I bought this to replace an electric pump from another brand and in comparison it is a much more basic product. It is effective and comfortable to use and therefore value for money for the much lower price than other electric pumps.However a few cons are:- The on/off button is very sensitive so slight knocks can cause it to turn on when not wanted which drains the battery.- There is no visible timer like other products so it is hard to know how long you’ve been expressing for. Not an essential feature but one I miss having used another brand.- there is no visible power bar to know when the pump is running low on battery - this has led to some discomfort when I’ve come to use it and it is unexpectedly dead meaning I’ve been unable to express

I've been using the Medela Solo at least daily for a week, having previously been using an old Medela Swing. We have the Medela bottles (and teets) and as a whole system it works well.Positive-> Easy to set up, intuitive, and pieces are less fiddly than the Swing> Chargeable (USB/mains plug) and portable> Stands up with bottle attached on it's own (a disadvantage of the Swing and has led to spillage for me in the past)> Quieter than the Swing - so can watch TV without turning volume up or hold conversation without having to speak louder! This may suit some people, but I don't like it - when I switch breasts I have to remember to change the settings otherwise the intensity remains high and will miss the stimulation needed for let down. Sudden high intensity feels painful to me if I forget (but it's fine if slowly built up!)Overall I am pleased with and would recommend this pump.

However, there are many strong downsides to it - the greatest being that I've used it for a little more than a month and it's already lost its suctions power. But also, the bottles are made in a way that it's ridiculously easy to spill the content if not held upright (which is not always easy, given that they're used by overly tired women, who need to juggle with newborns and other stuff and use it during the day, but also at night). Instructions are easy to follow, so is the assembly (there are very handy pictures). Cleaning can be done either by hand or in a dishwasher plus it has to be boiled to sterilise. Charging battery is easy (USB) with handy light to say once it's done. Light changes according to how much power there is left, which is handy. I was really impressed by how well it mimics actual breastfeeding with its very smart baby rhythm (two phase expression). It's very helpful that I was able to either leave it as it is, with phases being changed automatically or easily switch between stimulation phase and let down phase as needed. With so many options on the market, it's hard to know the best one out there. This is definitely the one I would recommend. It put my mind at peace knowing, when the time comes to go back to work, I will be still able to provide my little girl with my breast milk. Meanwhile I can gently ease her into combined breast and bottle feeding at my convenience.

I like how it had a 2 phase expression technology which mimicks the ways baby breastfeed and the handset easily adjusts the speed. I love that the bottle you express into has a stand and a screw one lid, so any milk doesnt fall over. Overall, its a great pump and was highly recommend to spend the extra amount as it will make your expressing journey a little easier.
Definitely better than a manual one and more handy than a single pumper. Quite a lot of effort to clean after each use. The grey part sometimes leaks a bit when milk goes through but only a very tiny amount. When cleaning, make sure the yellow rubber pads inside are properly cleaned and dried, also the back lids are fully dry before use. Otherwise the water will be pumped into the tube and that's very difficult to dry. Shields feel comfortable and the white rubber part provides a bit suction. This product comes with two shield sizes, 21and 24. You may need to buy shields separately if these two sizes do not fit you.
