Medela Freestyle Flex Double Electric Breast Pump

The freestyle flex aims to help moms have the flexibility to pump anywhere, anytime, for 11% more milk. The pump can be shaped to fit all moms' natural breast shapes, and is compact, lightweight, quiet and usb-rechargeable so moms can express anywhere, anytime. And as a double pump, freestyle flex halves the time required to express compared to a single pump. It's also connected to the mymedela app, enabling moms to track every pumping session, access expert tips and be part of a community of over 12,000 moms. Double pumping with freestyle flex yields more milk in less time than pumping from each breast in turn. 2-phase expression technology mimics babies' natural sucking rhythm - faster at first to stimulate milk flow, then slower to feed for more comfortable and efficient pumping. Personalfit flex breast shields can be adapted to fit your shape for individual comfort and increased milk flow. Overflow protection (a closed system) prevents your breast milk from entering the tubing and motor. What's included. 1 x freestyle flex double electric breast pump. 2 x medela personalfit flex breast shield size 21 mm. 2 x medela personalfit flex breast shield size 24 mm. 2 x medela personalfit flex connector. 1 x tubing. 4 x 150 ml breast milk bottle. 4 x lid. 2 x bottle stand. 1 x power adaptor with usb cable. 1 x carry bag. 1 x cooler with cooler element.

This is my main pump I use. I love that it's portable and you are not stuck to a wall. I love that the battery lasts a long time. I love that it comes with a bag, extra set of pump parts, and a cooler for the bag to travel with cold milk. My first pump ended up having suction issues (wouldnt release) but their customer service had me a new pump in now time flat with no issues. The only other complaint I have is that the one set of pumps with the - yellow tab part and white membrane that connect to the bottom of the connectors - this set seems to get "clogged" more often then it should. Milk gets suck and ends up getting in the tubes. Even after cleaning and sterilizing properly - it continues to happen here and there. I wish the new portable version they just came out with was available before this time, i would have gotten those for sure. I also wish they sold just that part seperate because I would definitely use that over these pump connectors.

The medela pump is a really good and powerful pump, its easy to clean, although when you get it at first you feel overwhelmed by all the different components but once you get the hang of it, it becomes quite nippy.. I did find that it used to leak when I bent over which caused quite a few tears over spilled milk in the start. Obviously you need to get the bra with it. It comes with 2 size nipple suctions and a bag which I still use on my pram. I didnt end up using it for long. It definitely a product that you need to be dedicated to using. As I wasn’t doing it properly I had to substitute with formula milk so my milk supply reduced. I also had exams to complete at giving birth so I didnt have the time to pump every 2 hours and clean and let everything dry and also look after a newborn. This is a product you need to be dedicated to. Maybe if you are on maternity leave and a stay at home mum it will work for you however it is much easier to try and use that time and dedication that you would have spent washing the machine and bottles etc trying to teach your baby to latch, maybe even buying a medela nipple shield will work just as well.Just my personal thoughts, I ended up exclusively bottle feeding. I stopped pumping it was too much effort. Your breasts become engorged so you have no choice but to pump to release your breasts from the milk but the OG pump aka the baby would be a much better option. I feel that if i didnt have to pump to rely on I would have made more effort to breastfeed but I didnt know any better.

Great pump for moving around
21 October 2021

I bought this a couple of weeks ago to use when I went on holiday as I wanted something light to take on the plane. Before this I was using the symphony. The symphony is definitely a superior pump but then it is hospital grade and costs around £2k so to be honest I wasn't expecting this one to be anywhere near as good! I was actually pleasantly surprised it is a very efficient pump! It takes me around twice as long with this one compared to the symphony to get the same amount but the pump is so versatile I can use it anywhere without being tied to a plug socket which is really handy! It would be great if it came with a clip or lanyard so you can "wear" it rather than having to carry it but dressing gown pockets are also great for that. Definitely use with the handsfree bra for greater flexibility. The pump itself is light, easy to use and still pretty quiet. I love that it has the initiation phase and then the pumping phase both of which you can choose which level to have it at. Also great set of kit that comes with it including the nipple shields in two different sizes and the Cool bag. Overall a great pump for moving around and traveling with.

