Wow this thing is so cool! Amazing quality and features. I love the technology that helps you keep a tight load even if your pack is half empty. Its also super comfortable. The spine moves with your hips and doesn't dig in so it's easier for long hikes.I'm excited to try it out in Switzerland soon! Thanks again Altitude!

An excellent rucksack that is comfortable to wear for long hikes. Some difficulty fitting a Camelbak water reservoir tube (with bite cover) through the relevant gap in the rucksack so may need to see if Mammut make a reservoir specifically to fit their rucksacks. It would be great to have the option to adjust the back height of this rucksack. Only other feedback to the manufacturer, is there a better system or way to achieve what the top front chest fastening is designed to do? Some ladies might not find such a chest strap very comfortable and/or flattering.

Good bag, did everything I needed.

Good bag, quality materials. Fit well on my back and comfortable even when loaded. Some minor quibbles: The small valuables pocket is not very accessible when the bag is loaded, and the hip belt was pretty much maxed out in terms of compression when I had it on. If I was at all thinner I would not have been able to tighten it further. Granted I'm not very big but there are people smaller and thinner. All in all I would recommend.

Great bag!

Fantastic bag, super comfortable and packed everything I needed for a multiday hike: sleeping bag, inflatable mat, tent (obviously all of this was ultralight compact gear, but you wont be carrying bulky heavy stuff for this kind of thing anyway), a camera, tripod, and other bits.Love the external holders for walking poles and other useful pockets. Only thing Id say is that the bottom straps are not as nice as the bigger bags, it's an elastic system instead of the traditional straps of the 50-60 liter bag which looks much stronger. 100% recommend this bag.

Heavier than specs
17 May 2022

I used it for one weekend so far. It did give me pressure points on the collarbones. It seems to be better after some adjustements, but I have yet to test it again. It is also 1560 g instead of 1410 g what is specified... That was a little bit dissapointing.Further it is a robust yet light backpack with many handy features. It looks very durabile too.Service was great altogether. No 5 points because of wrong indicated weight.

The Mammut Ducan 28-35l purchase I just made is fantastic. I am 64 yr old female and have had many packs previously. This pack met my criteria and exceeded them.! I am 5' 11" feet tall, so the men's was the one for me. It fits incredibly well. I carry only one hiking pole and the side attachment works allowing me to stash the pole without removing pack. Water bladder sleeve is great. AIso, I can remove and replace a large Nalgene easily. The shoulder pockets are excellent for InReach, and personal products or phone. The side pocket looked small but my phone fits well. The removable pocket is waterproof though I have not decided which attachment point works best for me as yet. The front zipper is key to ease of searching. Having the option for extra carrying capacity ... MoreThe Mammut Ducan 28-35l purchase I just made is fantastic. One bag to rule them all

I took ages assessing almost every bag on the market available in the UK and stopped with this one. There were two/three issues with this bag but I'm so happy I took the plunge as they are significantly dwarfed by the pros. The issues? Lack of back length adjustment, weight (1.5kgs not a biggie) and non-removable waist belt. The pros? The 'spine' technology is simply amazing and unbelievably comfortable. The compression is superb in that with just day walking items it's slim and weighted extremely well, with a full expedition load it's got lots of access points and weights on hips/shoulders very very well. I would use this for 30-60l purpose. And again, the movement with the spine pivot is second to none...give the person a pay rise who thought of that! The material ... MoreI took ages assessing almost every bag on the market available in the UK and stopped with this one. Sweet Pack
5 September 2021

I just used this bag for the first time.. the spine technology is an absolute game changer with distributing the weight of the back and shifting as you move.Pack is super light and fits the body comfortably. The weight is a HUGE difference compared to regular packs. Everything fit well and it seems like it will durable for a while. After buying this pack I strictly want to purchase my outdoor gear from Mammut. Customer service was great, and the product exceeding my expectations. The one thing that bummed me out was when I pulled the thin draw string on the outside of the bag, the plastic piece ripped from the cords and made it harder to use. I had to tie a bunch of knots in it.

Very well made but...

I love this backpack! It is full of well executed features - from side pockets to middle zipper and expandable storage - all great. I love the colour as well. The quality is superb. Unfortunately whoever designed the straps and the back of it did not think of comfort. Shoulder straps need a lot more padding. That inovation at the back is not good - the smaller the surfice, the greater the pressure. It pokes at the spine and makes it very uncomfortable - for me at least. Gutted to sent it back.

comfortable, cheap looking, a few design flaws

Considering Mammut are meant to be a premium brand and that the description of this pack says it looks smart, it actually looks like something from Lidl. The luminous orange string and the vast unbroken expanse of shiny silver plastic of its main body is rather ugly. The plastic components are big, black and chunky, like rucksack parts from the 90s. Hanging next to my Montane pack with it's thin, waterproof Raptor fabric and small but well thought out components the Ducan looks very cheap and old fashioned indeed. It is perhaps 100 grams heavier than it ought to be, presumably because of the choice of overly thick and chunky materials.Despite appearances it's actually really comfortable, and the back system works well to keep your back cool, though the pads at top ... MoreConsidering Mammut are meant to be a premium brand and that the description of this pack says it looks smart, it actually looks like something from Lidl. It is perhaps 100 grams heavier than it ought to be, presumably because of the choice of overly thick and chunky materials.Despite appearances it's actually really comfortable, and the back system works well to keep your back cool, though the pads at top and bottom are large and thick and perhaps undo some of the good cooling work done by the mesh. The pack is held away from your back a perfect distance and unlike many Gregory and Osprey packs you can actually see clear daylight between you and the pack when wearing it, allowing an excellent flow of air. There are some odd design choices.I appreciate the attempt to borrow some features from running packs. The shoulder strap mesh pockets, which really sold me on this pack, are actually far too small and very low down, useless for soft flasks which are usually what you would put into this sort of pocket. If I want to carry water in these pockets I have to use very slim plastic bottles. The built in pocket in the left hip is small but still manages to protrude and get in the way of your arm, perhaps because of its position and the stiffness of the fabric. The ladies version has a clever extra drop down section for a phone, the unisex version does not which is a shame and limits utility. The right hip has pole carrying strings, kind of odd, works ok with my short z poles but the poles are only held in one point in the centre so they wobble, longer poles wobble intolerably. I thought this feature would be really cool but actually another pocket would have been more useful, I'd prefer an across the chest pole carry like Raidlight packs have.Internally the pack is fine with a very standard layout. the rain cover is a very bright orange which is good as a safety feature in low visibility. It carries a load well and transfers weight to the hips efficiently.I would use this to carry a 5 to 7 kilo load in a hot country, such as a summer Camino if I was expecting to camp. Main pack volume is large for 24 litres and I can fit tent and sleeping bag and clothes etc in there. So its a useful pack, and since I got it at a big discount I don't feel ripped off, but Mammut could do better with the materials, weight and some of the design elements.
