Excellent hold when you want your skis to stay on, but reliable release when you push a bit past your limits and eat snow. They have a good range of DIN settings to suite a newer skier, but you can crank them down hard if you prefer to keep them in place. For the bang for your buck, it would be hard to go wrong with the Marker Griffon 13's. I have mine mounted on Nordica Soul Rider 97's. It's been a really good match for riding everything from back country trails to bumps and jumps and a little park action. Overall, I'm very pleased with them.

I have recently returned to skiing after a 15 year hiatus so it took a bit of reading, research and a few rentals to figure out some of the new tech that was on the market. I had previously been a die-hard Saloman bindings guy but all of the rental and demo skis I used had Marker Bindings on them. I looked at Saloman's line but I guess I just got comfortable with the Marker and opted for them for my new skis. I don't have anything to compare them to so I'll just say that they are great looking and so far they do the job well. I also purchased a pair for my wife's new skis and I'm afraid that might not have been the right choice for her. She is 5'5" tall and 130#. She has a difficult time stepping into the bindings and getting the heel piece to click in. I knew this was a potential issue from what I had read about the Griffon but she is not a beginner so I took a chance. The frustration level is just too high for her so I am going to go replace the Griffons on her skis with the Marker Squire. It seems to be a better choice within the Marker line for lighter skiers. Other than that difficulty for her, I think the Griffon 13D is a great, well made binding and I expect mine to last for many many years.
Perfect replacement for very old Griffons. New boots with GripWalk soles were not compatible with my old Griffons. These were a perfect replacement with GW compatible toe piece. Was able to use original plate on rear, and front screw pattern was identical so quick swap.
There are many good and relatively safe ski bindings on the market these days. I have or do own most of them. HOWEVER...I started skiing Marker in 1963. Big deal, right? Well they have come along way which is why this Griffonis appealing to me. NOTE the foot print of both the toe and even more so the heel. It does not occupy a great deal of surface area of my ski AND there fore the flex of the ski is much less effected than many alpine ski bindings.My .02
Skied on these marker Griffon 13 ID 12 days 2021 ski season. Had 2 significant falls and both times skis released appropriately and protected my knees. No early releases or unexpected performance issues. Buying a second set to mount on a spare pair. The Griffon is an excellent binding for resort groomers, steep flat and bumps, and 8+ inches fresh snow. An earlier review mentioned difficulty getting back in binding in deep snow. True, it does take some force to lock in but I haven't had any problems. I'm over 60 with some joint issues. I really don't want to break or tear anything at my age. I now have confidence that these bindings will reliably connect me and release only if needed.Great binding.

How do you review a binding? Erm... it feels solid, it sounds solid, it keeps your foot attached to a stick and it comes off predictably and safely when you want it to. I can't speak to it releasing since I didn't yard sale, but the rest felt right. It feels like a solid piece of equipment and built strong. I don't think I'm particularly hard on my ski equipment, so I expect this binding to reach its full life and then some. It sounds solid on click-in with a chunk click. Not soft or mushy. Kinda like a truck door closing. And it never let me down with improper releases. Some say it is kinda stiff to enter in soft snow. It's firm. I don't have these on pow skis and didn't hit fluff to put them on. Can't really comment there. But maybe some of those comments are a ... MoreHow do you review a binding? I have an older pair of these on another set of skis and this newer pair does feel smoother (cleaner, greased?). They feel like a great compliment to my bomb-proof skis.
I am an avid skier with over 80 days per year, I've been using these binding for a couple of years now. Fully trust them to perform perfectly. These binding came exactly as expected, no surprises. Very happy with Moosejaw delivering exactly what they advertise, usually with a touch of good humor to make the whole thing fun.
