't recommend this.

I have owned Makita drills for years and they are very durable. The Makita DS4011 1/2" drill is a powerful tool to have when you have larger holes to drill. This is one tool that I am constantly using when I have a piece of material that I cannot get to the drill press, but I have to have the hole drilled. I would recommend this product to series contractors who use heavy duty tools.
I recently purchased this drill primarily for mixing mortar. It is outstanding! It uses 4 internal ball bearings (Ridgid uses only 2), true triple reduction gearing, an extra-long handle, and a shielded rocker switch for rugged simplicity. This tool is exceptionally well designed, and Made in the USA!
Perfectly good 1/2 inch drill, reasonably fast except under load, even moderate load will knock the edge of the rpms. Dont really like the rotating spade handle grip, rotates far to easy, no biggie. Its not a Dewalt but I didnt pay dewalt prices either.
I bought this drill to use with tenon cutters that are like huge pencil sharpeners. It takes a lot of power to sharpen a 4" diameter pencil ( or in this case, put a 3" diameter tenon on a 4" diameter log). This drill handles the task with power to spare. Buy this drill. You will not be dissapointed, but be advised it is a lot heavier than your cordless drill
I bought this to set 24" lags & drilling auger bits while building a log home. I also used it for mixing 5 gallon buckets of Rustoleum deck Restore (10x thicker than paint.) This drill does a great job at everything I have thrown its way. It has great torque and just enough speed to get through anything. Makita is a very dependable tool company & I have never had any problems with any refurbished tool I have gotten through CPO. I also love the opposing and D-handle for keeping the drill steady. I am very pleased with this drill and the refurbished price was great. Thanks CPO!

Nice drill, bought to mix a thick roof coating material which it did well. I burnt up a smaller drill with that task previously. It is too early to tell how it holds up, but it had plenty of power and did not seam to strain to mix the coating. The fit and finish is very nice, like the rest of my makita tools.
