I’ve been looking far and wide for a shoe that I could get away with wearing to work but that had more hiking shoe like qualities and a waterproof, rugged design. These shoes almost exactly fit the bill. They’re comfortable, look great, and seem like they will hold up long term. The lack of gusseted tongue on a “waterproof” shoe keeps them from being perfect and is an extremely confusing design choice. They’re really only waterproof up to the tongue as is. Still the closest thing I’ve found to my work/hiking shoe hybrid dream though.

I have been wearing these for work for years. I have had 3 pairs laying around that have lasted for years. In fact I still wear the old ones around the house for yard work. It looks like they changed how they are made and the newest pair I bought are falling apart after a few months of wear at work. Both are coming apart at the seams in the front. My 3 old pairs never tore at any seams. They were dirty, scuffed, and had the soles worn out but never came apart at the seams like these.

Just purchased these boots to walk my dog in the snow and slop of Iowa winters. I liked the look of the all leather shoe and they are very comfortable right out of the box. Have put about 15 miles on them over the last week in cold dry conditions. I then walked a mile through 3 inches of fresh snow and when I returned home my socks and feet were wet in the toe box but no were else. Very comfortable as a casual shoe but not waterproof as advertised. It appears from reading other reviews this is a common occurrence with Merrell Moab.Went and bought a pair of Danner TFX Mid Waterproof Hikers. They are higher on the ankle which I didn’t want, but when walked through the same conditions, they have the same level of comfort without the cold wet feet.
