I was really hoping these wouldn't have the same issue of every third blade having burs and cutting me but that was not the case. Shark blades are cheaper and are just as reliable in this way. Both Shark and this brand will last for three shaves of my underarms and legs if it's a good blade. I just wish I didn't have to toss one third of the entire package due to manufacturer quality issues. There is one difference between the two. These are a tad more aggressive than Shark...but so close it's not obvious. I really had to focus on it to notice. I wouldn't purchase these again. They may be fine for facial hair but not for leg or underarm hair.

I've been using Derby blades for a while as I was still learning to maneuver the DE razor properly, the duller Derbys dont cut me too much. I tried these Merkurs as I'm ready for sharper blades. I love my Murker "barber pole" razor handle, but the blades did not stand up to my coarse stubble, hence I got more cuts and not a close shave. It's disappointing considering how well they've double packaged every blade, won't be continuing with these.

I have used merkur blades before and I i lwas happy to see that I could buy themWithout the plastic case. Unfortunately, these blades are from Czech and are not very sharp. Lots of tugging right out of the box. Very disappointed. The original German version was excellent: very sharp and more than an average number of shaves. I will not be using the remaining 9 blades.

Fantastic! I used the Merkur blade that came with my new long handled Progressive adjustable razor and at this writing have gotten 4 double shaves using a setting of three on the razor. I'm still getting a extremely close shave with virtually no feeling of stubble on the cheeks. At 81 years and wet shaving most of my life this is best shaving system I have ever had. Based on some bad reviews on this blade I intend to order them with the hope that the quality of the blade has not deteriorated as some of the reviews have indicated.
I have used Merkur blades in the past and I have thought they were fantastic. I liked them because they were sturdy and sharp. They gave the best shaves I have ever had and would cut any hair on my face no matter the thickness. They would also last forever, I could get 20+ shaves with every blade. I thought I might purchase a pack of 100 of them as I would have them forever. When I received the 100 I was severely disappointed. I thought that I was buying the same Merkur blades that I had used in the past which were made in Germany but no... these blades are made in the Czech Republic and are thin, dull, and don't give nearly as nice of a shave as what I am used to. Perhaps I didn't read the page when I bought them as I didn't see the "made in Czech Republic" in the description or perhaps Merkur has changed their manufacturing out of Germany and into the Czech Republic. Either way I am extremely disappointed with their quality and regret buying so many.I do not recommend these blades to anyone who is used to the quality of the Merkur blades which are made in Germany.
I am a long time very experienced safety razor user. For years Mercur wore the crown as the best razor on the market, expensive but worth it. The story goes horribly awry from here, unbeknownst to most Mercur decided that quality was no longer what they were seeking and instead they opted to manufacture a pathetic cheap imposter incapable of providing a smooth shave. Not even one shave is possible with these blades. These blades dropped so far down the list only a complete novice going off old reviews would ever fall for this gimmick blade. I have still yet to find a replacement, Bolzano blades and Astra are both decent and able to provide 3 to 4 shaves I haven’t had any luck with Feather as they are to sharp and not good for coarse beards.
I've been buying Merkur double-edge razor blades for years and always been very impressed with their 5 Star quality. Sadly, this is no longer the case. This latest batch was so bad I contacted Merkur (Dovo) direct in Germany to check they were a genuine Merkur item. Turns out they are, but Merkur have stopped having them made in Germany and moved production to the Czech Republic. The result is a vastly inferior product quality, clearly made from thinner gauge steel and giving a very poor shave because they are so blunt. The blade edges are also no longer marked I and II to enable easy identification of the edge being used. Very disappointing. I'll be buying an alternative brand next time around.
I first raved about this blade which was included with the long handled Progressive adjustable razor I recently purchased from WCS. I was so impressed with this blade that I purchased a bulk package of 50 blades. I used one of these for the first time and It was the most horrible shave I have ever had. After shaving two times I still could feel stubble. I think the blade was sharp enough but the cutting edge may have been honed at the wrong angle. I then looked at both blades, the one that came with my razor was marked made in Germany and the 50 I just bought were marked made in CZ.I would like to thank West Coast Shaving for refunding the $32.49 when told about my experience They are a first class company.
You can buy different packages with Merkur safety blades: made in Germany and one's apparently made in the Czech republic. Fendrihan sells the one's made in Germany and they are truly better than the one's sold by other stores in the US and made in the Czech republic. The one's made in Germany come in a shrink wrap package with a plastic dispenser, while the other one's come in a cardboard box. Each German Merkur blade lasts for one week of daily shaving, while the others are noticeably duller after approx. 3 shaves.
I just had a terrific shave with this blade in a Futur razor using Tabac soap and Edwin Jagger pre shave. I tried Merkur blades a few years ago and wasn’t impressed. I decided to give them a second chance and found a very superior shave. I have no idea where these blades were made , but recognizing the volume of blades available, a man’s preference is purely subjective. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but you really need to decide for yourself.
