I got this one in a trade over the weekend involving my Martin OMCX1E which I bought from here 2 months ago. I had originally wanted the one with the burst finish and the Macassar design when I came back to playing 2 months ago, but you folks did not have it in stock, so when I saw this for sale on Facebooks Marketplace , I contacted the owner and told him what I had . It turns out that he had only bought this one a couple of months before and had only used it once and was more into Black guitars and was willing to do a straight trade, so it worked out for the both of us. Now as far as the guitar is concerned, this is IMO, the best sounding of the X-Series. It has a nice full, bright tone which I absolutely love. This is the guitar that I have always wanted and I am 100% content with this beauty . IMO, this is just as good as a 1,500 dollar MIA Martin , and I have tried out some of them in the past, so I do know what I'm talking about. Martin's Mexico factory has made it possible for those of us who don't have the big bucks for a USA made one, to enjoy a Martin at the fraction of the cost.

This guitar was in tune when it arrived, I highly recommend this to musicians who don't care about buying collectors art. My step-dad has over 30 k in 5 American Martin's. They are amazing, but i can take this work on the grip truck. The action is subperb.. buy this guitar, the help from ams was awesome go Glenn! This is probably best cheap quality acoustic electric for the 700 under market

This guitar is fn fantastic. The tone is incredible. If you hit a chord hard, you can feel it in your bones. The harmonics ring forever. It has huge bass and mid. It sounds heavy muted. The strings are spaced perfectly. I can play faster because of it. I'm talking Jump the Fire at speed. For me this was an expensive guitar, but fork out: its worth it.

I was very impressed with the sound and playability of this guitar. It sounds fantastic, and the neck feels great. This is a working man’s Martin. It’s an affordable guitar made of sustainable, less costly materials. Still, it’s a nice looking guitar, and the quality is superb! It plays and sounds like a Martin; loud and proud with lots of low end. It also comes with a very nice gig bag. It’s really hard to beat the sound, playability and quality of this guitar for the price.

Just Wow

Overall:I am barely into my third year playing guitar. I progressed from a Yamaha FG800 to an Epiphone Masterbilt DR500 MCE. I always wanted a Martin but I can't drop the coin for the D-18 or the D-28 that I really want, so I bought this without seeing or hearing it. I was honestly worried that a guitar with HPL back and sides could hang with an all solid wood guitar. Bad weather and the Pandemic slowed delivery down to four days via Fedex, but it is what it is. The first half hour of playing I was really wondering if I was going to like it. It took a little time to get used to that booming bottom end. But once I did, I learned to modulate it where necessary. And it plays so much smoother than my Epiphone. I am looking forward to playing with a friend who has a ... MoreOverall:I am barely into my third year playing guitar. I progressed from a Yamaha FG800 to an Epiphone Masterbilt DR500 MCE. I am looking forward to playing with a friend who has a D-28 this summer to just compare them. Listen, I know this a made in Mexico Martin. And purists might turn their nose up. But play one and see, if like me, you think this is an amazing guitar at this price point. Heck. Now I don't know why I should keep the Epiphone. Call me a believer. The only thing i would ask Martin to do is add a nice white or black binding on this to protect the top and add a liitle flair. Heading to the Martin Website to get me a sticker for the mancave and a nice Martin ballcap. Love it.

I bought a DX1rae used which is the older equivalent to this Guitar. The rosewood looks great and the solid soundboard sounds and looks even better. The electronics are meh so I put a bags underboard on it. Great guitar for a pro that wants a guitar for traveling and doesn't want to take their D28 or a beginner looking to upgrade.

My Forever Acoustic Guitar
6 August 2021

This is the guitar I'll be rolling with probably for the rest of my life. Love the color in this Natural (mahogany finish) D-X2E, and the rounded-edge, square Martin headstock has always been so pleasing in my eyes. The pick guard and spruce top are just beautiful, too. Since I had an all mahogany Guild D-240E prior, I was curious to see how I felt about the HPL sides and back. It has a nice texture and also feels very durable. Doesn't seem like a noticeable sacrifice in any way, and if it makes the guitar a little more affordable, that's a win-win imo. Most importantly this guitar sounds fantastic, especially with some Martin Monel strings. So stoked to have this one.

Nice entry level Martin
28 February 2022

Great neck and playability. Martin sound and quality with 2 exceptions. First, the frets are rough on the edges. Martin QA should have caught that. The second is the HPL back and sides make the sound a bit bright. Full woods tend to mellow that out, it for the price one cannot go wrong. The guitar, entry level as it is, is heads above the rest on the market.

Nice looking guitar but it wasn't for me.
9 February 2023

I purchased this guitar on line. I compared it to other guitars in its class and chose it. It was tough to purchase the guitar without first playing it. Once I received the guitar I knew immediately it wasn't for me. I thought the sound was too tinny sounding and the D stringseemed to have a slight buzz. On the positive side the customer service guy helping me with the online purchase was excellent. The shipping was super quick. Product was boxed very well. I returned the guitar at the store and was given full credit. I purchased an Epiphone Hummingbird inspired by Gibson. I'm happy It all worked out in the end.

A/B'ed this against a Gibson g45 studio, a walnut g45 studio, a seagull and a faith naked dreadnought. Preferred this and the Gibson. Didn't like the neck (personal preference) on the faith. My friend bought the seagull. I'd have been happy with the Gibson, the seagull or either of the Martins. The Martins were cheaper than the Gibson and I preferred the sound of the mahogany.Just shows that you have to try for yourself. Online guitar shopping doesn't work.
