I bought a circular saw on line but it arrived with a canvas bag not a blow moulded case as advertised, got in touch with Tools4trade & spoke to Sal who was absolutely brilliant, she went the extra mile to make my buying experience a pleasant one, she arranged for my saw to be picked up & found me a new saw with a better spec. & price, I will definitely recommend Tools4trade not only for the excellent tools but also for their 1st. class customer service, well done Sal saved my Christmas

I previously owned the DSS501Z and for some reason felt this circular saw (with a larger blade) would be an upgrade. I was wrong. The main problem for me is that as a lefty this is set up all wrong, with the blade on the far side away from my body when I use it with my left hand. The weighting thus also feels strange and I can't get used to it. I think there are some saws set up best for left handed people and some for right handed people. This saw I'd perhaps recommend to a right handed beginner who's not looking for robust use. Also, this saw doesn't feel like it touches the smaller, more compact, but clearly more powerful DSS501Z. For an extra 20 quid and certainly if you're left handed go for the DSS501Z- Za completely different animal

A good lightweight circular, though this particular model has quite a plasticky feel compared to higher-spec versions of the same style from Makita. Now I kow why it was so cheap! But it is great for ripping sheet material as it's so easy to handle. As yet untested on thicker timber, will probably stick to the 240v for that

I got this saw for the list of jobs I had to do, and although maybe it is a bit too pro for me I am glad I got it. I have other Makita tools, and because the same batteries can be used in all it seemed like a better idea to keep within the system. Performance wise this is excellent, and I like the brake feature which improves the safety element. It clears the dust away well from the cutting area so you can see where you are going, and the light works well too. The 57mm cutting depth handles pretty much everything you need to do, and I think if you were doing big stuff regularly you would have a bigger saw anyway. For me it is great and highly recommended.
A great saw, I have ripped down 18mm osb, also C24 6x2 joists all nice clean cuts, flew through them no problem. It's not too heavy or bulky either. Just a good solid saw. Only problem I have found is with me being right handed it tends to fill up my pockets with saw dust as the nozzle could do with a bit more of an angle to direct it away. I am using 4 ah batteries which don't last as long as I expected but I have been cutting 6x2. Generally very happy with my purchase.
As a Makita fan for diy I've been looking at their power saws for sometime. I noticed that the price on this model had reduced substantially from earlier in the year and so went fot it.Very glad I did.An excellent compact and lightweight saw with plenty of power for my purposes. Glides through sheet ply like a dream where the blower function really comes into its own.Much faster rotation and brake than my mitre saw but I will probably get used to that with practice.Overall a great little saw at a great price
Good saw and just the right tool for small occasional use. No need to take powercord trough yard for a couple minutes job. Just what i need no hassle and great saw.Just for half price than same item from Finland. Only thing is that if i buy from finland i get full warranty (2 or 3 years) but i get two tools from powertoolworld for the price of one so.... And Makita is still reliable quality tool. Just love theese 18V tools ant that one battery fits all tools.
With two Makita 18v chargers and 3 18v Makita drills, it made sense to try the Makita 18v cordless saw. It did not disappoint and what a joy not having to worry about hanging leads.
Even with a 5.0Ah battery, this saw is very light & very easy to use. I've only been using it to cut through decking boards but it is quieter, lighter & quicker than my neighbours cordless saw, although I realise that the discs maybe different. I conducted extensive research before purchasing this saw as I find Makita to be good quality & value for money which is important as I intend to expand the number of Makita tools soon from the 3 I already have.
I have had this saw for a month and have only used it twice, each time for cutting down some 50mm thick softwood. It cut extremely well like the proverbial knife through butter with a very clean cut. The only downside was that I found out the hard way that dust extraction is essential otherwise sawdust goes everywhere. Using my Numatic NV750 Vac controlled the sawdust quite well. All in all I am very pleased with the saw and would recommend as a good purchase.
