70/30 that I will not be getting another one.

Let me start by saying I do love this smoker I’ve had it for a little over a year now. I am very disappointed in the over all quality. Right out of the box two of the switches did not work properly. The burn door has to have a piece of cardboard between the door and the switch in order for it to engage fully. The switch on the main body where you open and close the door randomly decides when it wants to work and when it doesn’t. For the first 12 months of its life it lived in the garage and was only taken out to use then put back. The level of rust and deterioration on the finish is really bad for that short period of time, especially having lived in a garage, not outside. Like I said I live it. But I’m not sure if I’ll be getting another one.

I found the temp settings to be very accurate when compared against my reference ThermoWorks digital thermometer, easily within 5-10 degrees of the intended temp (some swings are always expected just like an oven). Startup, cooking, and shutdown went without and issues. In short, the unit just works, which is what I want from a grill.

Great Grill & Smoker... I highly recommend!
30 June 2024

So I've been a 600 series owner since April 2024 when it came out (Most other reviews are from the older discontinued 560 model that use to be here). This grill has been fantastic so far. It literally can smoke as low as 150F and sear as high as 700F and it can ramp up temperature very fast. It's built well and the size is good. My first time using it I put a brisket on about 225F and went to bed. 12 hours later it was still holding the temperature without an issue. Generally it's anywhere from spot on to maybe 3 degrees up, it holds steady very very well. This grill produces some very flavorful food. It's very easy to use. The upgraded magnetic sensors, porcelain coated top rack and porcelain coated heat manifold are great. I chose the 600 over the 800 for the upgrades and longer cook time (larger feed bin).I have had one issue, I have not been able to get this thing connected to the Internet yet which I was ready to give a bad review for but honestly, this thing has been so fantastic in every other aspect it actually deserves the five stars. Easy to light, built well, great smoke flavor, great grilling.... You get my point. If your thinking of buying one I highly recommend. I'm happy I found this prior to going and buying a pellet grill.

I have been grilling for 55 years. I have 2 other charcoal grills and 1 gas grill (I use only the charcoal grills). I assembled the grill myself. It needed 2 spacers and one nut insert was missing BUT it came with extra fasteners (thanks). The quality of the grill is relay good. The Master Built works great for what it is, its a charcoal fired convection oven. Im still learning how to use it properly. It maintains the set temperature very well. when you turn up the heat it rises VERY fast. I can raise the grill temp by 300 degrees in less than 5 minutes There is no direct charcoal heat. Its hot air blown into the grill, granted up to 700 degrees hot. Ive had it up to 550 degrees. Make sure your charcoal is dry. If its damp at all you will get a LOT of soot on the food.Make sure you have a cover for the grill. if it is left out in the rain the rain gets into the charcoal bin (yes the top gasket is air tight) and into the double wall of the lid. When you open the lid after a rain it dumps dirty water into the grilling area. I have to re bind the grill to my blue tooth and WIFI every time I fire up the grill. Several times it would not connect at all. Several times I've had the charcoal jam in the bin (both with briquettes and with lump charcoal). I would think that making the bin slightly tapered to be wider at the bottom than the top would go a long way to preventing charcoal jams.It is certainly better than a gas grill.I think it needs a little more design work. (charcoal jamming and rain proofing)Would I recommend it? As long as they know its a convection charcoal grill yes.

[Rewarded Review] Awesome smoker/grill!
23 August 2024

I bought my Masterbuilt gravity smoker used. It needed a new control panel and electrical adapter. I purchased both, cleaned my smoker up and it’s awesome! I have grilled steaks, smoked a pork loin which made some awesome pulled pork and smoked my first meatloaf! So, so easy to control the temperature, and from my iPhone! This is the best purchase I’ve ever made. When my current smoker is done, I will definitely buy another one. Also, I’m selling my BGE. It was a great smoker/grill, but I don’t have to babysit my Masterbuilt! I love it!

[Rewarded Review] Best Grill I've EVER Owned! And I've had plenty!
3 September 2024

I've been grilling and smoking longer than many have been alive and the Masterbuilt Gravity is by far the best. My new condo has limited space on the balcony so having a grill and a smoker wasn't happening. I tried the big name pellet grill/smoker (rhymes with Traeger). Smokes well but you can't sear and the startup/cooldown takes forever. The Masterbuilt holds temp for smoking perfectly, uses real charcoal (which I forgot how much I love) and you can crank it and get a legit sear! Starts up really fast and shutting down is a breeze. Seriously I've owned every grill and smoker you can think of but this by far is the best, most versatile product of them all. Many thanks for a most excellent product!

This is my first Masterbuilt smoker, my second lump coal smoker and my third smoker over all. This is by far my favorite one of all three. Using lump or charcoal is so much better than pellets and their dust that clogs up the auger of those types of smokers, and if you have to add more charcoal it's a breeze with the vertical smoker unlike my Akorn. Setting the temperature and controlling the temperature is is simple and straight forward and the smoker adjust the temperature so fast. The Bluetooth connection to your phone and the app through the app store works great and allows you to monitor and control and change settings for the smoker from inside the house. My gripes are that you do need 2 people to assemble or it's going to be more difficult than it should be ... MoreThis is my first Masterbuilt smoker, my second lump coal smoker and my third smoker over all. Just take your time. It also should come griddle and with a front shelf like the larger ones and not be an add-on you can purchase from their website later.Even so I still love it and love using it.

Been using it for years. Gets the job done. Only smoker I've had, and I like that it uses charcoal.Pros: easy to start (if using a fire starter). Plenty of room for my needs. Set it and forget it for smoking.Cons: difficult to clean smoking chamber, prone to grease fires even if you clean after each use, grease fires almost impossible to extinguish once started, hard to clean soot build up in the hopper area. Electric cord hook up has worn down with normal use. Electronic panel has worn down and not responsive to some commands now and I hardly used it. All commands can still be done through the app but the app has its own problems. The app does not load/connect well at times.Knowing what I know now, I might try a different smoker or look into an upgraded series that is more durable.

I purchased a 560 Gravity Smoker a few weeks ago. Wow! What a great grill! I keep vacillating between a regular charcoal smoker and a pellet grill. I almost bought a pellet grill but in all the reviews I read the comments were they worked OK but for a really good smoke flavor you really need charcoal. I was walking past a Masterbuilt gravity and stopped. Hey, this works kinda like a pellet grill, but it uses charcoal. That night I read up on it and watched a bunch of the YouTube videos, went back the next day and purchased the grill. I'm really glad I did! It took a little while but all the screw holes and tapped threads aligned up properly and went together without a hitch. Before you do your burn-in, set up the app and configure the wifi, then proceed.
