Love Maui Jims and love the 'Akau rimless sunglasses. They are extremely light weight and not tight on my head. Side note, I do have a small face. Love the blue lenses. The blue lenses work equally as well as the grey ones and go well with my salt & pepper hair. I am prone to headaches and these are light enough where I won't get a headache for the frames. I do play tennis and golf but haven't tried them on the golf course or tennis courts yet. Planning on purchases a second pair, just trying to decide which lense color to pick out.

Fits great. Earpieces slide right under a hat and they don't move. Unfortunately folding them up and putting in a case loosens nuts and eventually they'll break off the entire post or screw flies off never to be found. I just want a pack of nuts for when this happens. I keep them tight by using good tweezers, but I lost another nut. This has only happened 5 times. Thinking about loc tite to hold them permanently. Still love them. Had them 4 years now.

I've loved Maui Jim's ever since I moved to Arizona. The desert glare can be terrible on the eyes. I needed good eye protection because bright sun light triggers my migraine headaches. My purchase of the Akau Rimless Polarized Sunglasses were perfect! I was hoping for a little bit more side shielding...so...maybe my next pair of Maui Jim's will have that...I just have to figure out the type. However, the set that received caught the eyes of friends, who ultimately purchased a pair. I now own three pairs of Maui Jim's. These have got to be the best sunglasses ever!

There's thoughtful, excellent technology here from the lens to the case of these "nearly not there" glasses They feel delicate, but that's confusing the design and weight with the quality of construction. They're built to last though require two hands to put on, and they're not glasses to yank off when chasing a fly ball, for example. Good coverage and of course the lenses you expect. I particularly bought AKAU because they don't nudge up against the brim of my hat. Just the right size - not overly big on a med to large head. Use for walking/hiking and driving and even an old guy like me looks pretty good in the green mirror coating, a chance I took and which worked out.
I really enjoy these glasses. This is my favorite MJ lens. Blocks the glare but does not make it dark. Can easily be worn when cloudy or even indoors. The frame took some getting used to as it is very flexible. Hard to put them on your head with just one hand.
I’ve had these for over ten years and they are fabulous. They have been indestructible. I have accidentally put my motorcycle helmet on over them and thankfully they have never broken. They do a great job of keeping the wind out of my eyes as well as the sun on the motorcycle. I left them at a friends house last week and have been borrowing sunglasses from my husband this week. I can’t wait to get them back!! Years ago I lost one of the nose pads and was sent free ones. Highly recommend!!!
Very nice and very light pair of sunglasses. Like the green tint on the lenses. Wish they were greener. As one of the other reviews mentioned, the lenses are on the smaller side letting light in through the sides — at least that’s how it fits my face. They also sit pretty far from my face. I don’t like that you cannot adjust the nose bridges since the material is plastic. Also, because it is so light, it feels rather flimsy, but I expect the material to hold well for the price of the pair and the technology Maui Jim’s state they have.
I've been buying, wearing and recommending MauiJim sunglasses for nearly 3 decades. I wore Typhoons for many years but had to change styles after the Typhoons were discontinued. I now have 2 pairs of MJ sunglasses. e.g. Stingray and Surf Rider. A typical pair lasts me about 5 years on average. My most recent purchase are the Surf Riders. The Typhoon's lenses were glass. So too are the Stingrays. The Stingray and Surf Riders' lenses are uniformly tinted from top to bottom, unlike the Typhoons which had 3 zones of tint from top to bottom. They were ideal for fishing. The middle portion of the lens was a slightly lighter tint compared to the top and bottom. Direct sunlight from above as well as sunlight reflected up from the water were attenuated by the darker tint ... MoreI've been buying, wearing and recommending MauiJim sunglasses for nearly 3 decades. They are nice looking but feel cheap due to the lens rattling in the frame. There was a time when one could specify, by checking a box, plastic or glass for the lens material. That checkbox went missing a few years ago.I've been pretty good at remembering to add a note to each order I've placed, asking for glass lenses. I forgot this when I ordered the Surf Riders. If the default lens material were glass, I'd give 5 stars without hesitation. If the lenses which were used on the Typhoon models could be duplicated on some of the most recent models, I would give 10 stars and order a pair today.
This is my second pair of these glasses. I love them. One of my favorite things is that they are very light and you can wear them for hours and not even know they're on your face. The frame is a good size, not too big not too small. Gets great range for some protection. And, overall this is a quality product with a great manufacturers warranty.
These lenses are beautiful. The glasses are so light you barely know they're on your face. The base curve of 6 fits my face better than the 8 wrap style. The 8's make my eyelashes make contact with the lenses and I can see the ear bridge mounts in my peripheral vision whereas the base curve of 6, there are no distractions or discomfort. I'm glad I went with these since they fir my face nearly perfectly. Honestly, I have no complaints.
