I bought this solely going on the JL reviews but wished I'd checked on other websites. I use this daily and I regularly have dismantle it mid way of using to see why it is jamming up and only a trickle of juice sadly emptying into the container. The macerator gets jammed with whole pieces and I have to prise it out to get it going again. Fruit and veggie pulp come out wet so the macerator obviously doesn't work well. What should take less than 10 mins takes closer to 45 minutes now. Initially it performed slightly better but only slightly. I think it is mainly a design fault. It's also quite loud but if it took less time I wouldn't mind the noise so much. I gave this two stars because at least it's easy to clean. I will be sending this back!

This juicer may not give the highest yield amongst the plethora of masticating juicers available on the market but it does rank as probably the simplest to use and clean. We have used several brands & models of high-speed shredding juicers as well as several slower masticating juicers. With all of the others, they might be quick, easy or give a great yield but the thing they all have in common is the mammoth task of dismantling and cleaning involved with some taking 20 minutes or more to give a thorough clean. With our Philips HR1889, a full and thorough clean is done in under five minutes so it encourages you to juice more often. If you want to squeeeze a tiny bit more juice out of your produce, simply put the pulp back in for another go. Apples and ginger come out ... Apples and ginger come out pretty dry as do leafy vegetables and the only one we have noticed might benefit from a second pass through the juicer is cucumber, but we haven't bothered because it's not too bad with one pass. I would definitely recommend this for anyone pushed for time as it's by far the easiest and most time-efficient model we have come across so far.

+ Overall it is a good juicer. I think it looks good and it also fits easily anywhere in the kitchen. It is very quiet. I like that it has a reverse feature so you can run the juicer backwards too. It juices nicely and so far all the fruit and vegetables have gone through without any jamming of the juicer. Even almonds and cashew nuts have been processed through no problem, I like to make almond milk so that is a plus for a juicer. It's also extremely easy to take apart and you have access to clean every single (four) part to keep them clean which is important to me. I like that you get your fresh juice and grated veggies all in one in no time at all.-I have to criticize Philips for the advertising of the tube being "XL" that you can just throw fruit in. It's not like that, you can fit a small apple in the feeding tube but not bigger ones. Green apples I have would not fit in there even cut in half. To me it's not an issue at all, but if you are looking for a juicer that has that feature it's good for you to know. Also the feeding tube lid doesn't open all the way, it stays tilted for safety reasons I assume but that annoys me, maybe I will just rip it off completely. This is a fine juicer for 1-2 people, maybe a small family but definitely smaller in size I was looking to see based on advertising. Sometimes you have to use a bit of force and push the fruit with the feeder, especially if you have loaded the tube with fruit but overall it usually goes without even having to push them at all. All features I am ok to dealing with. I have never had a juicer before so I have no comparison but for what I was expecting this juicer does leave the pulp a bit moist. Again to me not an issue because I like to use the pulp in salads and bakings and sometimes I run the pulp through again. I guess if you want a XL juicer with dry pulp you gotta be ready to pay more. I got this juicer for 149€, I think it's a decent price. Would I be satisfied to pay the full 190-220€, hmm. I'm undecided about that.Overall l have enjoyed my fresh juices so l'm happy for the purchase :)

