6 years on and still going strong

I have had my makita 235mm powered saw for 6 years. I am a fencer and do approximately 400+ cuts a day through hardwood posts. I have replaced bushes once. Change blades every 6 weeks. Absolute 5 star.

Bought this saw for home workshop and glad I did. Plenty of power to cut thick LVL timber and slabs, and goes all day

Large depth of cut, good power but antiquated design and no frills.

Needing to cut a thick slab, this large cutting saw did the job with plenty of grunt to do it. However, setting blade angle and depth accuracy is difficult with no positive repeatability, no height micro adjustment, just eyeball and lock. Hard to see setting of black height-set lever in shadow. Even when set and locked in to 90, it still cuts off, so cannot “joint” two pieces together without more work or recutting. No blade brake, no soft grip, no soft start, no laser (if you like that), no on-tool storage for blade changes, this is a fairly basic, grunty tool with a good solid feel, one step above a DIY, suitable for a Tradey for on-site rough cuts, with all round robustness it can take those worksite knocks.
