There is a lot to like about this box: five new scenarios for a game that has skewed heavily toward heroes, two new heroes that are finally branching out from the Avengers trait, and a few modular sets that look like they can really spice up some existing content.Probably still a good buy for anyone who has enjoyed the game and likes deckbuilding and a good challenge, but we are really starting to see some holes in the release model for this LCG and in the game design. There are way too many reprints in the aspect cards, leaving two pre-constructed hero decks that don't really move the player card pool forward in any interesting way, and are woefully inadequate for tackling the challenge that this box provides. There is almost a zero percent chance that a solo player could win the campaign with either Groot or Rocket's preconstructed decks.Players clamoring for increased difficulty in the game definitely got their wish with this expansion, as it represents a significant jump from prior scenarios. Ronan in particular is just absurdly over-tuned at lower player counts, even in Standard mode. Three/four player groups should probably still be able to overcome the challenge, but it will likely take some seriously focused deck building, strong hero/aspect pairings, and a bit of luck to beat the campaign in a solo setting (and expert turns that up to an even crazier level). So if you're an experienced LCG player looking for more of a challenge in Champions, this is the box for you. If you are just getting into the game and like playing with the preconstructed hero decks or taking your favorite hero solo against the villains, I would strongly advise starting at Rise of Red Skull and not diving into this box.

Marvel Champions was already a really fun game, but Rocket and Groot open play up to some really fun options. I've loved playing a Groot Justice deck that truly has no right to work as well as it does. A second campaign gives a massive infusion of villain scenarios and options for you to play through, but sadly lacks in the number of cards that we got for hero decks compared to the last box set. Even the hero decks we got have several reprints of cards instead of new ones. It's the only thing keeping this from being a 5 star product for this game.

The Galaxy’s Most Wanted campaign box offers a handful of innovative new scenarios to battle against using your favorite hero, as well as two great new additions to the hero roster with Rocket and Groot. This campaign is significantly more challenging than the Rise of Red Skull campaign, so I highly recommend that you play through it on Standard the first time. I have always jumped straight into Expert every time I play Marvel Champions, but this campaign forced me to take a step back to Standard. I consider that to be a good thing because it gives an extra level of challenge to the game. While the second and the final scenarios of the campaign are still challenging on Standard, they are more reasonably beatable. As would be expected, Rocket blows everything up, while Groot is great at defending and building up “growth counters” that can lead to big turns. I strongly recommend this campaign to anyone who enjoys the fantastic game of Marvel Champions. If you are completely new to Marvel Champions, I would recommend that you play through the core set villains and learn how to beat them on Expert before taking on this campaign, even on Standard. The core set is required to be able to play this campaign anyway, so you should have a copy of that first. For what it’s worth, I also recommend the Rise of Red Skull campaign as an introduction to the concept of a campaign. It also comes with 5 good scenarios and 2 very fun heroes.

I've only played through the first two scenarios, but I can tell you that this expansion adds several new elements that I really like:* They had me at the theme: I like Guardians, I like Space Opera. The theme is a slam dunk for me.* Adding "victory points" to the campaign (which you can spend on deck upgrades) makes each scenario more engaging, and forces you to choose between spending resources on winning the scenario or pushing for more victory points.* The whole "spaceship battles" element is handled lightly and abstractly, but I like it.* Groot and Rocket are both really fun characters, and the mechanics of their cards fit their theme and personality well.A couple things to keep in mind:* I think the pre-packaged starter decks enclosed with the ... MoreI've only played through the first two scenarios, but I can tell you that this expansion adds several new elements that I really like:* They had me at the theme: I like Guardians, I like Space Opera. They have some great cards, but not in the right proportions. I smashed my head against the first scenario playing with both starters a half-dozen times and lost every time. Then I changed up their aspects and rebuilt their decks, and sailed to victory. So if you're looking for a simple "pull out the starters and win" experience... well, good luck.* These scenarios are pretty challenging. In addition to losing that first scenario 6+ times with the starters, I've lost the second scenario twice with my rebuilt decks. I think this is a feature, not a bug... I find it much more rewarding when the scenarios are tough to beat, especially when I'm diverting some resources towards scoring victory points.Anyways, I think it's great. With the wide variety of campaign upgrades you can buy, I see myself replaying this came more frequently than "Rise of the Red Skull."
This expansion is so much more challenging than the previous Rise of Red Skull. Each scenario felt like it was spiraling out of control from turn one. Each felt like a race to win before being completely destroyed. There are some neat mechanics in here though. The first villain really feels like a huge space battle and earth invasion, so feeling overwhelmed is appropriately thematic. Another has you defeating schemes to progress instead of only dealing damage to the villain. The last two villains are brutal however, and were more challenge than fun.The included heroes, Rocket and Groot, were underwhelming, perhaps because of the difficulty of the expansion itself though.Overall there are some interesting things here, but I would recommend other expansions before ... MoreThis expansion is so much more challenging than the previous Rise of Red Skull. If you really want a challenge or are a completionist then buy it, otherwise invest in other aspects of the game beforehand.
If you are considering buying this expansion, you probably already want to have it. But, just in case you are on the fence, this expansion really is a great addition to the Marvel Champions lexicon simply for the new Rocket and Groot characters. The campaign is overall ok. Like others have said, the scenarios in the campaign are definitely more difficult than others, which makes the campaign hard to get through. But more villains and heroes are always welcome for this great game.
I AM GROOT**(translates to): Really great, fun expansion. Two great heroes and lots of interesting villains. Lots of fun and this is the most "coop" expansion imo, as you have aggressive yet defensive characters like Rocket and groot.
Another great expansion to one of the best designed and richly thematic collectible card games out there. Rocket and Groot offer some fresh fun and strategic variety. The new villains seem a bit more challenging than previous sets, but with such a large selection cards available to build decks from now, this didn’t surprise me. There’s a sizable community of players and deck building resources out there, it’s fun to try new builds and strategies when there are new nasty villains to fight.
The new box has a lot of extra content, new player cards and scenarios, to shake the game up. The scenarios add a lot of variety: they are harder than previous expansions have been, but they also change the gameplay and keep things fresh and interesting. Both Rocket and Groot are nice additions to the mix of heroes, although Rocket will probably need some future releases to supplement his power in any Aspect other than aggression. All in all, a welcoming change to the game.
So you say Marvel Champions is too easy eh?Well, if you want a deeper challenge that will make you bang your head on a hard surface, this is the expansion for you. If you have your friends over, make sure you nail the table to the floor.Galaxy's Most Wanted is the next level of Marvel Champions. I recommended it for those who desire a stronger play experience. Not for Tenderfoots!
