The PM6005 can connect to a vast range of digital sources and use its superior DAC to create an unbelievably high level of audio enjoyment with new media.Marantz have retained the pre-amp and power-amp sections that exclusively feature discrete components – not a single IC in sight of the signal path. That’s because specially selected single components not only outperform ICs in quality, they also make it possible to refine the sound in much more detail, resulting in more clarity and transparency. Also present is the lower impedance shielded Toroidal transformer, as well as the customized main capacitors. All of the original features - such as five-line audio input including phono, two-pairs of gold-plated speaker connections with the convenience of bi-wiring, and a remote handset - are still there. This unit also includes optical and coaxial digital inputs. The DAC is the 24bit192kHz high current CS4398, which is already proven in many Premium Range products. And the complete digital section is fully shielded by an extra metal housing to ensure that the digital stage has no effect on the analogue signal.

I needed a replacement for my Rotel RA-930AX and was torn between the Marantz PM6006 and the Rotel A10. I listen mostly to classical music, particularly Radio 3. I really liked the neutral sound of my old Rotel and I knew it performed well with my sources and speakers. Richer Sounds were selling the Marantz at a really good price and I decided to buy it albeit with some trepidation. I'm glad that I did - the Marantz outperforms my old amplifier. The amplifier sounds neutral but the bass is punchier and clearer. The sound is more tight and controlled and voices sound even more natural even when the volume is cranked up. This is definitely noticeable when playing rock and pop music, prompting me to play my CD collection more and I have rediscovered my vinyl ... MoreI needed a replacement for my Rotel RA-930AX and was torn between the Marantz PM6006 and the Rotel A10. I bought this amp as it was part of a package deal to go with my first choice of speaker, the Monitor Audio Bronze 5 - picked because of their strong reviews but also because they have a high wife acceptance factor! In fairness, even if it wasn't part of a deal then I may well have bought it anyway, as it was getting some good praise elsewhere on the internet. The amp is a kind of dual use, it gets most usage on the TV but it does have its fair share of music playback as we are both big music lovers, and this is the reason we opted for this over a surround sound system. Its a nice looking, well made, solid piece of kit. It has all the features I was after, remote control, tone controls, loudness function, digital to analogue converter built in, its a perfect fit ... MoreI bought this amp as it was part of a package deal to go with my first choice of speaker, the Monitor Audio Bronze 5 - picked because of their strong reviews but also because they have a high wife acceptance factor! I figured though all the good reviews probably can't be all wrong, and the fact that it was chosen to be part ofa bundle with my #1 choice in speaker was encouraging.I can honestly say I am happy with the purchase. How much of the sound I'm hearing is down to the speakers I can't be sure, but what I am hearing is a smooth, warm, lush sound with powerful bass and good timing, and with plenty of details and impressive dynamics. In fact there has been no need to use the loudness or tone controls because the sound is just right as it is. We both really enjoy the combo for both TV and music where it particularly excels. It's worth mentioning there have been no issues with it. If I was nit picking, I'd say the volume control on the remote is a little bit too sensitive, but that being said, the remote is way better than the one on my NAD D3020.Overall I am very happy. Its a very nice piece of kit. Well made. Fully featured. Pleasing sound. What more can one ask for at this price? It's amazing what you can get nowadays for so little money.

I'm so happy with my Marantz PM6006 amp. I needed to replace my Marantz PM-4200 (lasted about 20yrs). Thought I'd go for the up to date, upgraded version and it's superb quality. Delivery arrived in the expected time and goods were all fine. The delivery driver didn't ask me for a signiture - as stated by Richer Sounds -they are meant to. I told him to wait while I checked the parcel was the correct goods as DHL driver seemed in a hurry. I'd take care to make sure DHL are dropping of the right thing and asking for a signiture if you choose delivery. Had it for a week and pristeen sound quality. Couldn't be happier.
Brought the Marantz PM6006 UK Edition amplifier three weeks ago. I must say that it has superb sound through my old Ms20i Pearl Edition stand mount speakers. I am astonished how good this amp sounds. Would easily put amplifiers twice the price competition. It works with my old CD63 Ki Sig II via remote link as well !. Brought this for its optical inputs so I can connect to my smart TV and because it has true Bi-Wire speaker terminals (8 posts) and because of the superb capacitor upgrades made over the previous version. I even took the lid off to check the upgrades and there are some good Elna Silimic caps in there which are some of the best available. The Bass is outstanding , I thought my speakers had reasonable Bass before I connected this amp, but can't believe ... MoreBrought the Marantz PM6006 UK Edition amplifier three weeks ago. This amp has made massive improvements to sound of my speakers and show just how good my speakers are. I"m so pleased with my purchase and will keep my old speakers now as absolutely no reason to replace. Not keen on the balance control as difficult to set in middle position, but I always use sourdec direct so always bypass any bass, treble and balance settings anyhow. Well built, solid and matches my old CD63 player quite well. WELL DONE MARANTZ.
