Great product. Works great and stands up to the harshest environments.

The diameter varies widely from what the labels says. It has to be "miked" to determine the diameter but it makes good dry fly leader material for trout lines 4 to 6 wt. I like fluorocarbon, including the butt, or Amnesia for nymphs, steelhead and streamers but for surface applications Maxima Clear is the best. It straightens out the easiest and is stiff enough to work for indicator dry and nymph or two dry fly combinations. I use the nested uniknot for connections because I can drop as many as 4 thousandths in one knot. A blood knot can only drop two or three.

I use braid to leader on a lot of my rods. This line is very abrasion resistant and provides me with the strength and stretch I’m looking for in mono. This small spools are nice so I don’t have 300 yrds in my boat when I don’t need it
I rarely leave a review because, well, it is just one more distraction from my daily to-do list. But these guys are really worth it. I was very pleased to find MFRC when I was looking for some unpopular supplies. They had exactly what I needed, at a great price and I loved the free shipping. By far the best deal I could find. Even better, it was shipped the same day and I got it fast. I really couldn't ask for more and I will certainly use them again.

I use this for making my own fly fishing leaders and have for over 35 years - material is stiff and perfect for turning over large streamers in fresh and salt water. The best I have ever used! - just add a piece of floro as a tippet and your good to go. - Tight lines to all!
I purchased this leader material to build tapered leaders for flyfishing warm water species, bass, bluegill etc. Ultragreen ties nice solid blood knots and is stiff enough that flies turn over with a nice straight leader presentation. This my preference when fishing around cover on lakes. It is a very good monofilament line.
Ive been using Maxima for years. Even making heavy mono leaders for spin fishing. But for fly fishing with streamer and surface flies it’s hard to beat.
I don't know about it being better than I expected as I've know maxima mono for about 30 years wherein has been popular with the carp anglers. I only fly fish rivers for wild trout now and it makes good leaders for Czech or French nymping. Thank you - Andy Davies.

Maxima Ultra Green is more supple, and is softer than either Chameleon or Clear. It is nearly invisible in most glacial river and lake water. It has good knot strength and is very popular for fishing nymphs or dry flies for trout.Maxima Ultra Green is popular with steelhead/salmon anglers throughout the range of all the speciesImportantly, Maxima Green in #30 bends about the same as a Scandi line tip. So the energy of the cast is transmitted smoothly from the line through a hand tied leader to the fly. Maxima and KnotsAll three types of Maxima Leader Materials have the ability to hold good knots. That is because Maxima has the ability to stay round in cross-section after being tied. The less a leader material deflects when tied in a knot, the more likely it is to stay strong. With Maxima, it is imperative that you wet the knots you are tying before you tighten them. Maxima ties very good blood knots when building tapered leaders if each knot is wetted with saliva.
