My New Fave!

Nice! I may have found my new favorite! I finally broke down & tried Blue Swift (I normally drink Martell VSOP). I love this one. It's cognac, but smoother (maybe because it's finished in bourbon casks). It doesn't taste like bourbon, just a smoother cognac. I will continue to buy this one. Highly recommended!

Pleasant! I think I've discovered a new fave! I gave in and tried Blue Swift at last (I normally drink Martell VSOP). I really like this. It is cognac, but because it was aged in bourbon barrels, it is smoother. It tastes more like a smoother cognac than bourbon. I'll keep purchasing this one. highly advisable

Im reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. I am not a regular Brandy drinker but to my taste after an initial taste of smoothness and sweetness there is quite a strong bitter aftertaste which reminds me of the times when I have sampled quality malt whisky in the past. Perhaps this is due to the Bourbon cask aging of the spirit drink (as it is labelled because even though it is made of 100% Cognac VSOP they are not allowed to call it Cognac). Not sure is to my taste to be honest I think it might have been nicer without the extra Bourbon aging but it will make nice special coffees!

Powerful Flavors And Mild Strength

This one sneaks up on you. Simply fashioned flavor with a bourbon undertone—no pretense. The contrasts are subtle and full of volume and substance. The conclusion is simple and satisfying.

Smooth taste with a wonderful nose... Finish is,,,
11 February 2019

meh. I'm sorry to all that love this spirit. For me the Martell Blue Swift is very smooth and has a wonderful nose but the finish to me is like some kind cough drops. I was expecting some kind of wonderful marriage with the use of Bourbon casks used but I'm not. I'm more of a Bourbon fan so my pallet may not be as refined for Cognac but I'm not liking this. For the $40+ or so spent on a full size bottle of this I'd rather go for a Four Roses Single Barrel and have change left over for something else. Again my apologies. I don't mean to offend.

Smooth, warm and Added to my collection

I believe each individual has unique taste buds. I am no expert, just for leisure drinking after an exhausting day at work, or celebrating with family members or friends. At first I was hesitant to try Martell Blue Swift but based on the board’s individual review that one has to taste it to familiarize your tasting buds.Cognacs are for sipping and not for straight up shot drink. I have learned from an article to fully enjoy cognac drink one needs to sip it and exhale your breathe slowly out to your mouth discreetly. To enjoy its full essence, taste, and calming effects. This is a good starting point to drink cognac which give favorable response to your taste buds. Something for everyone
6 November 2019

I don't drink Brandy myself but here is the review from my parents-in-law... Very smooth but there is a substantial front and back taste, front taste is all cognac which leads gently on to a strong bourbon back taste which is lasting. Quite unusual as father in law not a great fan of French brandy and mum in law no great fan of whiskey but this is very palatable and greatly liked by them both. Father in law said he'd like it mixed with dry ginger but at the price point it's at he wouldn't want to mix it. He said there are better brandies if you are willing to spend a little more money. It seems the price point is not cheap enough to mix but not tasty enough to warrant asking as much as is listed, so it lost a point for that. A solid 4/5. Thanks for letting us review it.

The finish is its achilles heel

I love cognac. And I've heard good things about Martell, particularly the higher end bottles. So, I decided to give this a try. Is has all the qualities of a good cognac: smooth, silky, spicy with a hint of grape sweetness. Then comes the finish. I'd liken it to cough drops. It settles on your tongue and lingers with a strong Eucalyptus menthol taste that's reminiscent of mouth wash.I wanted to love this. And despite having several good qualities, the finish just kills it. In this approximate price range, I strongly recommend the Hine Rare VSOP. Tastes like drinking sunshine.

VSOP cognac with a spicy depth
26 March 2022

As a lover of cognac, I've been rather curious about the Martell Blue Swift when perusing the shelves in Liquorland. Finally purchased a bottle this week and I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised at how good this tasted.Essentially, this is 4 year old VSOP cognac further aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels. The finished product cannot be called cognac because it is not fully aged in French Limousine oak casks, so it is labelled, 'Spirit Drink'.The final finishing in the bourbon barrels gives this a lovely spicy quality but still has that wonderful VSOP elegance in the spirit. If you see this and were curious like me, give this a go because I think that you will be pleasantly surprised!

We had 2 bottles for a Halloween Party
28 October 2019

I have never had this before and had two bottles gifted to me this weekend at a birthday/Halloween a party. I never noticed a cough drop aftertaste but then again, I'm not the kind of person who savors the aftertaste that much. All I know if the guy who brought it had everyone take a shot or 2 and the whole part was wasted by midnight. I don't know how you feel about the aftertaste, but the drink was quite smooth and easy to enjoy. I'd recommend it. However, the Jay-Z Cognac is still my favorite.