Not a great upgrade… Disappointed.
8 August 2022

I am a third time mom who works full time and has nursed/breast milk fed my babies for 15 months the past two times. I used the Medela Freestyle pump for my last two babies and was excited about the Freestyle Flex pump until I actually started to use it. The biggest bummers about the upgrade/change in style is that the pump itself doesn’t have a clip for my pant waist, only a string. This means the pump has to hang off my arm as k go around the house, putting away laundry, unloading the dishwasher, and wrangling my three kids. In the process, the unfortunately very sensitive touchscreen gets tapped by my hip and paused over and over again. It’s really inconvenient and annoying. I have several sets so I don’t think it’s one bad set. The one thing I do like about the upgrade is the cup/flange have a softer rubber/ edge than the previous style. Additionally, the battery does not last nearly as long as the previous Freestyle version. Over all, as a third time breastfeeding/pumping mom, I’m not impressed and miss my old reliable pump that allowed me to not only successfully nurse my babies for up to 15 months, but to also donate hundreds of ounces of breast milk each pregnancy.

Pump broken after 3 weeks
30 October 2022

I order the compleet set. I said that i need to invest in a good pump. After 3 weeks the pump stoped working, first would randomly turn off when unpluged. Then i would plug it and would work just for 3 minutes. After i spoke with the customer service told me to reset it and i did so ,but after the resetting it stoped working at all. Like not turning on at all. I sent the pump back and i had to buy another pump so i can feed.my baby. I find it so annoying that instead of sending a replacement fast you need to wait so long especially when is something very important regarding your health and the baby's health. Agreed with the customer servicr that they will try to send me the money back instead of a new pump but they dont know how long will take neither or if it is posible because the pump is used and is not hygienic to return it. Curious how this will end. In the meanwhile i had no choice but buy another pump that is cheaper.

Terrible. Just terrible.
24 April 2023

This pump is just nothing but terrible. Gave me more clogged ducts than breastmilk! The suction is a joke, even when you set it on the highest setting it still barely gets milk out. I bought this so I can double pump but it can’t even be used normally as a double pump bc one side just doesn’t do the job, it barely extracts any milk. It’s ok if you use it as a single pump, which defeats the purpose of getting a double pump! It’s bc of this pump that my breastfeeding journey was cut short bc I keep getting clogged ducts as I never really empty my breast using this pump. I hv to manually express it even after 30 mins of pumping. Just terrible Medela, terrible.

The suction doesn’t work on both sides!
11 February 2023

I had medela freestyle before and was happy with the product. Got the freestyle flex two weeks ago from Best Buy as it was told to be lighter and stronger than it’s previous version. The product is broken. After turning on the pump, the suction on one side drops to nothing after a second. It is basically useless. I tried this on battery and while connected to power. It’s really frustrating when you have few minutes in between your work to pump and then having a very poor quality product which is not doing what it’s supposed to do!!! Very disappointed after spending $500 on something that is useless.

I've been using this product for 4 months now. The pump itself as a machine works well no complaints but I'll tell you that as an exclusive pumper this machine did not make my life easier and made pumping a drag. You'll need a specific flange for your size. Medela only makes 3 sizes and most women do not fit these. So if you're like me you'll need to buy off market. I had to purchase 2 to get the right fit for me.I got the Medela bra to be hands free and the pump and bottles hang off your breasts. I found this to be heavy and dragging my breasts down. Even worse when you're moving around because pulling is happening. You can barely do anything when wearing the pumps, especially the most important thing carry or pick up your baby. The pump and wires will be in the way if you're trying to pick up or carry your baby. If you don't have help at home and are pumping you'll have to take off your pump to pick up your baby unless you're just placing them away from your body elsewhere. The whole purpose of this product is to be mobile but you can barely do anything and the most important thing to carry for your child is also difficult while pumping 20 to 30 min at a time. This actually made motherhood more difficult for me and stressed me out having to pump but also ensuring the baby would be asleep or not need anything during this time. I'm not sure how this design is suitable for mothers as it does not add benefit to your day nor is it a comfortable design. I would not recommend and next time I'd try the bellababy to see if they're more comfortable at 1/4 of the price. This product is not worth the price tag.
