Slender, light handle. Not my favourite but not a problem either, and anyway most razor handles are interchangeable.The 15c cannot clog (no inner spaces) and therefore can shave through long hair as easily as whiskers.However this razor cannot shave close to the skin. Good if you want an unusually mild shave to give your skin a break.

After reading many safety razor reviews, I chose the Merkur 25C because I wanted one with a longer handle & I thought an open-comb might work better on a beard. Hit a bullseye with this purchase! The first blade I tried was a Merkur & my two month old beard was no match. Zero pulled hairs & only nicked myself once (from getting distracted whilst shaving).The open-comb gently moved through my beard, allowing the razor to cut smoothly.Weight is nice in the hand, handle is easy to hold with a good grip/length.Only improvement I would suggest would be for Merkur to make the handle with a slightly bigger diameter, as I found I had a sore thumb from the way I had to grip/hold it. This is the only reason I didn't give five stars, otherwise I love this razor so far!

Best safety razor that I've used

This is a great razor for those new to using a safety razor (like myself). I initially tried a different manufacturer and model and could not consistently get a comfortable shave. The curvature of this model allows you to adjust your angle to shave as close (or not so close) as you like. It really is a nice razor. Glad to have found a model that works for me as I was considering going back to disposable.

Could be more aggressive, but still a great shave

After using a 34c for a few years, I thought I'd give the open-comb 15c a try. It's mild, maybe even slightly more mild than the 34c, but I shimmed the blade and it works wonderfully. The open comb makes shaving (both head and face) so much easier, since it doesn't clog with my coarse hair the way the closed comb 34c does. I wish the handle was thicker and that the overall weight was more like the 34c, but overall I can't complain. I may look into getting a thicker, heavier handle some day, but this is great for now.

Excellent Little Safety Razor

This was my first open comb safety razor. Despite the reputation of open comb razors being very aggressive, this razor was not scary at all. It is suitable for beginners and veterans alike. I am very satisfied with this razor as I can obtain an acceptably close and irritation-free shave in two passes. It is definitely one of the smallest and most lightweight safety razors among non-travel razors. However, I still feel the build quality is good and I like the size and weight despite being tall (6') with relatively large hands. I previously purchased a heavy duty style razor and find it to be unwieldy and difficult to maneuver. In contrast, this razor is easier for me to manipulate. Good kit

I tried shaving my beard off once before with a Futur, but it clogged. I figured with the open comb on the Merkur 15C the hairs would fall away from the blade and I could shave without having to clear the razor, and that's exactly the way it worked.Full marks.

If you've ever fancied using

If you've ever fancied using a vintage open comb razor but are wary of using one that's 100+ years old or don't want to pay the sometimes over inflated "collector" prices then this could be for you. It's based on the first Gillettes up to the 1920s and is about the same size and weight.I find it shaves just as good.

Merkur Razor

This is a great little razor and I really mean little! This is not designed to shave your face, but for getting to those places that your straight edge or your double edge just won't get into, this little guy will! It's great for trimming around your beard and that nasty uni-brow!! Check the pictures to see how small it really is! (The large razor is a Merkur 24-C ) One last thing, this razor is really sharp and if you move it sideways, AT ALL, IT WILL CUT YOU!! Straight pulls only!!!!

Murkur 15C Open Tooth Razor

I have several safety razors and also several straight razors. I have been wet shaving for many years, and I use both straight and safety razors for my daily shaving, alternating between them randomly. I have always been very impressed with Murkur razors for their simplicity and top notch quality. I think Murkur is the standard of quality that all razor makers strive to meet. The 15C is an excellent example of this quality. It is an aggressive razor, best used with a light hand and allowing the weight of the razor to do the work. This results in a perfect close shave every time. I use Feather DE blades, and find them to be of similar high quality. An excellent combination for a great shave. I highly recommend Murkur, it is worth every penny invested.

NICE!

I ordered this razor because I was looking for something a bit more aggressive than my EJ. I found what I was looking for. Admittedly I was a bit nervous trying an open comb for the first time but as it turns out there was no need to worry. The 15C gives me an extremely smooth, comfortable and close shave. I get the BBS shave I was looking for with very little effort. I don't feel any scratching or roughness from the blade. I get the best results with an Astra blade and I have combined this with TOB, Proraso red, RazoRock and Edwin Jagger soaps. All produced excellent results. It is nice to have so many choices for a daily rotation.
