I only had this delivered a week ago, so impressions are early. Overall, a nice smoker with a few issues.1. I had issues getting a couple pieces attached. One of the legs... and can't remember what the other piece was. Either way, I wasn't too concerned as there were 4+ screws for each piece, so figured losing 1 would be OK. Still a huge pain that the screws easily come apart at the head when the screw gets stuck (I was using a proper sized driver), so keep in mind that holes don't always line up nicely - even when they appear to visually. Seems to be par for the course that cheap screws ship with these types of things.2. The fire box does not easily pull out of the smoker - and it will have to be fully taken out, rested somewhere safe, and reloaded/replaced. ... MoreI only had this delivered a week ago, so impressions are early. Get good quality gloves and be very careful. If this could have pulled out on a tray or had a support of some kind, it would have been much better. No idea about longevity etc., but otherwise seems decent. Very large cooking surface, despite the 40" measurement including the large firebox. Honestly I don't know what backyard BBQ cook would think it too small.

We purchased this smoker in November for a Christmas present. It is 1yr 8 month old but really less since it wasn’t used the 1st couple months. 1 of the door hinges broke off completely so someone has to hold the door open or take the door completely off when wrapping the smoked meat which defeats the purpose of using a smoker to keep the heat at the right temperature. I know it is out of warranty but that is poor construction. A hinge should last longer than that. We have reinforced the good hinge but with having to hold the door who knows how long the “good” hinge will last. I was told we needed to purchase a whole body kit to fix the issue which for the smoker we have is about $140. I feel that it may be better to purchase a better quality smoker. I was so excited to make this purchase because of the exceptional price I got at Lowes. I followed the instructions to the letter and seasoned the smoker on a test run. The digital display came up and I received the bluetooth signal to my phone. I loaded the Masterbuilt app and it worked for about 20 minutes and then the display on the digital controller went dark. I unplugged the smoker and plugged it up again but nothing works. So the first time I smoke a turkey and the next time a brisket I had to do so by manually monitoring the heat with a grill thermometer I had. I was initially thrilled and intrigued by the fact that I thought I had a digital controller and that in theory I could go sit down or prep my other foods and not worry about running back and forth to ... MoreI was so excited to make this purchase because of the exceptional price I got at Lowes. I can't seem to find any replacement parts on the web. Fortunately I am happy with the smoker as a smoker (meat comes out great). I am however disappointed in the cheap electoronics and failure out of the box. I would dearly love for the opportunity to use the fan to regulate the temperature but it won't come on since I can't use the controller. I will likely keep it but I will have to add my own fan with a potentiometer or rotary switch to regulate fan speed/volume and install a permanent external thermometer I can glance.

I purchased this smoker about 18 months ago and it worked well for 11 months with about once a month use. While smoking a prime rib the meat was done much earlier than expected making me hold it at temperature for two hours before the rest of dinner was ready. While a little overdone it was still good. The next time I used it was for tri-tip, ribs, and pork butts. Again food was cooking faster than expected when I figured out the smoke box temp was 350 while set at 225. The ribs were a total loss, but the other food was saved. I reported the issue to Masterbuilt one year and 8 days after original purchase, but they honored the warranty (why the 3 stars). If the thermocouple dies again I will either have to trash the whole unit or modify it with a $10 replacement available.
