Most recently in my master bathroom. I am remodeling my master bathroom. The bathtub surround is going to be tile, which means out with the drywall and in with the cement board. The tile is not going to go all the way to the ceiling nor will it go all the way to the edge of the wall. So i wanted a fairly precise way to cleanly cut out the drywall that would be replaced with cement board. Thus the Makita Multi tool. Now I do have a corded Multi-tool, but I just didnt want to be tethered to the wall for this. Seeing as since I am redoing the entire bathroom. There is stuff everywhere in there and didnt want to add an extension cord to the mix. I chose this Makita multi tool, because I already have a bunch of Makita Batteries. Just so happens this is a great tool that Makita put some thought into. First of all I love the tooless blade chages. Simply pull the release lever back, pull the threaded stud out, put the new blade on, put the threaded stud back in place, and lock it down by pushing the lever forward. Makita also includes adapters so that you can use just about any brand multi tool blade with tool. I am so happy that Makita opted for a simple on and off switch with this tool instead of a trigger pull. Some brands use trigger pulls on their multi tools and it is so cumbersome trying to wield a tool such as this one and keep a consistent pull on the trigger. So instead Makita opted for the simple on off switch with a variable speed setting knob. Way to use the ole noggin Makita. Another great feature of this tool is the action casing part of the tool that holds the battery. You will notice you are able to wiggle this part of the independently from the main tool. Dont freak out. It is not defective. Its meant to be that way. The battery casing is slightly articulating so that it can vibrate independently from the tool itself. This does 2 things. Mainly it increases the life of your battery, because vibrations can be detrimental to batteries and this tool decreases those vibrations by allowing the battery case to vibrate independently of the tool casing itself. This also helps reduce some of the vibration that is transferred to your hand, because it acts sort of like a pendulum counteracting the vibrations from the tool. Just make sure you get yourself a good set of headphones or earplugs, because these things are loud when you are cutting with them The loudness is not unique to this specifically multi tool. Every multi tool I have ever used is ear shattering loud during cutting. So make your ears happy and use some earplugs.

Adequately powered and cuts quickly with a sharp blade. it is a bit bigger and more cumbersome than the 20 volt Dewalt but the variable speed is nice. Blade changes are quick and easy. I often install the blade at a 90 degree angle for more control on delicate cuts. This saw was a good value at CPO Outlets for $89.

I own a significant number of accessories for my Fein MultiMaster. The Makita description states that it comes with the Makita 196271-6 Multi-Tool Adapter which allows the use of Fein accessories. Well, not all Fein accessories. It does NOT work with the Fein triangular sanding pads; which is the accessory I use the majority of the time. The 196271-6 adapter is much larger than the Fein star diameter and does not fit the sanding pads (see photo). On top of that the adapter is a loose washer that will fall off every time you change tools. My definition of an adapter is one that is fastened on and permanently adapts the tool for use with the other accessories. Not something that you are guaranteed to lose. I read the reviews and knew this wasn't a big hit with a lot of folks but I love every other Makita 18V tool I own. I'm committed to this LXT line of tools and batteries. The lack of a light in this thing is kind of annoying. I never realized how incredibly useful a tool with its own light was until they started putting them on drills. Please, guys, just put a little led light on every tool going forward. This thing is also a bit heavy, and it's GIRTHY! Which I've heard is great for some things, but for a cutting tool like this, it's a bit of a cumbersome handful. I will say that it ripped thru the cuts i needed it to make, i appreciate the speed adjustment, and it didn't get super hot even after I was deeply notching out a 4x4 for a while. I sure wish Id done it years ago. This first project is already looking better after 10 minutes of sanding than if Id spent an hour hand sanding. It has been only few weeks I have got this. So far it is great tool and very powerful. Comparing to my Harber Freight corded one it is much quieter and stronger. Off course it is heavier and longer. Being cordless makes it friendly and easy to use. My five star is for now. Time proves the real rating which I will edit my rating otherwise.

Makita should just copy this one. It has a light and feels much better in my hand. It has plenty of power too. The charger and battery are pretty much useless if you already have a collection of LXT batteries. It would be great if this one will hold up like the Makita Ive had AND USED HARD for several years. I use all my Makita LXT professionally. The only ones Ive burned up are a non-brushless drill (I abused it) and a 6-1/2 saw (probably same). The engineers on this semi-clone even put a light on it with a better locking mechanism. Only downside is that universal blades with an open end ... So, as owners of both multitools I would choose the Makita, one because I don't like to hold in the trigger on the DeWalt as it only gives you one way to hold it, and two, the lightness of the DeWalt makes it vibrate like crazy. The Makitamakes you feel more confident in your cuts because it's lack of vibration makes it seem more stable. I also have the Milwaukee M12 multitool, and the Fein corded multitool (shows how much these tools impress me!) and the Makita holds it's own with any of them. I would recommend the Makita multitool, especially if you have Makita 18V batteries and other Makita cordless tools. The DeWalt vibrates more than any of my other multitools, so keep that in mind if considering the DeWalt.
I have owned this tool for over a year now and have given it vigorous exercise several times a week since. These multi tools usually start making all sorts of racket after lots of use and are generally quite load right out of the box no matter who makes them. This one however still runs almost as smooth as new. Don’t get me wrong it is still a multi tool and still makes a lot of noise when cutting. I have used almost all the leading cordless multi tools and I would have to say this one is the quietest on the market. MoreI have owned this tool for over a year now and have given it vigorous exercise several times a week since. These multi tools usually start making all sorts of racket after lots of use and are generally quite load right out of the box no matter who makes them. This one however still runs almost as smooth as new. Don’t get me wrong it is still a multi tool and still makes a lot of noise when cutting. I have used almost all the leading cordless multi tools and I would have to say this one is the quietest on the market.
