great little practice amp, was well worth the wait. amp arrived with no dents bashes or scratches. only problem was the length of time for delivery (but thats to be expected during covid lock down) back to irritating my neighbours with amped up guitar scales... :)

I love the clean sound in this tiny amp. The dirty channel sounds great as well, but doesn't have a lot of gain. And since this amp doesn't have eq, you don't get a lot of option when it comes to tweaking. I would recommend getting the MG15 if you can spend some more. I wanted a small practice amp for my apartment. This one serves the purpose. Also, it looks great and you get that Marshall feel in terms of looks and sound. Overall, for the price, this thing is a killer!

Awesome overdrive
10 January 2011

I tried the fender frontman 10 watt and was very disappointed in the distortion tone. the mg10 has throaty, powerful o.d. that is unmatched by fellow practice amps. The clean channel suits my needs entirely. I use it to amp my acoustic-electric occasionally and it does great.3 things surprised me when i first bought this:1. Noise. It hummmmed softly to itself constantly; even on clean channel. On overdrive the hum increased exponentially, but that was due in large to my poor wiring job on my home made les paul(epi humbuckers). It is much quieter now.2. Gain. when the gain knob is under half, the tone is rather different. Not what i would call soft distortion; more like clean with a muffled 'chunk' in the background. right at noon, the marshall distortion really ... MoreI tried the fender frontman 10 watt and was very disappointed in the distortion tone. the mg10 has throaty, powerful o.d. that is unmatched by fellow practice amps. VOLUME. this amp is almost too loud for me. i play on its quietest volume i can when i'm practicing. plenty of loudness to play with an 30-watt(or less) amp.If you play hard rock, classic rock, modern (3 doors down, Third Day), or best of all Van Halen; get this amp, tune up your frankenstrat, and play Ain't talkin bout love. it sounds so great on this little marshall you'll have to change your pants.

Decent Practice Amp
3 May 2010

I have had this amp for nearly four years now. At first it was pretty reliable but after about three years it started making strange sounds while I was playing. These sounds could only be stopped by hitting the amp a few times. This has become particularly annoying. But, despite this, I still think it was worth the money. It is perfect for practicing in your bedroom or something like that. It has a surprising amount of volume for its size. One other downfall of this amp however is its distortion. The distortion is really pathetic so I recommend investing in a distortion pedal if you plan to buy this amp to play rock.

Nice little amp without the cost of vintage High Demand amps.

Sounds really good for what it is. My Niece Started playing Electric and my big amps were way too much for her skill level. I looked for Pignoses and Mustangs but could not justify the cost yet. Bought this for her and I am impressed.

I'm known as a Marshall-hater, and that's because IMHO Marshall has forsaken the "Marshall sound" over the last 20 years or so. Why bow down to Mesa-Boogie thunder when you have the Marshall roar to fall back on? But I digress. For an inexpensive, solid-state practice amp, I'm thoroughly impressed with this little beast. It has the crunch that made Marshall famous, the drive that made Marshall infamous, and the warm clean sound that usually gets overlooked in a good Marshall. I usually play around with one of these whenever I see one, just because I like the tone so much. I'm just about ready to abandon my tube snobbery and pick one of these up. You always need a good bedroom amp, right? Seriously, if you're looking for an inexpensive amp that sounds great, this is ... MoreI'm known as a Marshall-hater, and that's because IMHO Marshall has forsaken the "Marshall sound" over the last 20 years or so.
