A great replacement for my old soundbar.

I bought this a month ago to replace my 11 year old Onkyo 609 receiver that was working intermittently. I've paired it with my Canton 5.1 speakers and it sounds great. I was a little worried I was pairing a lower wattage receiver (60W) with higher wattage speakers (100W), but it was fine. Mind you I'm not cranking the volume up, perhaps there's issues at higher volumes. I chose this receiver because of the bluetooth headphone output option, not many receivers at this price range have that feature. Please check the dims and make sure it will fit where you want it, this receiver is very deep and it barely fit in my TV stand. Overall, very pleased with my purchase.

Excellent receiver with lots of great features
3 July 2020

I was looking to replace a 10-year old AV receiver and preferably wanted a slimline form factor. The Marantz NR1510 ticked that box for me but also has some great features, some of which I had not expected. First of all it's performing really well in my 5.1 system and sounds great with Blu-Rays as well as streaming through the Netflix app on my TV. Since it has ARC, I am able to route the audio from my TV to my surround speakers. I really like that I can Airplay straight to the receiver so in no time I can have music playing from my phone or my laptop. I don't even have to turn the receiver on, it just comes on automatically (and shuts down on its own too) and automatically switches to the correct HDMI input. I don't even have to turn the receiver on, it just comes on automatically (and shuts down on its own too) and automatically switches to the correct HDMI input. With my old receiver I'd have to turn it on, find the correct HDMI input and then start playing music, but with this I don't have to worry about that. It also doesn't run very warm at all. My previous receiver was a heat monster so that's a great upgrade for me. I also really like using the app which allows me to change volume and input if I'm not close to my remote, which I don't really have to use much now as my phone can do it all. I've also been playing music through my front two channels and it sounds great. I've tried it through streaming via Spotify, Tidal, hi-res tracks via a USB stick as well as a CD player and it has all sounded good to me. It comes with Heos capability which uses an app and that contains lots of options for streaming. The only quirk of Heos is that you can't actually fast forward or seek forward or backwards in a track, which is a little odd. On the whole I find it much quicker to Airplay but it's great to have options. I've also set up a network drive that allows me to play my library of files from my CD collection and that has worked well so far. Once set up (which was easy), the Marantz gets out of the way and just lets me get to my video or audio content, whether it's live TV, Blu-Rays or video and audio streaming services, and sounds great while it does it, which is really what AV receivers should do.

Fantastic value and tremendous facilities

I'm both delighted and astonished with this feature packed AV amp/receiver from Marantz. The set up does take some time but it is well worth it. The unit is supplied with a test microphone and temporary mic stand to allow the amplifier to align itself to your room as well as testing levels and phasing. I needed an amp with a pre-amp front L&R output as I use a Naim hi-fi amp powering Linn speakers for the front L&R stereo, which is quite tricky to configure within my 5.1 set up but sounds fabulous once balanced. The remote control has limited choices of digital surround sound but in many ways that makes life simpler. I am very happy with this product!!

Good but not great
20 September 2021

Had this amp for about a year now. I purchased because I needed a slim one to fit where I wanted it while still allowing a good airflow around it. It's being used as a general all purpose lounge amp. It's fit for purpose in that it doesn't sound bad by any means played through my Mordaunt Shorts. However, the sound is nowhere near as deep as my older Arcam 7 nor the Yamaha rx that it replaced (the Yamaha motherboard died so not going back to them). The volume is not perfect. I generally have it at 60% volume for movies, I've never had any amp where I'm running it that high all the time. There have been occasions where I'd like it a little more power for weekend music. The bass is a bit soft, you have to crank it up on the amp and sub and at those levels it's just ... MoreHad this amp for about a year now. The bass is a bit soft, you have to crank it up on the amp and sub and at those levels it's just not sounding that punchy with music but it's ok for films, again if you crank it.The GUI is horrific. It's like a dot-matrix screen that really needs bringing to the 21st century. Putting in your wifi network password is something you never wants to have to do twice on this thing, being a list of upper and lower case letters and symbols in a list view ..why not a qwerty keyboard layout?.Similarly the app is pretty poor. It continuously loses the amp so you have to go through re-selecting it before you can use it. Sometimes it doesn't find it either which is really frustrating.Take note if you have a 10bit TV. Marantz state it's HDR10 compatible. It is, however you do have to set that up in the amp settings (set 4k from standard to enhanced). The GUI will tell you you don't have a 10bit TV even when you do, but select 'enhanced' regardless and it will then broadcast your 10bit source (sky Q in my case). If this is not set in the amp you will only get 8bit, Sky will simply not deliver you a picture when selecting 10bit in the Sky settings - this left me scratching my head for a while so worth noting.Otherwise however a perfectly suitable amp. Has been reliable, just the app that's not so. I would buy a Marantz again but only a newer, updated model and slightly more powerful.Just to add, great service from RS as always. Will be back soon.