I bought this a day ago. There are some things I like about it and there are some things i dislike about it.Pros:bluetooth connectivity seems to work fine, I'm able to easily control the smoker from the app.The fan speed does adjust based of your set temperature to maintain the temperature.Having the option to have multiple thermometers going, all connected to the smoker and viewable on the app is really nice.It just looks awesome and the latches and doors are just satisfying to work.Cons:Single wall so smoking in colder temperatures will be difficult. I tried seasoning it in 26 degree weather and it couldn't get to 400 using lump charcoal. The charcoal box warped just trying to season it. Now it won't sit in the tray correctlyThere was no gasket on ... MoreI bought this a day ago. Now it won't sit in the tray correctlyThere was no gasket on the upper door. I had to buy a gasket to put around it.Nothing seems to line up. The bottom door doesn't sit even with the top.My final conclusion is this is s great smoker for someone who wants all the bluetooth connectivity and ease of use features, and is willing to spend a little more money to make it a reliable smoker. This is not for someone looking for a "plug and play" smoker
Bought my smoker at the end of October 2021, hinges failed Christmas day 2021. The material quality is such that I can't imagine how this smoker lasts more than a season for anyone. Mine barely lasted 2 months. I'm a novice but learned quickly during my many smokes over a short period. The facts after assembly, roughly 20 smoke sessions & box failure:1. Box isn't square2. Doors misaligned (see no.1)3. Doors wont seal (see no.2)4. Charcoal basket and ash tray will deform (mine after one smoke) making the already difficult loading and unloading process even tougher5. Some plastic components raise concerns of longevity.6. Glass is a gimmick, just adds more labor during cleaning7. Did get to and hold temp during burns/ but do to thin box material temps quickly ... MoreBought my smoker at the end of October 2021, hinges failed Christmas day 2021. Never had an issue with Bluetooth connectivity or controlAnd because of 7. and 8.......I attempted to get my delayed body replacement shipment canceled (which is still not here after almost a month with still no shipment confirmation) and get a credit towards the purchase of their Masterbuilt Gravity Series 850 or 1050 which appear to not have the same flimsy prone to failure body, Customer service told me they couldn't help me in this regard, and I would have to take it back to Lowe's for a refund....... well, there you have it.
This smoker was purchased for my as an early Christmas Gift in November of 2021. I have used it approximately 12 times. I enjoy the quality of smoked meat that I get. What i dont enjoy is the problems I have encountered. The Charcoal basket warped pretty early on and has continued to warp to the point where it does not really fit that well into the fire box anymore. One of the runners for the ash container has fallen off. I am not running super high temps as most of what I have smoked is smoked around 225 degrees to 250 degrees. The paint inside the smoker is also flaking and bubbling and falling off. The smoker is not left outside and is cleaned and covered after each smoke. I also did run into temperature over run issues as other people had describe but I had ... MoreThis smoker was purchased for my as an early Christmas Gift in November of 2021. Very unhappy with the product. I have received no assistance. Two stars only because I still enjoy smoking.
The item was given to me on December 25th 2021 for Christmas. I did enjoy the smoker throughout the year with minor issues that I easily overlooked. On December 27th 2022, the internal thermostat (Which plugs into the panel and is mounted with 1 screw) failed. Other smoker series have this thermostat for $8, however, they do not sell mine individually (Per Masterbuilt Service) and I would need the entire box unit ($150). Also, since this was just past the 1 year warranty (By Days), I am responsible for the $150 charge for a new Box (thermostat). It wouldn't be nearly as bad if they sold just the thermostat for $8 that is mounted with 1 screw. If I am investing that much more money in a used smoker, then I will purchase a different brand. Got this as a Christmas gift in 2020. When it works it was great, but started to see error 4 even though the charcoal is glowing after about 18 months, 6 months past warranty for customers in the USA. Was able to limp along for a little bit, normally power cycling got it working again. But now setting the temperature doesn't seem to do anything. Latest cook, set it to 225 and the alert that the set temp was reached actually happened at 300. Display on the smoker showed 300 so idk what the problem was. Shame on me for not keeping a close enough eye on it. A new controller is $60, I'll try that and hopefully get another year out of this thing.
I would give this zero stars if possible. I do not like giving bad reviews but in this case I have to try to save people their money... This smoke will not control temperature at all. All probes come up with different temperatures and the control unit is junk. it does not work with the app at all. I found that it will "control temperature" to a set value if not using the app, but the probe is not accurate so when it says 225, it really means about 257. I verified this with 4 other temperature probes simultaneously. I emailed constomer service which gave me a list of potential problems. When I responded that they do not fix my issue, i never heard back from them. I emailed them every week for a month or two and never got a response. I cannot express my frustration ... MoreI would give this zero stars if possible. I do not like giving bad reviews but in this case I have to try to save people their money...
