The quality and size are perfect, they super comfortable and warm so wearing them in the city is great, but...They extremely slippery... Even my summer gumshoes behave better than this one.And its not only about snow or ice. Event cold pavement, or just dirty trail almost impossible to walk - always thinking about balance.Which is completely strange - they have a nice deep protector. It supposes to be good for trekking purposes, but for some reason It's completely opposite and doesnt help. Moreover, ground stick into it so when you go home you need to clean them manually every time, otherwise - tons of soil in your hall is guarantied.

I gave 3 stars. The quality of the boots are very good. However, seems that these boots are ment for flat feet. No arch support whatsoever. The insole is completely flat and a very cheap foam. For the price you pay, the insoles should be of a much better quality and support. I went for a hike to break them in, and got to return early due to a lot of pain in my feet.

High Quality Craftsmanship with subpar insole and easily scuffed toe cap.

The outsole is phenomenal, great grip; excellent rubber. but it feels like walking on concrete; BUY INSOLES IMMEDIATELY! The look is great and I would only recommend these for walking around urbanized areas where it rains more. The toecap is easily scuffed, and since I only walk down our driveway and use them in an indoor facility for work at the moment, I don't know how they would make it across some rough boulders or more treacherous ground. Nice toebox size, plenty of room; not for a narrow foot.

I was wearing a German
29 March 2024

I was wearing a German shoe but they were a little narrow and hurt my foot. Long gone are the days when someone would measure your foot and offer a suitable shoe. Still on advice of my podiatrist I looked for a better shoe and found these Swiss made shoes. They are very lightweight and extremely comfortable even for my broad foot. And before the shoes even arrived I purchased a second pair and am pleased that I did,

Mercury IV MID GTX
1 December 2023

My first pair of MID hiking shoes. I am very impressed by the colour and the quality of these Mammut shoes, the GTX waterproof performance is brilliant. The grip is great and feels solid on all grounds. It keeps your feet and ankles warm as well in cold weather. I would say everything about this pair of shoes are very well rounded for all weather. However, on icy roads it was slightly slippery for me. Other than that I love this pair of shoes. Highly recommended for all activities (except for very icy conditions of course).

Mercury IV disappointment
26 December 2022

I am using the Mercury III for a few years and loved them a lot, offering great balance between lightweight, strength and comfort. However, after the Mercury III started to wear out, I ordered online the Mercury IV (from TradeInn.com) and was extremely disappointed, even before I walked the first step in them..For starter, my size for the Mercury III (10.5) was way too big for me in the Mercury IV, so I had to reorder size 10. Then the width of the shoe was too narrow (about 5mm narrower than the Mercury III!), and the height was too high (about 10mm higher than the Mercury III), so I ended up with the wrong size and bad fit altogether. And probably the worst part: all that costed me a lot more than I expected: two tax fees, two deliveries to Israel and one ... MoreI am using the Mercury III for a few years and loved them a lot, offering great balance between lightweight, strength and comfort. Overall I paid TWICE the cost of the shoes for the overheads, all due to wrong sizing.I wish Mammut mentioned these changes in their product in advance and avoiding this confusion.

Mercury IV goretex boots
23 March 2024

Ordered these and the delivery took around 3 week, much more than indicated when originally ordered. I read lots of info regarding sizing which was contradictory. However as a normal size 9 I ordered 9.5. Happily these fitted perfectly. They look great. I have waxed the leather and am looking forward to many miles of happy hiking.I can't yet report on anything other than the comfortable fit.

Ready to go out of the box!
28 September 2023

I had heard of this brand from friends and had been waiting for my old boots to wear out so I could justify buying a new pair. I got these and right away I was impressed with the craftsmanship of them. No stitching flaws or anything like that so I slipped them on and they felt like they were tail ready from the second I had my foot in them. I laced them up and hit the trail with my dog for a 4 mile loop. No hot spots, no stiff points, and overall I was very impressed. The trail was wet and I never slipped or felt unstable so the Vibram sole performed well. I’m a big fan so far and based on their performance up to this point, I would highly recommend them.

Replacement for discontinued Brecon
29 January 2024

Mammut suggested Mercury as the closest product to the Brecon. The Brecon was robust, hard-wearing, comfortable out of the box & supportive. I've been walking the Mercury in for about 6 weeks and they still dig in on the ankles. The leather is softer & feels thinner & the boot isn't as supportive as the Brecon. The soles are very flexible whereas the Brecons were strong & rigid. They feel sloppy & cheap to me. They are waterproof & the grip is OK but slippery on smooth rock/stone surfaces.

Very good boots
11 June 2024

These are my first pair of Mammut boots and, I couldn't be happier with them. The fit is excellent and the comfort straight out of the box is fantastic.I used them on a 15 mile hike around the Cheviot in some pretty challenging terrain and the confidence from their grip and stability was immediately noticeable as soon as it started to get more challenging off the beaten track. My next boot buy is likely going to be the Sapuen or, if I can get them, the Ducan high GTX for enhanced ankle stability
