This shoe has similarities to the classic NB 1400 model in look and wearability, but lacks the detail, comfort, insole padding, durability, quality, and true sizing of that now-unavailable shoe. I’d gladly pay the double price for 1400s but NB seemingly has abandoned the loyalists like me who started and stayed with that expensive but unparalleled shoe.

I bought these for a trip to Paris and they are going to be my new every day shoes. I am a female size 8.5 normally in women’s that needs a wide toe box, so I got the men’s size 8 4E and it’s perfect! Has room for my custom insoles as well. I walked 17k steps with no problem! And they’re so cute even though they’re mens shoes. They also go with everything, dress down a dress for a walk in town, or with yoga pants for a workout. Very well made great materials. Also, New Balance is definitely the new way to go… I feel it used to be Nike but new balance caters much more to wider feet and I’d say the majority of people in Paris were also wearing NB!

All the shoes out there today are foam support - inside and outside. A true runner or a person who has a daily routine at a gym cannot survive long with foam-support shoes without soon sustaining terrible pain in the feet due to the poorly made junk shoes on today's market. A shoe for high intensity needs firm, solid support inside and out. The NB shoe is outstanding at doing that and is the only shoe I wear for my daily workouts - and my feet never, ever hurt. There is a reason I buy a lot of NB shoes: They come in wide sizes. There is a reason these are my third pair of 574s: They are iconic. They look great (I'm especially fond of the reflective 'N' and upper heel) and are supremely comfortable. I've found that none of my New Balance shoes are comfortable right out of the box but break in quickly. That was certainly true with these. I got these in my normal NB size (men's 10, 2E) and find them just a tiny bit shorter than other models. The width is great. One minor quibble: I would have preferred grey laces instead of the white.

I wash very dirty new balance in the washing machine at 60°(but you don't try it officially not recommended). I don't know what to do for this model to be damaged in general. This is my first New Balance shoe in well over a decade, and I was hoping for a shoe that was not only stylish but also comfortable for walking long distances in. Unfortunately, this is not it. First, it does run a little small and I should have gone a half size up. However, because of the stretchy upper it's not uncomfortable. The glaring issue for me is the back of the collar, where the heel tab is. It digs into the back of my ankle when I walk, and it's made of a stiffer material which causes chafing and rubbed the skin raw. I would not recommend this shoe.
Awesome shoe just not available in narrow for size 12. I love NB shoes but need them narrow particularly in the ankle. While NB has shows in this category it's not available in this shoe. Not sure why shoe designers assume men with larger feet have no taste or don't want some fun colors. I have standby NB shoes that fit great but they only come in gray. Also, why require a minimum of fifty words when what you need to say can be said in less. Would I recommend New Balance shoes to family and friends? Yes, they just need to make sure they fit properly. Even though I tied the laces to pull in the ankle, it was till too wide.
These shoes are a little small but they did climb up a few volcanoes (partly due to me not packing any other sneakers) in Ecuador and have remained perfectly intact. These shoes will never all apart on you, mine lost a little bit of traction but that's all. I still wear them to work a few times a week(in a restaurant) and still receive compliments on them. Overall 10/10, wouldn't recommend them as hiking shoes but if they're your only option I wouldn't be too disappointed. Just order half a size up.
The toe box isn’t wide enough to support healthy foot pronation. The shoe itself is wide, but the toe box meets at a point in the middle and isn’t wide enough for a standard human foot/toes.This is the case with all New Balances. We don’t want a symmetrical toe box, we want a foot shaped toe box with metatarsal support. You’re supposedly a world class shoe distributor and you’re missing out on the future of footware. You could be the first major company that produces wide toe box shoes with built-in metatarsal support which assists in the prevention of modern foot problems. As an ex patient aid, I can tell you 99% of old people have bunions and plantar fasciitis pain limiting their mobility. A systemic change in the industry could help us all.
The Arch is too high. I much prefer the NB 501, now discontinued, like almost all of the older style NB shoes. The newer styles/technology (fresh foam, etc.) don't work for my feet. The 574 Core is one of the last (the last?) of the old style. Unfortunately they have a high arch, which my feet don't like. I have to modify the insole to wear them. Not a great design. Maybe NB could provide several different insoles?
