Love the big sound from the smaller size, and when it’s plugged up, the sound will amaze you! It holds its tune well. I leave mine hanging on my bedroom wall for the most part, and here in sweet home Alabama you can never tell what the weather is gonna be like from time to time(except, you know it’s always gonna be humid). Therefore, the HPL seems to a great tune holder for the humid type weather here. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck, and not to mention, the gig bag is a great addition, and fairly nice one at that in my opinion.

This guitar is made like a tank. It has excellent tone and plays like butter. I was impressed with the looks and craftsmanship. Great action right out of the box and the frets were perfect. If your looking for a player that wont break the bank this is it.

Sounds gorgeous when played... by my guitar teacher :) Nice deep mellow tone to my ears and easy action too. And I love the included soft, but tough, travel case. Looking forward to many years practicing and playing.

I bought this guitar as a lower cost travel guitar that won't require humidifying and worrying. This is an excellent guitar!! The body is all HPL, so no worries about temperature or humidity changes. Despite the all-HPL construction, it sounds warm and fantastic, with a definite Martin tone. The top has scalloped bracing, which helps get that nice tone. It feels extremely sturdy and compact. The mahogany pattern is beautiful, and the bridge and fretboard look just like ebony, even though it's richlite. The onboard fish man pickup and volume/tone controls are discreet and well placed, and I like the battery compartment outside, next to the jack plug. Additionally, this guitar comes with a fantastic and stylish blue/black soft gig bag. Additionally, this guitar comes with a fantastic and stylish blue/black soft gig bag. I have had a Little Martin in the past, and this thing sounds much much better, at only a slightly larger size. This is an excellent guitar and case for the price, I would highly recommend it for anyone who owns a high-end guitar but is afraid to take it out of the house. This one is your perfect "back up" guitar, and plugged in it's a great option for live performances.
This was my second try at purchasing a satisfactory "couch" and travel guitar, and it has worked out perfectly. My first was a parlor model from another company that was a beautifully made all-solid body. I loved the look of it, but I was too concerned about the effects of high and low humidity so I kept it in its case to provide a consistent environment. "Out of sight, out of mind" as they say. I just didn't play it. Plus the neck was very slender compared with my other guitar, so switching between the two was difficult. I ended up selling it.This Martin 0-X1E has the same Performing Artist neck as my other guitar, so transitions are easy (the shorter scale length isn't an issue for me). I don't worry about the all-HPL body, so I hang it on the wall at home for ready access. I have no qualms about taking it to the beach or on camping trips. As a result, I'm playing more. The included soft case is of surprisingly high quality for an instrument in this price range. It's great having a small guitar to take along when the car is loaded with Christmas gifts, camping gear, etc.The playability and intonation up the neck are top-notch. A surprisingly rich bass sound projects from this small-bodied guitar, yet it has a more intimate voice than my other Martin, a Grand Performance model. I especially like it for fingerstyle playing. Martin has improved the appearance of the HPL material used in its most recent generation of X-series guitars for those concerned with the aesthetics.I don't plug in often, but the sound of the 0-X1E is very satisfactory going through a TC Electronics BodyRez pedal and into my Fishman acoustic amp, definitely on a par with more expensive guitars.
I reallllly like this Martin. I have owned several high end Martin 000s in the past and still own a D18 that were and are great all solid made in the USA guitars but this HPL is my new go to guitar. It sounds great, projects well and growles. No more need to worry about taking a 2-3k guitar out of the house to play by the fire or a night out of gigging while still remaining the familiar feel of a Martin. This one is really all I need.
Although a smaller guitar than a dreadnought guitar, the sound is amazing, much richer in terms of a country or country and western vibe. The finish on the guirar, although, without varnish, is supurb. The guitar bag is exceptional, and has velcro straps to hold the neck in place.
Being retired just play for myself family and friends so it's a perfect size and warm tones that I wanted. Thank you Geoff for all your help five stats my friend ! The gig bag is really nice and provides all the protection from the elements and humidity. Very satisfied, would have really liked a Cutaway for the way I play but it's all good when you can't afford what you prefer, but thus time it worked out. I haven't used the Electronics yet due to being out of State for 2 surgery so this is my first day with Martin I just got back to Missoula Mt. Today and opened the box a few minutes ago and I think I'm going to have to put on the lighter strings button took care with the 11s so all is good so far. I have to find an Amp over here.
