Makita is one of the top 3 makes of quality power tools, this impact driver is no exception to the rule. Superb quality and if all my other Makita tools ar to go by, many years of hard service with no problems whatsoever.

The makita dtw285 is the best impact wrench for scaffolding you can buy , tried many makes and even newer makita models , but these are perfect. Back up from makita is great too with 3 years warranty.

I've used a lot of different impact wrenches over the years in my job working in the motorsport industry and they have all got better and better with time, but my latest purchase out ways all of them for valve for money and performance. This small impact wrench will even undo driveshaft nuts. Amazing well done Makita.

A great addition to the workshop. Wish I’d had one years ago. Compact but powerful enough for the most stubborn nuts. Very good quick stop feature to save loosing the nut when undone. Priced incredibly competitive from tool station and delivered next day on time
I looked at alternative manufacturers and went for the Makita as I have many other drills, screwdrivers etc all with the same 5amp batteries. This machine is just as good as expected. Very happy
After trying several impact wrenches from assorted brands I have found the Makita DTW285Z to be the best scaffolding tool of them all. It works at full power until the end and holds up well in the rain. The best feature though in my opinion is the auto stop while undoing which completely stops the bolt from being stripped off of the fitting while striking.
Well made gun, with plenty of power for nuts a bolts up to m16, after that it struggles with anything bigger or over torque'd or rusted solid. But when your tightening up new and smaller fixings it works brilliant. Great for coach bolts, recommend it over the driver bit version as it has more power for bigger screws. Buy it, it saves your knuckles sometimes.
Very disappointed.Would not even budge the wheel nuts on my car.A big let down.Sent it straight back and ordered the Makita DTW1002Zwhich took the wheel nuts off my car on low power with ease.Well worth the extra money.
Every other Makita tool I own has been fantastic: great feel, easy to use, reliable, powerful and terrifically hard-wearing. This is the second Makita 1/2" wrench I've bought that failed immediately (slightly different models, different sellers), both are supposed to have 'nut busting' torque but only mine have been busted so far by the sheer waste of money and huge disappointment.
i bought the dtz 100 because of the extra torque and it was 70 quid dearer which is worth it but the dtz is quite big and heavy and will not get into those harder to get at nuts so i bought the 285 as it's still a good rated tool and way lighter and smaller than it's big brother . it will still take wheel nuts off etc but it can get into tighter spaces like caliper bolts ,seat bolts etc so to sum up the dtz 100 is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut but good to have that 1000 nm torque power and the dtz285 still packs a punch with the bonus of being smaller and lighter . i also bought the 5ah 18 volt battery for the extra oomph and stamina so go and treat yourself as we're not getting any younger but the whole family still want you to fix their motors for them ... Morei bought the dtz 100 because of the extra torque and it was 70 quid dearer which is worth it but the dtz is quite big and heavy and will not get into those harder to get at nuts so i bought the 285 as it's still a good rated tool and way lighter and smaller than it's big brother . it will still take wheel nuts off etc but it can get into tighter spaces like caliper bolts ,seat bolts etc so to sum up the dtz 100 is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut but good to have that 1000 nm torque power and the dtz285 still packs a punch with the bonus of being smaller and lighter . i also bought the 5ah 18 volt battery for the extra oomph and stamina so go and treat yourself as we're not getting any younger but the whole family still want you to fix their motors for them (bless em !)
