Better than I expected. I’m a long time Merrell wearer. My last pair was the Ontario 85 which Merrell doesn’t seem to make anymore (I wish companies wouldn’t discontinue good things). I wore those down to slicks by hiking through the Grand Canyon, Custer SD, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons last year so it was time for another pair. I took a chance on the MOAB Flight given the good reviews and because I figured Merrell wouldn’t put the MOAB name on something that wasn’t worthy. Bought these before a trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone. I'm not a hiker, but wanted something with great sole, traction, and arch support. I didn't want a bulky shoe that would cause me to trip or drag my feet due to their weight or bulk. These were PERFECT! The light weight fabric makes them comfortable when it is warm out. Arch support and cushion are great. Sole is grippy and flexible to not be a burden, but made inclines of trails a breeze. And they look great with jeans or shorts for after trail time so don't need multiple pairs of shoes during the day. My family and friends were amazed at how I was able to manage easy and moderate trails compared to other trips. They dubbed them my "magic shoes".

I should add that I’m 230lbs.My only issue is that twice now I have had the bottom layer of the shoe (traction area) peel away from the other cushioned part of the shoe at the heel. The first pair peeled away after a stroll around the neighborhood while the other was about after 5 good days of walking around in them. I tried to have them repaired but that didn’t last long at all.I will say that the first pair were replaced Arno charge as I knew they would. Great products usually come with great service. First picked up a pair of Moab Flights in the Herb color from REI to try out the fit. They were comfortable right out of the box. No break-in required. So, I bought a second pair in the same color. Then saw more colors available on Merrell’s website. Bought a few more in different colors. Bought two pair for my partner who likes hers as well. They’re great walking shoes, at least on our feet. The small lip on the heal provides a comfortable heal-to-toe roll for walking. Not too spongy and not too hard. Though, for those people looking for arch support, they’re a bit weak/low in that area.
These shoes are incredibly comfortable, sharp looking, extremely well insulated against colder temperatures, and the glow in the dark sole is just awesome. I primarily use these for walking and light activity, and they serve those purposes excellently. They also have good grip with the integrated vibram sole, so they can easily handle winter elements. They are great winter shoes with noteworthy insulation. The only tip is that if you plan to wear them to a party or some event where you want to show off the glow in the dark sole, I do recommending wiping down the sole because dust and dirt will hamper the glowing effect Nonetheless these are amazing shoes, and I hope that Merrell continues with this style of shoe. I normally love Merrell shoes and have bought many through the years both online and in person at their Rockford, MI reseller Rockford Shoe Depot. I bought a pair of Flights online and after wearing them for about 2 months I can honestly say they are the most uncomfortable Merrells I have ever purchased. As a matter of fact they may be the most uncomfortable pair of ANY athletic style shoe I have ever owned. The hard edge of the insole where it meets the side wall of the shoe seems that it is stabbing into the bottom of each foot and toe in numerous places. I bought the wides and they are plenty wide for my foot but there is something weird going on with the insole that it makes wearing these a dreadful experience. I tried on a pair of Merrell's at a local store and they were tight like Nike so I ordered the wides. The top creases of you tighten the laces, and have a snap or popping sound coming from the shoe when I'm walking. If I loosen the laces the sound goes away. Maybe this particular shoe runs wider, so I should exchange for the medium width. Return policy, no exchanges on width. Lame, very disappointed. I'll be throwing these in the trash, and happily spend $225 on another pair of red wings. So disappointed in Merrell. They changed something because they used to be awesome, and last for years. The outsole is also visibly compressed and tearing at some wrinkles or compression marks below the heels.I got these at a considerable mark down but there's no way I'd spend the msrp on them again. They're a good $60-80 shoe but not nearly worth more than $100 in my opinion. There's too many great work shoes to be found regularly below $80 and these simply don't compete overall.

I also wanted a larger toe box to help my natural stride and prevent toe squishing. Most women's shoes I've found tend to compact your toes into an unnatural position. These didn't. There was no breaking in period, they were comfortable straight from the box. I bought a size 8 men's, about half a size larger than most my shoes. They still felt great and easy to walk in with fantastic traction. I've done about 100 miles in them in scrambling, sand, and paved road hikes. They were more padded than I anticipated.
