Fantastic wide fit shoe. I love the shoe but do have one complaint. The mesh material doesnt last as long as id like. After a few months my pinky toes busted through. Much better than say the addidas terrex tho. I use these shoes for disc golf about 3-5 days a week. Even the toe held up well against toe dragging

I'm partial to lightweight shoes with traction for yard work and all around "get dirty" type chores and activities. I should note that I also enjoy trail running, camping, hiking and outdoor activities in general. I tried this shoe to replace the hiking sneaker from another brand that I really liked. It is absolutely my NEW FAVORITE SHOE!! I use this shoe for everything, e.g., yard work, home projects, casual dress, and they are light enough and grippy enough to take on the trails for a run! I may pick up the Nova 3 trail shoe as well, but this shoe is just amazing. I hope Merrell doesn't mess with a good thing here.

Nearly the perfect shoe. Super comfortable, lightweight, breathable, dry quick, look great and can be dressed up if need be as the neutral black provides a lot of flexibility and less of a technical look. I LOVED everything about the Tactical Nova. Thought they had good traction until.... traversing wet surfaces!!!I had these as my main shoes on a trip to Vietnam, and once I had to deal with wet pavement, pavers, and rocks, there is absolutely NO TRACTION, and I LITERALLY thought I was going to kill myself on a trek in the highlands wearing them. The amount of falls and slips really took away from the experience, and I am feel almost lucky I didn't get seriously injured.Merrell for life, and have never had a problem with other shoes over the years, but this was ... MoreNearly the perfect shoe. Not sure how this could have been missed in the design unless i had a defect pair, because something seemed seriously wrong.I hope that there is improvement made on this in future iterations. Will keep these around for leisurely walks and light hikes when it is bone dry, but would NEVER wear them anywhere you encounter or anticipate moisture. In no way should these be classified as a trail shoe!

If you like vans but want more support and traction these are the shoes for you! I’ve been wearing skate shoes for the past 2 decades and I’m so happy I made the switch to these. They have a low fit like the vans but with actual arch support and traction not to mention a sole that curves for running. I truly didn’t know what I was missing. I love the style and all black color. Some may not like low cut because it almost feels like your heel is going to come out of the shoe but it doesn’t and I think it feels great!
Improved insert is too tall making heel come almost out of the shoe on each step.I have and love the Nova2 and understand the need for an increase in the sole as those hurt after a full day on hard floors, but unfortunately these went too far. love the new tactical solid color way, and the tread is still just right.Been using the Nova 2 insoles in both to correct the fit. Tried multiple lacing configurations but no solution.I would buy these again but would stick w the Nova2 for now.
I’m a little disappointed with these after a big trail run yesterday. The cushioning is great, but it comes at the expense of stability. I struggled all day with my ankles tending to topple sideways with every little rut or rock on the trail. My old Nova Trail 2s are much better on the trails. These new ones are significantly heavier too.
I bought the nova 3 from outdoor sports center on sale. All i can say is wow! Yes the heel slips out easy, love that. Best shoe ever. Like a sneaker for tactile and tactical situations. Stability!!!
Didn't wait! Went to Harry's Army Surplus. What a Fit!The 1/2 size option worked wonders.I walked out with them on.No, I didn't sleep in them. But this morning I did 1000 heel lifts and 500 Ankle lifts ll with 12.5 lb dumbbells. Both all time highs. Then I treadmill'd four miles t 10 min pace without the usual stress in my ankles and heels. The stability is fabulous and the ciomfort was an 8 bs the normal 3-5 over the past six years when planter fasciitis first set in.It has hindered my performance.I still have them on. Usually I need change shoes.I'm about to wear them in the pool, they feel so good.I
These are an injury waiting to happen. The Nova 3 looks nice, and feels nice when you're holding the shoe in your hand. Unfortunately, they have some design flaws. First and foremost, they are not stable. My heel comes right out, even if I tie them so tight that it hurts the rest of my foot. If you bought the "tactical" to do any type of LE/MIL work, forget it. They wouldn't even cut it for a hike with elevation change. I do have about 450 miles on them at this point, and they are holding up well, but part of that may be that they can't handle any real tasks due to the hell coming out of the shoe, and they also have a high center of gravity. If they were to raise the area around the heel, and lower the center of gravity these would be awesome. Hopefully the Nova 4 ... MoreThese are an injury waiting to happen. What a horrible combination of shoe and insole. The thickness of the heel of the insole pushes your heel ankle so far up that I feel like I'm constantly at risk of my heel popping out, no matter how tight I tie the laces. I finally pulled the all but worn out insoles of my Moab tacticals and used them instead, which solved the problem enough. I cannot otherwise imagine relying on these shoes to stay on my feet in a truly "tactical" situation. Will not buy again.
