We decided to go for the more advanced Melitta Avanza series as opposed to a more basic one in the same range due to the milk frother having an attachment that you can feed into any milk container, and that you can make two coffees without milk at the same time. I want to be honest with you-the machine makes lovely silky smooth coffees like expresso and does a decent job of frothing milk, so unless you are used to making barrister level quality coffees, then you will probably like the results. The machine is actually sensibly priced for an automatic machine and we really did not want to pay nearly a thousand pounds for the privilege of freshly ground coffee, so it seems like it is not a bad price for an automatic machine that gets the taste and texture of the coffee right.The machine is quite deep but has a pleasing front which is quite slimline given how many functions must be crammed inside it, so it should fit well on a kitchen worktop. It has numerous icons to alert you to different things such as emptying the drip tray and removing the convenient puck shaped coffee discs (in a separate container, also inside the drip tray) or showing that the coffee hopper or water tank needs refilling.The more complex tasks like cleaning the machine (it runs a small amount of water through the coffee outlet at the front whenever it's switched on or off-it will power itself down after an adjustable amount of time). The whole brewing unit can be cleaned as well, however it requires some patience and I strongly urge you to read the manual-it does have plenty of diagrams to help you with the functions.The chrome coffee outlet can be moved up and down to accommodate a wide variety of cups and mugs which is useful.There is one thing you should be aware of though and that is the fact that the machine is loud. Sadly Which reviews with regard to the more basic melitta in the same range state that the machine is well rated for quietess. I can tell you that the Melissa we brought was so loud we thought there was something wrong with it at first, but after doing some research we discovered others noticed that the machine created a lot of noise. If our machine is anything to go by, then the noise seems to be generated by excessive vibration between the plastic case on the left hand side and the internal components. It is annoying because it would probably be a simple case of putting a few rubber coin shaped dampners inside the case. However the noise can be muted almost entirely by gently pressing your finger against the plastic when the pump is pouring coffee through the outlet at the front. That's my only complaint about the Melissa Avanza, otherwise I would happily give the machine 5 stars. So overall the machine is good value-it makes great coffee-your essentially getting a automatic bean to cup machine for less than half the price of a more advanced unit which does make it good value. I just wish Melitta were aware of how noisy the machine is, which could be so easily muted by the above mentioned dampners. Or failing that just press your finger on the center of the left side of the casing when the pump is working.I hope my review helps.

Consumer magazine reviews of this model were excellent and the Harts price was the best value. Very quick delivery. In use the machine is proving reasonably quiet making excellent coffee. It is quick to warm up initially then delivers each freshly ground cup in under 30 seconds. Intuitive to use but the initial set up using the handbook was rather tedious due to confusing layout and poorly described instructions. Overall an excellent purchasing experience with Harts.

I bought this coffee maker on the back of the feedback for this machine. Having used it over the last three weeks I am still not happy with the frother as the milk separates !!! So still trying with different types of milk. The other thing is the milk is not very hot so I just stick it in the micro wave for a few seconds. As for the grinder being quiet, it is not, however that is not a problem. Although it does a good job I wish I had saved up for a better machine only because of the frother not been too my liking .Other than that I would recommend this coffee maker.

This is at the lower end of the price range for bean to cup coffee machines. It was easy to set up and the instructions are clear. I bought it to replace my broken Krupps machine. It’s far quieter and a little slower verity brewing but I find the quality of the coffee has improved. The size and strength of the coffee is easily adjustable. It self cleans every time it is turned on and off so the water tank needs a lot of refilling and the large drip box needs a lot of emptying. It also comes with an easy to use milk frother. I’m very pleased with it so far
Plastic construction but of a good quality, simple to make great coffee and importantly easy to load and clean. Larger bean and water containers than the Solo but the same small footprint on your worktop. Milk frothing a doddle. To date i cannot fault this machine and at Harts good value too !
Very happy with results, self cleaning a bonus. Disappointed with very low capacity of drip tray which requires emptying after only three or four operations. Difficult I know, but it would be useful to be able to clear hopper between changes of bean, present set up means a cocktail of beans is produced by one set of beans being fed in on top of previous set. I like the fact that milk dispensing is not fully automatic, this makes keeping the milk dispenser is much easier to keep clean.Overall very satisfied.
Machine much larger than anticipated (front to back especially).Works well and easy to master despite the rather opaque instructions, far better to use the excellent Melitta App which has an excellent section of tutorials.It is much quieter than mg previous Bean to Cup machine (which was a Krups but failed completely after two years) .Most importantly it makes excellent coffee, with plenty of adjustments to suit personal tastes.
This is a fantastic coffee machine that doesn't take up much space on the worktop. Easy to clean, easy to use and makes delicious coffee. The milk frother I find is brilliant and so quick and easy to use and clean. I have no issue with the temperature of the coffee. The only thing i'd like this machine to have is a larger water tank as i find myself filling it up quite frequently, but this is very minor and the tank is the biggest in it's class.This was my first time buying from Harts of Stur and would rate them 5/5 for delivery and customer service. Would highly recommend buying from here
