These are so comfy right out of the box. No break in needed. Took them for a 4 mile hike to collect Huckleberries on their first trip. Used my nice running shoes on a previous trip and my feet and knees hurt afterwards. With these I could go miles more with no issues.

The Best Autumn waterproof shoe...EVER. Comfortable from the first moment I put them on, could walk all day; I have several pairs of different Merrells, but these are The Best.
I took my Moab Speed 2 to the Himalayas and it was the best experience walking with them. All the band aids I took just in case, came back unused. Loved the comfort, warmth, lightness and steadiness. The more I use them the more comfortable they get. My favorite boot of all times!
Wet Feet, walking in a field after some light rain my feet were wet.Why not just add the cost for Gore Tex and manufacture a better boot?
Not a fan of the new foot bed and sole. Very loose fit in the heal. These do not come close to the feel of what I have become accustomed too over the many years and purchased shoes. Maybe I am spoiled by pulling them out of the box and wearing them on the trail. Good thing I found my old faithful type on clearance. No idea what my future purchases will be because this new arrival in not the Merrell I know and love. These are to be hiking footwear not tennis shoes.
I'm an avid hiker and I have worn Merrells for >30 years. I buy a new pair annually. I do a lot of backpacking and rugged trail hiking so I like the mid or high rise. I have been buying the Moab for years but had a coupon this year and thought the Moab Speed sounded perfect. They arrived and I wore them around my house. Super comfortable as always, so I wore them on a short trail hike. I felt like I was wearing clown shoes. I figured I just needed to crank down on the laces to get a firmer fit. No joy. My feet moved around in them so much I strained my feet. I also didn't find them particularly sticky while scrambling up rock faces.I contacted customer support after friends insisted they ought to be returnable within a limited timeframe. I was told clearly that I could donate or do 'whatever I wish' with them, but they're not returnable. So now I'm out more $ than I would normally spend and I have no boots for the coming year.If you're trying a new style, I strongly recommend hitting a local retailer. If I'd bought them at REI, they'd still be returnable.
Size 11 is true to size for me. I have only been able to wear them one time. I did notice a little heel slipage, so might need to cinch them up tighter. Good looking boot IMO.
Purchased these for the West Coast Trail (6days, 75km of rugged trail on Vancouver Island). Did not need to break these in at all. Zero blisters, hot spots or damaged toenails, really quite impressed as I had no issues at all. Super lightweight, comfy and adaptable, felt like a trail runner with the ankle support of a hiking boot. Only reason draw back is that they do not dry very quickly. I probably should have opted for the gor-tex option for this specific trip, however the leather is very comfy.
