Great rope bag with an included tarp. I really like the horizontal form factor of this bag compared to the vertical form factor of the other Metolius rope bag. The window to see what rope is in the bag is pretty neat but not useful to me since I only have one rope but would be a must-have if I did have more than one rope. Over all it seems to be well made and is easy to use 10/10.

Everything you'd want in a rope bag. The tarp is great wuth a nice red loop to tie off your rope and easily find the end. The strap is comfy and allows you to carry the bag easily.
Great way to keep my rope organized and easy to transport!The shoulder pad on this is beefier than the Metolious Dirt Bag II, so if you’re going to be toting this around, rather than just stuffing it into a pack, I’d say it’s worth the $10 bucks for this bag (that’s why I got it, anyway). But it’s also compact/light enough to throw inside a pack of you want to do that too!My only complaint about this is that the thickness of the bag and tarp is not as thick as I had hoped. It reminds me of an old style, basic Jansport backpack. Nothing special or super durable. But time will tell and I’ll hope for the best. Because even still, this sure beats coiling the rope and hoping the other things in your pack don’t run dirt into it!
Exactly the right side for what I need. The process of tucking in your flaked rope is really easy and keeps everything neat. The only thing I wish this had was a second strap of some sort to spread out the weight when going on longer approaches.
The Metolius HR is well designed and constructed with sturdy materials. I have used other bags with backpack straps but I always come back to the Metolius. I carry quickdraws, a quad, and stick clip with my rope. The tarp is a generous size and the two loops allow securing ends for quick movement between climbs.
Very solid material and buckles (I'm not sure about clear plastic - but it allows to check which rope is in the bag without opening it). It fits 70 meter rope with lots of room to spare. Recommended.
Metolius rope master HC. Tried and true classic. Keeps your rope clean, plenty of room for my 80 m rope. Easily packed in my backpack or I can carry it from Crag to Crag.
As a guide I’ve used a wide variety of rope bags over the past 20 years. I find this one to be the easiest to use.All rope bags are similar in concept but not always easy to use. Simplistic as it sounds my favorite part of this bag are the large webbing loops that make cinching down the bag easy.