I received my juicer this morning...I juiced a beetroot, celery, apple,a small amount of broccoli and ginger, which turned out amazingly good.10 years ago I purchased a Greenstar 2000 juicer which at the time was £599 which produces incredible juice! But I have to say it does have it's drawbacks namely the sheer length of time it takes to strip and clean etc (what a faff!!) never used now. This Philips if it lasts which I am sure it will it well worth it, Easy to strip and clean no scrubbing here just run under a running tap is good. Nice small footprint for a small worktop also. It's a good looking machine also. I was lucky to buy it in a sale!I would definately recommend this juicer!
So far, I'm happy with this purchase. It squeezes more juice than the centrifugal type. I extracted juice from Carrots, Ginger and Grapes. the extraction from the carrots is somewhat 80-85%. The carrot pulp didn't come out fully dry, but I made an excellent carrot cake from it :-). With the ginger it's about 90%, but for the grapes, it was100%. When I disassembled the machine to wash it, I recovered a good amount of delicious grape puree with flakes of the seeds. I read once that grape seeds have many health benefits, so I found indulging the flakes without the usual annoying way of eating grapes with seeds, as a bonus :-). Unfortunately, I used it only 3 times, thus I might not be the best judge.
As a family of four I felt we needed to increase our fruit and vegetable intake and this has been a fantastic way to do it. This juicer was really easy to put together and produces some great tasting juices, I've loved experimenting with different flavours. Although it does take whole fruit, I find it easier to chop apples etc into quarters as I did once get a small, whole apple a bit wedged in the tube which was quite tricky to get back out! It has no problem with juicing whole carrots and big chunks of pineapple etc. The size of the juicer is perfect, fits nicely in the kitchen without being in the way. It is really quiet which I hadn't expected and it's really fast too. We have used this most mornings which is exactly what I had hoped. As a 'non dishwasher' ... It is really quiet which I hadn't expected and it's really fast too. We have used this most mornings which is exactly what I had hoped. As a 'non dishwasher' household I was concerned that it'd take ages and be hard to clean but it takes no time at all. This is a massive plus as it's definitely increased our use of it. I would advise cleaning immediately after use as if left for the fruit to dry onto it I imagine it would be a pain to get clean. The only problem I have found is the postition on the on/off switch. Whilst feeding juicy fruits like pineapple into the tube I've found it can drip onto the switch which can make it a bit sticky. I also found the water from where I'd rinsed kale before juicing dripped too so I tend to now lay a tea towel over the button to be safe. It would be better positioned on the side to avoid this. Overall I am really pleased with this juicer and would definitely recommend it.
I absolutely love this product. I am often in a rush in the mornings but still want to have a healthy and well balanced breakfast; and this is where this juicer comes in!The first thing about this product is that it was extremely straight forward to set up; and it even came with a little recipe book to get you started. It is a rather large product; but it makes up for this by how quiet it is! I live in a shared house, so having a quiet machine to use in the mornings was so important to me.You simply pop the fruit in, press the on button and let it work its magic. It will automatically juice itself so that you can be getting on with other jobs around the kitchen! There is a 'reverse' juicing option; so if any pieces of fruit or veg get stuck then it will move them along. It also comes with a handy pot in which all the dry material which cannot be juiced will empty into. The XL feeding tube is of a great advantage as there is no need to cut up or prepare your fruit before hand; it could fit large apples and oranges straight in!The juicer also comes apart with a bit of elbow grease :-) It is therefore extremely easy to clean all components after use. I would highly recommend this juicer to anyone looking for a kick start to their healthy lifestyle.
As a person who likes to eat and drink fresh, and know exactly what ingredients I'm having, this juicer is ideal. It's so easy to use and put together. The parts all come apart, making it easy to clean. The first juice I tried was apples, which didn't go quite as easily as the demo video! My apples were too large so I had to cut them, and upon juicing the apple wasn't juicing, so I had to turn it off and un jam it.It's a brilliant idea to get fruit and vegetables into your diet, for adults and kids.Kids especially loved it as they got to make their own drinks and it was fun doing it.I downloaded the Philips juice app, which is really good, and has some great recipes for detox, morning boost to hangover cures!I would definitely recommend this product, and ... I have two children and a husband l, all of which are fussy with fruit and veg. I got this juicer as a way to get more fruit and veg into them all with minimal fuss and less mess/faffing around. The product is fairly large, heavy and cumbersome, but the over all design means it is fairly narrow, and can be kept out or put in a cupboard (even in our tiny kitchen). The instructions are fairly easy to follow, and are also printed on the box flap as well as a large fold out page. It's very easy to assemble and disassemble to clean/store, I would recommend buying a babies bottle brush (v.cheap) just to make it easier to get into tho tube and little grater part. There was a small recipe book as well as information on a free app, which is great for tips and ideas tailored to your product specs. We managed to extract more juice than expected, with a quite smooth texture (use of a fine sieve makes it completely smooth), the container to catch the juice is large and which can be quite deceiving as to how much juice has been extracted. We use this daily, and will continue to do so, a great, easy, fast way to 5 a day.
Being my first juicer i was not sure what to expect at all.... unpacking and setting up was a breeze, parts effortlessly fit together and i was up and running within 10 minutes. My first juice was amazing and so tasty - there is certainly something satisfying about making your own juice and knowing there is no extra rubbish being added to it.I did not find this machine to be too noisy and was simple to operate: There are only three buttons to master: two on the top - a power button and a reverse motion button and a release button on the front to remove everything you need to clean. The parts are easily removed from the base and a quick rinse under a warm tap and wipe with a cloth was all that was needed to clean the parts (They can even go in the dishwasher!).My only criticism would be the size of the waste collector, i wish this was a little bit bigger so that i didn't have to empty it multiple times when creating a 1 litre juice - but this could be down to the mixture of what fruit and veg i am using.Overall this is a great juicer and i am very pleased with it. I am now actively creating multiple juices every week to help increase my intake of Vitamins & Minerals.
