Mammut Zephir Altitude Climbing harness (S, grey) - Part of the Zephir line and Eiger Extreme collection, the Mammut Zephir Altitude climbing harness is one of the higher end models offered by the Swiss mountain sport experts. The very lightweight, comfortable harness is destined to take on the Alps, regardless of whether you're embarking on a high mountain or ski tour. It's got adjustable leg loops, gear loops, four ice screw carabiner attachments and a drop seat buckle. This will allow you to take off the harness without having to take off your crampons. Drop seats are also a great thing to have when nature calls, especially when you're roped up on a glacier. As all harnesses in the Zephir Line, the Zephir Altitude is equipped with the patented split webbing. Split webbing is a special weave, which results in a better load distribution across the entire waist belt and leg loops. This along with the use of lightweight, yet strong Dyneema bands in the easily adjustable leg loops makes this harness particularly lightweight and packable whilst still meeting all safety requirements. Another great thing about this harness is that you can wear it with a backpack as well.

Very minimalist. Looking forward to putting it to use in the backcountry next month.fairly easy to get on with crampons/ ski onFits well with my climbing pack!!
Very good choice for alpine mountaineering. Lightweight, easy to get on and off, durable material, and looks great as well. I put my full weight into this harness for 30 minutes while practicing crevasse rescue. It was reasonably comfortable for a lightweight harness. I chose this harness instead of another popular harness brand which I found to be uncomfortable when weighted. My only small complaint with this one is that the buckle can be a little tricky to tighten at first, but you get used it after a short while. I would buy this harness again given the choice.
I was looking for a glacier travel harness to replace my CAMP Blitz. My specifications were that it had to be comfortable, light weight, fully adjustable with a drop seat and an easy waist belt. I thought that the Zephir would meet all of these when I purchased it and it did meet most of my expectations. It was light, fully adjustable and I loved the click buckle. However, the legs were so short that the leg loops came across my seat instead of underneath which made it very uncomfortable. The straps that attach the waist to the leg loops are very short even for me at 5'4 (for reference the straps are about half the length as the Blitz). I couldn't get over the short legs so I returned it.
This harness is exceptionally light! It has just enough room for gear for glacier travel and alpine climbing objectives. I wouldn't want to hang in it for long periods of time, but when you need to wear a harness all day it feels like nothing is there. The easy on/off buckles are great for on the fly transitions without having to step into anything.
Climbed Mt Pollux with it and it turned out to be the ideal equipment.
I have yet to use this on a climb, but I tried it on with all my gear and it is extremely small for a size M. Comfortable enough, but I would size up.