Good value slim profile AV amp
8 August 2022

Bought as an updated AV amp, particularly wanted one smaller than our previous model for a reduced size TV cabinet/stand. Standard width but significantly smaller in height but delivers good output and doesn't feel cramped at the back for all the surround sound speaker and HDMI ports etc- only supports 5.1 but this was all we were requiring.Settings interface is a little bit clunky and feels a touch dated. but standard type of menu cascade which didn't pose too many navigation issues. Particularly liked the surround sound set up using an included microphone and cardboard tower- took about 15-20mins having to reposition 6 times but not particularly onerous and will probably a one off procedure unless you change your room setup/speaker arrangement.Overall good ... MoreBought as an updated AV amp, particularly wanted one smaller than our previous model for a reduced size TV cabinet/stand. This is my second Marantz receiver. I went in search of others. Did some listening at BestBuy, my local HiFi store, and Nebraska Furniture Mart. Tried several other makers, and kept coming back to this brand and model.Set up was easy, although the NEED for a TV to do the set up was a bit annoying (I am using this for music only, and not paired with my TV/DVR). The good: audio quality is great, been enjoying it very much. The unit is very small for an AV receiver, but still with lots of I/O options. Definite upgrade from my older Onkyo device and I'm generally very happy with it.The decent: the on-screen user interface could be from 1980s (poor even comparison to my old Onkyo from 11+ years ago) but despite looking crummy the setup for WiFi, airplay, spotify and microphone calibration was all very smooth and painless. The front display has some poor design choices - volume level is displayed in tiny 7-segments in the corner that are hard to read from a distance and the main display is taken up by audio type (dolby digital, pro logic, DTS etc) and I can't find any options to customise it. It's limited to 5.1 and it's only 4k (not 8k) compatible so low on future-proofing, but neither of those limitations bother me much. Airplay is convenient but note that it's audio only, so no way to mirror screen using the AVR.The poor: At one point the unit stopped receiving audio via ARC from my Samsung TV (only ARC compatible, not eARC) and I had to power cycle both devices at the plug to make them reconnect successfully again. Suspect this may be an HDMI-CEC compatibility issue between devices or potentially an issue caused by the "Eco mode" on the Marantz which I've since disabled. As a result I'm keeping an eye on it and have a TOSLink optical cable ready in case it turns out to be a recurring issue, but that loses the lipsync functionality and I'd rather not resort to it.

Perfect slimline AV receiver
7 December 2022

I wanted a new quality AV receiver that would be powerful enough to deliver drive my 2 Q accoustic 3010's and 3 yamaha NSP51's but at the same time fit into my media centre in the living room. The NR1510 was the perfect fit for all these requirements. Once fully set up using the TV's eARC and HDMI inputs in the back I was able to get full control using my 1 tv remote and excellent sound quality. It should be noted however that It is likely that you will need to tailor the speaker output accordingly for your specific space even after the initial setup, and if your are new to this type of audio set up then there is a small learning curve on what all the settings mean and how you get full control and connectivity to your TV and other devices.