I've had various amps in my time and ended up with a Quad 405. However, it was showing its age and really needed an upgrade. I did the usual trawl of the Internet to find 'real' reviews in the sure knowledge that many of the big players were hosts to ficticious and woefully dishonest reviews. In the end it came down to a few choices, one of which was the Maranz. I ended up looking at a Richer Sounds Review and took my lead from there. Having bought stuff from Richer Sounds before and experienced their honest way of selling equipment, I reckoned that their opinion of the Maranz was going to be an honest appraisal.I got it home and wired it up very easily. I bought the 6006 to replace my pretty good Denon pma 355 which i had over 15 years and has served me very well. The problem was a fault with mode switching until the unit warmed up and at times these was distortion but once warmed up it was a pretty decent amp which sounded quite bright but bass I always felt was not quite natural. I knew there was a problem when one considers the upgrades I already have in place. Russ Andrew yellow mains cable for the amp and Marantz 6002 CD player. Tacima CS9476-Way Mains Conditioner. I've got Van den hul 'the name' interconnects to CD player. QED bi wire Silver anniversary speaker cable going into Tannoy 607's with wet sand loaded into the stands. I also have isolation to all speakers and units. One would think this is a pretty decent unit hey... Wrong, when I plugged in the Supa dupa Marantz 6006 amp, it has just blown everything else away. The bass is tighter, richer and punchier and more real like you were in the recording room with the band. I can hear the electric bass guitar in Pat Metheny's 'we live here' album sounding like it had brand new strings, PM's guitar sounded like he had brand new strings too and more, the whole group also followed suit. The sound stage is much more balanced. You hear classical passages coming alive on a heatwave album track which I had never played to the very end previously. The amp has transformed this particular track into a classical soul hit. The warmth in the middle, the crystal clear hi's and such better bass just made everything feel like heaven on earth. Marantz have really done a great job with this modern, more refined, more versatile quality amp. What i had before was pretty good but this is awesome. I only use one remote for amp and CD now. Another thing I noticed when I took the 6006 out of the box was the sheer weight of it This is no lightweight in all meanings. A great upgrade and the best money i have spent on music for over a decade. I would not hesitate to shop for anything else at the price and would certainly recommending the 6006 to anyone.
I am really pleased with this purchase, which was done to complement a pair of KEF Q150 speakers. There's plenty of power available to drive my speakers, sound is as you would expect, crystal clear, and a very wide frequency response. The added convenience of the 3 digital inputs is superb because I can now run a streamer as well as a USB Bluetooth DAC and still have a co-axial to spare for a remaining digital device! And that brings me to the only real issue. There is some faint background hiss / noise / hum on the digital inputs observable under certain conditions. You will not notice this if there is nothing being sent to the input (in which case the respective input LED flashes to indicate no signal). But if you play some music to the input, press pause on ... MoreI am really pleased with this purchase, which was done to complement a pair of KEF Q150 speakers. You will not notice this if there is nothing being sent to the input (in which case the respective input LED flashes to indicate no signal). But if you play some music to the input, press pause on your device, and turn the volume up to at least 75%, you can hear a kind of "digital" hiss superimposed on some mains hum.I have to stress that under normal use, this is simply not audible. To my ears, it does not detract from the amazing sound quality in any way. But it was a little surprising since one of the main attractions of optical links is the supposed lack of background noise. The same noise is not present on the analogue inputs, just a very faint (and expected) hum.Other that this, I am very happy with the amp. It sounds amazing and it's a keeper!
I wanted to upgrade my existing setup I'd had for 5 years as I felt the sound was a bit thin.Comparing this with a Denon amplifier with similar spec, and looking at reviews I decided to go for the Marantz. I had one in the mid 80's and always liked the sound so there was some confidence in my decision. Due to the fact Richer Sounds were selling this as a bundle with a CD player, I thought I'd go for it.Very glad I did, the sound is very full and smooth, and the fact that I can have it on source direct without the need to play around with bass and treble speaks volumes. For my setup, I purchased the Monitor Audio Bronze 1 speakers, and for me the pairing is perfect. Fantastic bass and treble and very clean sound. It's changed my listening experience. Firstly I have dealt with richer sounds for over 40 years and they are and have always been an excellent company to deal with. The Marantz amplifier has surpassed expectation. I listen to a variety of music and obviously have not played all of my cd,s since purchase but I can notice in particular with live albums a sense of being there. I could previously only catch about 20% of Kate Bush lyrics whereas this amp and cd combo has boosted that to about 80%. All of the cd,s that I have tried are clearer and more musically alive than before. Also the television through the optical in connection makes up for actors that mumble against overly loud background music. This is undoubtably the best system I have owned.
